  1. Hi Roxley and welcome to the Sth West DOLers thread! As the instigator of this thread, it is my responsibility to inform you that WE DEMAND PICTURES OF PICKLES!!! :D
  2. He had settled on the old Dollar Curtains site opposite the station but opted out last minute for some reason. Last I heard he was pretty settled on a shop in the Safeway complex as a tennant was leaving at the end of July/early August. Think it is the 'Alotech' shop. Has also considered the new complex near Sams wharehouse. He needs somewhere with parking at the door to aid with loading larger items/tanks etc. The parking on Liebig is shocking so avoiding the CBD so to speak. Already tried to get him to stock Eukanuba but says he has to draw the line. If he stocks that, people will want Purina, or EVO, or Bonnie........ and wont have space or knowledge for dog accessories etc.
  3. tlc - there are the odd mornings I go to work late due to hours in lieu, but not that often. Yep... would have been my brother pushing the EVO - tried it on me too, but to no avail! Can't say much re: the unfair dismissal, except to say she just recently started there and has been VERY hard done by. PS - My brother will shortly be opening an Aquarium here in town. Just finalizing some details the next couple of weeks. He will stock cold water species, tropicals, and marine tropical fish as well as all the gear - tanks, heaters, pumps, filters, lights, food, live food, medicines, water additives, plants, corals, rocks, gravel etc etc. It will be the only one-stop aquarium this side of Geelong (which is where most local fish enthusiasts have been going!) There is one in Portland but is not much chop... Poor advice, limited stock, very pricey too. Edited due to terrible spelling!!!
  4. Agreed - the staff at Pet Stock ARE rude! I experienced this just this morning! If I didn't desperately need a new pooper scooper (they had them on special) I'd have walked out too! Love Prime on Fairy St - they have some 'show' stuff you can't get anywhere else. Not a huge range of stuff but some great hard-to-find items. I get all my bulk kibble there and bought some great beds there last week cheaper than pet stock sell a similar but inferior bed. They are great for meds and supplements etc too. Lava street pet shop is as good as useless - to match their advice! I have officially boy-cotted Petgoods Direct due to an unfare dismissal of a great staff member there recently (not my brother - he resigned!) They are bloody rediculous with their prices anyway.... Love to go for a walk but working all day and again Sat, so wont be out til Sunday morning which sux as you guys have training. I love emoticons
  5. Great, thanks - will pop in and grab one in the morning :D
  6. I'm interested to hear about Lava Street too. I don't go there but have heard good things. I did ring them once when I first moved here re: hip scoring and was told by the vet he didn't know how to x-ray for scoring which I thought was odd....
  7. Great news Pandii ...but did the vet give any indication as to the blue 'cloudiness' of his eyes? Don't look right to me...
  8. Nice pics Pandii! God Tarni looks like a clumsy dufous - all legs! Good luck at the vets with Seb tomorrow - I hope I'm wrong about him.
  9. Hard to say re: rimadyl tabs. Not quite up on duration requirements with rimadyl but if he's given you 40 then I'd say that's the course requirement. Never hurts to ring and check though, if you're concerned. Yep, we had a lovely walk today - good weather and not a soul at the beach. Pandii took her camera but I think my very demanding attention-seeking puppy made it near impossible to take any photos! Did you end up getting ANY shots Pandii? ETA - Watch out for them SCARY boat trailers, 'eh Sebbie!
  10. Just bumping for walkers tomorrow (Sunday). Meet at 10:00am at Killarney. Near end of Mahoneys Rd, turn left to boat ramp. Proceed along Basin Track past boat ramp to car park at end of track. I know Pandii is coming with Seb - any other takers? Unfortunately, I realise this conflicts with training for many, but about the only time in the week I can get the dogs out for a really good run.
  11. TLC - as you have since discovered, by conversion, Cooper is on a pretty standard dose. Rimadyl is as good as useless in small doses so 80mg daily is correct. There is a fairly narrow 'window' with Rimadyl between what is 'too little' and 'too much', to be effective. Rimadyl is widely used and very safe. As your 'google' source suggests - watch his faeces. Blood is the most common sign. Rimadyl can (if administered for a long period or at too high a dose) cause the lining of the stomach to lift and be excreted. Not a huge ordeal if you catch it early, so just check his stools. I'm sure he'll be fine in no time, but keep us posted....
  12. :D TLC - I think you should sit back with a nice BIG glass of red!
  13. Tez - it's a bit odd they want Jane to stay o'night. I was a locum Vet nurse/tech for many years and obviously worked in a huge number of clinics all around Australia and I have NEVER heard of this before, unless there were complications which was extremely rare. Desexing is just a day procedure - fast her from the night prior, drop her off early and the vets normally call to say she's come around and can go home! Obviously she'd need to be kept in to keep her wound clean etc, and kept quiet to protect sutures etc but I'm sure she'd be happier at home than caged at the clinic. Don't know what vet you see, but I would be questioning why...... (Just my opinion!)
  14. Yep... Tarni is the main reason I'm going! Since her first adventure last week, she has been, well, a bit 'vocal' this week, wanting to get out for a run again! She's driving me NUTS! Also trying to get some weight off Amy before her shows and free running is the only way... Spose Belle can tag along too... :D
  15. Hey All! Would love to arrange a walk for as many of us as possible on Sunday morning (plenty of notice!!!). Thought we could meet at Killarney Beach at about 10:00am for a romp. I will be there anyway, but would be nice if a few others could get along too. It's a great place to let 'em run wild! So...... who's in? tlc - sorry to hear about Cooper. Could have been worse, but yeah, he's going to go MAD stuck at home so long. Poor bugger!
  16. Think there are some hydro-baths for sale in 'Off Topic' in the Marketplace thread.....
  17. RJ - I still have your computer stick thingy. If we don't catch up on a walk soon I shall bring it around.
  18. Thanks JJ, How did Tarni cope with a run with the big kids. I remember back to when mine were pups and Lacy my second eldest she just wouldn't quit wouldn't let me carry her when I thought she had had enough, she just wanted to go go go. Then when Tully came along she would walk and run a bit them I had to carry her for a ways so I started taking a little doggy carry bag so that when she got tired up she would run to me, Id just pop the bag down and in she would pop then after about 10 minutes when she had recovered she would get out and off she would go again!! Of course now they are the opposite theres no stopping Tully but Lacy on the other hand would prefer slow pace :p The bolded bit of your post, thats what i said about everyone of mine as a puppy!! but yes she is very cute!! TLC, Tarni was pretty good on her first adventure out. A shocker for getting under ones feet but had a blast running on the sand and in the water. She couldn't keep up with my others who took off up into the scrub hunting rabbits but Sebbie kept her company down on the beach. She did really well. We walked a fair way and she kept up until just near the cars on our return she was obviously getting really tired so I carried her a while. Not good to over-excert a baby.
  19. Chan will be home all day tuesday, as I am taking the car to Warrigal. Pop around with the disc and stay for a cuppa!
  20. TLC - Great pics - looked like you had a great time! Just Me and Pandii at Killarney but had a great walk. Weather was perfect and the dogs had a ball! I am probably bias, but isnt that the sweetest face you ever saw? Nice pics of Tarni, Pandi!!!
  21. TLC & RJ - Sorry, just read your posts. I can't get out in the arvo. Have to go in the morning on Sunday. Will be at Killarney soon after 10am if you are interested. I realize it conflicts with your training though...
  22. I can't bring Tarni then if Dante is coming. I just can't risk it. Fair enough - hopefully some will read this in the morning... didn't realise how late it was! Pretty quiet here - hence my presence on DOL! Ok, well I'll leave about 10am then....
  23. You can tell I'm BUSY at work!!! I normally get to Killarney about 10:00am - but happy to adjust to accomodate sleepy heads! For those that wish to join me - how about we meet at the end of Basin Track at 10am? Turn left onto Mahoneys Rd at Killarney, (Turn Left at antique shop) Turn Left down dirt track, past boat ramp, right to the end. There is a car-park there (end of track). If you see a white 4WD, that's ME! I'll be down on the beach. Pandii - can you text anyone who's numbers you've got? I don't have anybody's mobile numbers..... Might even take baby Tarni out - if anyone is bringing an un-vaccinated dog along, PLEASE let me know here before I leave!!!!!!! BTW - Pandii - what's happening - do you still need me to pick-up the Rescue Shar Pei from Melbourne? Haven't heard anything via PM on DOL, that's all.
