I do much the same as Merrirose, start off with a pink slushie- beef mince and womberoo blitzed in the blender, then as they get the hang of it add the biscuits pre soaked and all blitzed together goes down a treat. I start offering the slushie at 3 weeks, moving onto adding the biscuits at 4 weeks all depending on how mum and bubs are doing with feeds etc.

Does Whelping Get Easier For The Bitch 2nd Time Around?
Heidley replied to Merrirose's topic in Breeders Community
My experience has been that my bitch has weak contractions and pups sit in the birth canal too long, 1st litter she had 5 pups one alive rest dead and unfortunately the same this time around with only one alive and needing a Caesar! All this after lengthy talks with her breeder and my vet was just unfortunate that my regular vet was overseas at the time of the 2nd litter as it maybe a totally different outcome. Hoping all goes well for you -
I have been following this thread, so sorry to hear that Owey. RIP Bailey, you were obviously much loved, thinking of your family tonight.

We use Canidae food for our girl with EPI, it's a great wholistic food which is grain free and comes in chicken and salmom, can be a little hard to find, but its a premium food and goes a fair way. My girl with EPI has no issues with tolerating meat as long as it's not fatty. Other things we add to keep her healthy are acidophilous, B12 tablets to maintain good gut flora and helps reduce SIBO incidents which go along with EPI. We also use these if any of the other dogs get loose bowel and certainly helps in a day or two

Shar Pei - Tracking Down Previous Breeder

I think it's a lovely idea to want to touch base with Merlin's breeders and let them know how he's going and learn more about his lines and litter mates etc. Good on you :) -
Pennfield kennels comes highly recommended also- they have a website you can check out

BB any long stock coat wanting to be shown needs to be verified and then placed on the ANKC's LSC register or born after 1/1/12 and put straight on to the register before they can be shown. This is a relatively new process and I don't think all states have had verification days. edited for grammar

Picking German Shepherd Puppy From Litter.
Heidley replied to NewGsdOwner's topic in General Dog Discussion
Heidley, the motherlines are very good with Uras Von Trafalga being the grandfather. Uras provides very good pigment to his progeny as I have heard and seen personally. Have you encountered any Vegas progeny yourself? The only ones I have seen are all very young, so I can't get a good assessment through that. So dark facial p[igment, dark nose, and eyes are what I should be looking for! Thanks for your input, if you have any other recommendations I'd appreciate it. Thomas! I have a Vegas daughter who is 8 months old, she has nice black coat and dark pigment- she doesn't have a very dark mask but she is stunning and has a superb temperament. We just love her to bits. Uras has some nice dark progeny, even some of his grandkids have that too from what I've seen. Enjoy your pup and pop into the GSD thread we love pics. -
Picking German Shepherd Puppy From Litter.

It is very much a gamble regarding this. Vegas is a nice dark boy himself and is passing this on to his offspring- however you need to keep the motherlines in mind too. I agree with Pav Lova, look for dark facial pigment nose, around the eyes etc. -
Congartulations Mini girl and Charlotte, what wonderful news

Very sorry to hear, RIP Cahill and thoughts are with you and his family

I would wait a bit longer, 4 months past when she was due in isn't that long given she has changed her environment. I'd give her at least another few months before being concerned, and being around other dogs or bitches doesn't necessarily make them come into season either. EFS
