  1. Storm- how did you go? Did you get another opinion? Hope it is just a revelation of a 'natural colour' :D
  2. Oh dear! The world hasn't gone mad, nekhbet- that would involve having a BRAIN people obviously are being taught to not think sad for the pets, and potentially dangerous for owners
  3. Hi- what a big day! When you collect your pup- ASK THE BREEDER what they have been feeding. I think most decent breeders will tell you, and have a leaflet etc with info for you. Keep her on the food she has been having - to avoid sudden change and tummy upsets. After a time, if you want, you can GRADUALLY change over to your preferred way of feeding... best of luck for today

    Need Help

HI Simple provide him with a platform/step or chair to jump up on- then he is not about to damage the window, and he can see what's happening ! regarding the 'stealing'- what items does he have which are HIS-to carry around and play with? make sure there are a few of his things which he can 'find'. Also- make sure he is walked at least twice a day-on lead, so he has to concentrate, and has his short obedience sessions each day- this will help divert his energy away from doing 'naughty' things around the house. Your mum really does need to keep doors closed ;)
  5. can you get a photo for us? (very, very curious now)
  6. AFAIK- pups' eyes don't change colour at that age--- We can tell our blue eyed pups almost from when their eyes open- they stay that way from then. My guess would be an injury of some sort.... but if the specialist said it was ok- you have a 'special' pup
  7. You may also find this a useful tool http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=64101 Also - practice "give & take" you have her sit in front of you- give her a toy -- then immediately tell her to 'give' , and gently take it from her. Lots of praise, or a food treat when you have posession of the toy.!Immediately get her to sit again (if she has moved, and GIVE IT BACK. Do this a couple of times, then let her have it .
  8. I think she is doing amazingly well! puppies can only 'hold on' for so long- good for her to alert you. Now- when you do let her out- I guess you make a fuss? DON"T ;) just open the door- no 'good morning' or pat, nothing.JUst calm, businesslike approach. (this should be done when you put her to bed, too) Put her outside, and leave her for 15 minutes or so. give her her breakfast, and a chewy, and leave her. DON'T WEAKEN if she squeaks!! NO communication. Then, unexpectedly, when she is quiet and not staring thru the door- call her and quietkly do your good morning greeting It has helped with one of our pups- she is nowhere near as bouncy or noisy as she was
  9. A bit fat and saggy Don't panic yet !
  10. whole eggs are usually tolerated very well. our dogs eat lots- scrounged direct from nesting poultry !! Sometimes a dozen at a sitting , with no adverse effects (apart from a cloud of green gas the next day )
  11. It may not be an allergy- but an inability to digest, or an intolerance... how about if they are cooked?
  12. Check the labels- instead of just what your girl likes Some have lots of 'junk' in them, but taste wonderful(to a dog). Remember too, that canned food is a lot of water ,colouring and flavours  if she is getting a good dry food, plus bones and fresh raw meat- she should be getting most of what her body needs! not me!!
  13. got a photo or two? That would help .
  14. Whilst I am glad the paw-paw cream seems to be easing it- if you were 'really worried', why didn't you see the vet? For me, it would be nice to know if it is a reaction to something, so I could avoid it in future !
  15. BIGDOG- I will suggest that advice given on here- without anyone seeing the body language of your dog- or how you and the dog communicate- is only guessing. You and your boy would , I believe, get a lot of benefit from a good trainer visiting you, and working thru the problem. You are trying to sort it- which is good- so why not arm yourself with the knowledge and experience you will get from a 'real-life' trainer? There are so many variables- dog-distracted dogs are all individual, and should be worked with as such. I almost said a big dog who is so distracted could be a cause for accident- but then I realised he is 'only' 25 kg- not a big dog at all, really!
  16. I have used natures gift at times - seems ok
  17. Hi- if your dog is FEARFUL and barking/hackling DO NOT try to 'comfort' or praise him, or pat him, as this is telling him that you approve of his behaviour- that it is the 'right' way to behave..... Only give him attention/pats etc when he is being calm and confident!!! Dogs do not reason as we do- telling an upset or aggressive pup "It's OK, they won't hurt you, you're a good boy" rewards him/her for being fearful/aggressive It's hard NOT to try and reassure them- but IMO it is not very helpful .
  18. JSK1- it is normal (and desirable for a baby puppy to sleep long hours!! ) Don't worry. tommyspazz- those long stretches of sleep are not something I've seen in a pup that age- is the pup then active from 9.30 pm? if it's not active during the night- as mentioned, a vet check may well be in order -just to be asafe
  19. pappylove- have a drink of something soothing- then a swim or a bath.. and a sleep
  20. Re Blocked anal glands- I would think to get that degree of external redness and irritation, the internal discomfort would be pretty severe One would think she'd be showing some signs. That's a thought- do the groomers express anal glands when they have the dog?
  21. Ohhh well, she is in the best spot now- Have you contacted the people from whom she came ? She was possibly incubating something when she travelled to you! They might like to know- or they may have noticed their dog/s ill too? Hopefully the vet will have good news tomorrow. being on the drip OH-Just re read and she is NOT on a drip? Subcut fluid is better than nothing ,tho.. will perk her up and give her something to fight with
  22. Ouch! That looks very red,hot and sore is she worried about it at all?If not, then tomorrow afternoon should be fine to wait.... If you have any sort of DOG cream/lotion for skin probs- phone a vet ,list ingredients,& ask if it would be ok in the short term... All I can suggest is maybe a small human anti histamine dose... once again, ask the vetbefore using Poor little one.... edit to say -could well be a nasty reaction to something at the groomers ?
  23. let her SLEEP! Sleep is the best thing for her body now---- she will awaken if she needs the toilet ;)Just be observant, and let her rest & heal...
  24. Fingers crossed for her- hope 24 hrs sees her MUCH more comfortable....
