  1. especially as now he DOES sleep with you, and accepts that this is how things are... you are going to crate him ? I think that's sad. Why didn't you crate him from the first?
  2. With roo tails, you do better if you find the joints..and cut there. Have a look at the end of the tail.. then look for a similar spinal 'tip' along the tail.. .. bend the tail.. see where the 'bend is.. cut thru the sinews, and then you can see the joint easier. It cuts quite easy when you are at the space between vertebrae.. just cartilage there
  3. I would also suggest a vet check- just to make sure there is no infection! Then as said. pick one plan and , for a whole weekend ( to start with) stick to it 24/7!! Consistency is the only way :D
  4. It could be scar tissue, or fluid. Sometimes it does feel quite hard.
  5. Congratulations! Your princess has trained YOU to come when she cries!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She has also learnt that persistence pays off! Keep her busy at times during the day... lots of exercise/play. Naps are essential, too have her crate alongside your bed if you want.... otherwise leave it in antoher room. make sure she toilets before bed, and don't leave water/food with her. could she be TOO warm? heating and a hot water bottle may be too much... and she isn't 'drawn' to the H/W bottle for comfort? DO NOT get up to her when she is making noise. Even if she cries for 2 hours straight. Do a toilet run when she is quiet/asleep..no cuddles, etc.. just pick up..take out..put back to bed. Hopefully she will soon learn/relearn that crying doesn't bring rewards

  9. How is medicating a dog with ancient instincts a good thing ? Whatever meds are given.. these instincts will still be there once the medication is stopped.
  10. You do really need to have them both castrated to remove some of the hormone overload! Not spending a lot of time together means they don't have their relationship sorted... there are almost two 'territories',and there is you... and ,IMO they are having to re-assert themselves all the time. Not ideal. you really should get some professional help here to ensure a smooth transition ...
  11. I Huh? I can't see your logic here
  12. Have a look here and they are not made overseas !! http://www.aussiedog.com.au/index.php?main...a07ce750b6553f8
  13. Hi, and well done for getting him to this age!! AFAIK. any of the joint supplements take some weeks for any effect to kick in... so don';t look for a quick fix :p Have you thought about acupuncture? I know folks who have seen great pain relief in their dogs after having acupuncture
  14. our dogs used to get sarcoptic mange often, when they chased foxes. back then, we only had malathion rinses... which worked well. We never lost a dog, or had any with a 'bad case'... Things are certainly simpler and quicker these days Hope your guys get better soon!
  15. Vet is a good plan if he is getting more fussy.. there may be something wrong somewhere. best of luck .
  16. No expert here... but I think, given a good raw diet, your puppy will get the perfect protein levels:) Dogs DID evolve to eat large quantities of high protein meat- either muscle meat/organs/ connective tissue and bones. What sort of food are you feeding? Do you think it has too much protein in it? AFAIK, dogs excrete excess protein quite well...
  17. I had a S5700 before this one here is the info on the S5800.. http://www.fujifilm.com/products/digital_c...ions/index.html and the S8000fd http://www.photoreview.com.au/Fujifilm/rev...ix-s8000fd.aspx they are similar.. but the s8000fd has a brilliant macro lens.. and more manual controls, plus a greater zoom length ( tho quality isn't 100% at full zoom )
  18. what terrific word...and a very good thing to be!!
  19. http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=117416 this may be of help I don't have a DSLR.. not 'quite' ready yet.. but nearly! I DO have one of these.. http://www.photoreview.com.au/Fujifilm/rev...ix-s8000fd.aspx which has a lot of the features of a DSLR..but not quite the quality. you can see what it does here : www.redbubble/people/binjy/art
  20. Hi aren't labs wonderful!! Re Exercise. Sorry, but the exercise she is getting is not enough! Letting her run WILD at an offlead park is kinda like letting a two year old loose with his mates... giving him a drink of c*ke, then expecting him to sit still and pay attention Whilst she is enjoying the run... her BRAIN is NOT getting any exercise--- and this is the important bit ... and you end up with a 'wild' dog A 20 minute/half hour walk ,twice a day...with her walking AT HEEL...and with YOU in control... no sniffing along the way, etc, is a much more valuable thing. She can have a shortened run with her friends.. but a controlled walk, with a 10 minute obedience session, will mean she is tired ,from 'thinking' calmer, from the physical effort of walking at heel concentrating, from having to listen to what YOU want and growing, from learning, in a gentle way, how to behave! This is a start... I am sure people will have more suggestions...
  21. yep- my suggestion would be to NOT give her the run of the house/s until she has proved reliable!! Use baby gates, or keep doors closed to all rooms except kitchen or whatever. Have her on leash WITH YOU when you are watching TV , for example- so she cannot just run off. She needs to have the boundaries set, and good habits TAUGHT to her now, the little monkey Raising your voice to her is obviously making her fearful, but not training her When you DO catch her in the act...do not speak!! just quietly and calmly pick her up and put her outside. If she does wee or poo then lavish her with praise IMMEDIATELY. ( I think part of the problem is that, from your post, you reward her when she comes back to you after toileting..NOT immediately she starts to toilet!! She needs to associate the actual peeing or pooing with reward...not coming back to the house afterwards ( tho that is a good thing ) There are lots of toilet training threads on here if you use the 'search' option-- good luck.
  22. It's not hard- if even I can do it ... and it's fun!
  23. What metamucil are you using? if it is flavoured- well- I can see why he won't eat it the actual psyllium husks ( from pharmacy/health food shop)can be mixed with food- no taste- and just a bit of texture.all our cats/dogs wuill happily eat them in food .
  24. How excitement!! Found out a bit more on how to use text to better impact. here is my second attempt I am looking forward to playing more!!! This is fun ( have foot probs atm, so cannot walk much- more time to explore photoshop!! ) some more I did this afternoon .. s'ok- I am a rank amateur, but enjoying the fun bits!! Humour me , please
  25. I would second the using of more shorter walks!! That way she won't get worn out and need to be carried! This will break up her day.. and use up energy a few times, not just one. Also- obedience training, teaching tricks... all very good for tiring a puppy-and making for a better behaved one! make sure tho- training sessions are short, and always end on a happy , positive note
