  1. Irish Setter Specialty (ETA: Found my catalogue, but I didn't mark every class...so I've added what I could.) DCC and BIS: Gr Ch and NZ Ch Setterlands Tamburello at Pendoric (Imp NZ) BCC and RUBIS: Ch Brodruggan Fantasy Doll RDCC: Ch Amhurst Shadows of Eire RBCC: Ch Pendoric Playin Wiv Fire Baby: Amhurst Inthelighto Themorning Minor: Highperelle Windrose Memphis Puppy: None Junior: dog ?? Intermediate: Aust-bred: Ch Pendoric Playin Wiv Fire Open: Gr Ch and NZ Ch Setterlands Tamburello at Pendoric (Imp NZ) Veteran: Gr Ch Brodruggan The Dubliner Very happy with my two. My dog was placed 2nd in Aust-bred out of 8, and my bitch 2nd in intermediate in a very strong class of 9. My dog, his brother and father also won Best Parent and Offspring in Show - a lovely birthday present, since the litter all turned 7 years old last Wednesday and this was the first time they'd been together since then :)
  2. Irish Setters are on Saturday. I'm heading over east for the first time with my dogs. It should be fun :)
  3. Judges often make a short-list of the dogs who have caught their eye, and those which they would like to see in comparison specifically to the other "top" dogs in the line-up (in their opinion). It's just one more judge's opinion, but it is certainly a nice thing to be in the short-list. If you're not chosen...*shrug* So the judge preferred one of the others. But it's nice to think your dog was one of the very best they'd seen all day in the group, even if you don't win a thing.
  4. ST, I always leave the air con on for the dogs :)
  5. What's going on with this weather?!! Back from a lovely trip in the cool south-west and hit psycho humid heat hell... Go away summer! Go away NOW.
  6. Wait...so exactly when and where is this going to happen? I'm lost
  7. That was the highlight of my night too, RV Well done to ST and Lulu, too!!
  8. Arghhh mine are booked to come back into Perth on a weekend. I will have to check what time the flight is coming in... So typical.
  9. I don't mind seeing sharks. It's seeing them attached to bits of me that I have an issue with
  10. Hoping for some healing vibes today for my handsome Mr Fionn, who is at the vets having an op to remove two little lumps from his head. (Waaaah! They're going to shave his head! Waaaaah!) Bad enough having to leave him there, with that little face looking out the door at me as I walked away.
  11. Agree with this. A sport where the motto seems to be "you need a thick skin to survive" is pretty bad, imo, and shows that there is room for improvement. I don't care how many other sports where people have seen the same type of behaviour, it's no excuse for people to behave like they do. Honestly I think some people think that it's their right to say whatever they like "because if you can't hack it, you shouldn't do it". Have a look at the numbers dropping and then check your own attitudes (and of course this isnt aimed at everyone but as usual the minority that stands out and makes the whole sport look bad). Unless, of course, some people are happy that the numbers are dropping... ;) Oh no. Did the cynic in me just take over again?? *cough*
  12. Aneira likes the heat. She spends those ultra hot days lazing around on hot concrete in the sun like a European tourist. (No offence to any Europeans here!) Fionn, on the other hand, acts like his world is over if it gets over 25 (So do I, though...) And Maia pretty much refuses to go outside no matter what the weather is like. In other news...for those in WA who know my OH as "Mr Dreadlock," it may interest you to know he has finally met with the clippers. I had great fun attacking him this afternoon with Fionni's grooming tools He's not completely skinhead (he chickened out from a 10-blade at the last second) - he now has kind of page-boy dreads
  13. You're kidding, right? This is the wording from the National Dog Annual on the front page of this very website: "MAKE NO MISTAKE this beautiful gloss publication will be sold in newsagents around Australia and a physical copy sent to All Breeds dog judges in Australia, New Zealand, Thailand and selected Asian nations." Where do the bulk of judges who come to Australia come from, I wonder?? Sorry, but the cynic in me wonders why else would some people will advertise, if not to bring certain dogs to judges' attention? Even the magazine recognises it. Let's just see how many "not very good judges" there are, after the magazine comes out I for one will definitely care about their opinion, because I care about my breed. So you actually care about the opinion of a judge who doesn't know the standard and judges according to what they saw in the latest magazine? These are the judges whose opinion I care the LEAST about and this is because I care very passionately about the future of my breed and don't intend to leave it in the hands of judges who are so influenced by the latest glossy magazine that they are, basically, corrupt. There's no argument that some people advertise lovely pictures of themselves so they will be able to influence these judges - but a good judge isn't influenced by these things and surely it is the opinion of the GOOD judges that people need to concern themselves with. There will always be people who are easily lead - be they school kids, all breeds dog show judges or soccer moms No, I don't care about their opinion. I care about the effect their opinion has on the breed.

  15. That's awful Rubystar. I was there last night and I have to admit the fact that there might have been lowlife, thieving scum walking around didn't even cross my mind! I have always felt completely safe at the CAWA, despite the fact that I know thefts have occurred there in the past. I'm glad a numberplate was taken. Wish I'd noticed something, but I was too busy trying to stop a certain little curly-haired ratbag from wanting to drink constantly from the water fountain and then splashing in it until she was literally dripping wet with ice-cold water...
  16. Oh okay - I must have missed that part earlier lol
  17. She mentioned pano but that was ruled out in the X-rays as apparently u can see that on X-rays . I have restricted his exercise for over 2 weeks now and it hasn't helped a stitch... MG, pano can come and go - it happens in stages. So it is entirely possible the x-ray could show nothing...then, two days later, show something.
  18. What sort of an injury?? He leapt off a wall and landed heavily on his right front. Turned his elbow cartilege into a serrated mess. The first vets we saw were all for operating blah blah. Metcalfe said it was ridiculous, as the serrated cartilege would be smoothed out over time - which it was. MG, could Gibbs have panoesteitis? Are you sure he's always limping on the same leg? Zep (our Lab) also had this. They grow out of it, but it can last throughout puppyhood and is common in large-breed puppies. It's basically irregular calcification of the long bones as they grow, causing pressure and pain (kind of like if you kick your shins on a table). No I'm afraid it's always the same leg that he limps on, I'm beginning to think maybe I should take him to Applecross but then I do trust my vet and should maybe let him do the X-rays, I'm just very confused ATM. Good diagnostic x-rays do depend on a number of things...appropriate sedation and subsequent placement of the dog, ability of the vet to interpret the results for example. If you trust your vet, go ahead. You can always take the x-rays to Applecross for a second opinion, just for peace of mind I wish Gibbs - and you! - all the best, too. There's nothing worse than a limping dog and no diagnosis (or waiting for a diagnosis). We had a hell of a time with Zep, because he really had two different things wrong. It took a good vet with the ability to think for himself to diagnose Zep, and to offer appropriate treatment options. The first vets he saw were more of a case of "here, give him these drugs and wait and see - that'll be $6000 please..."
  19. Congratulations, ST A great achievement for your first self-bred litter!

  21. Agree. I think some people forget that the tail is part of the spine...
  22. Yep. I LOVE this brush! It makes the topcoat gleam like nothing else, and magically seems to get each hair into its rightful place. Love it. Worth every one of the billion dollars it cost
  23. I don't use one, but on the rare occasion I do take food in - and it sounds gross - but I put it in my mouth. Obviously, it has to be human food lol...but I know lots of people tuck food into the cheek. That way, you don't have a big treat bag flopping around on your hip while you run. My friend does this sometimes Faolmor - with chunks of liver!!!! Makes me wanna puke!!! I didnt use bait when I was showing my girl - she would have been doing summersaults in the ring, with excitement!!!!! Faolmor - are you at K9 on the 30th (geez I feel like such a pathetic stalker when I want to meet people.....Im not really ) I don't think I entered that show. But then again, I can't remember what shows I've entered these days LOL

  25. Keep an eye on it, RV. You might need to have it removed. They can turn pretty nasty, if they get stuck and infected.
