Is It A Puppy Thing Or Is She Going To Remain Like This?
Bubitty replied to Bubitty's topic in General Dog Discussion
YAY!!!!!!!!!! Squeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!! I was worried it was just a puppy thing because I have read somewhere that puppies REALLY enjoy life! -
Hi Folks Just have a question as Bitty is my first pup. She is a REALLY happy puppy! OH calls her “Sunshine and Rainbows” because this is how she is. Always happy, always looks like she’s having the time of her life. I’m just wondering if this is a puppy thing (are puppies happier than older dogs?) or is this her personality? I mean my older boy is not a sad dog, but he’s fairly normal/mellow in attitude whereas this little girl is always enjoying life and just so………………..cheerful about everything! We are wondering how long we will be able to enjoy this for! We think its one of her best traits. Anyone have a pup like this who grew up and stayed the same?

What Strange Tastes Do Your Dogs Have?
Bubitty replied to mutt lover's topic in General Dog Discussion
Bubby LOVES durian. Bitty hasn't tried it yet so must test it on her soon! Bubby also LOVES Pho! Goes mad when I am making the stock and he always has to have a small doggy serve and then sits at the bowl for about 2 hrs afterwards Bitty loves raw veggies! I think she was a vegetarian in her last life! She eats more veg than me!!! -
Well, that sounds as though your 'girl's have got the female attributes covered! Are there any 'bitches' out there who are loving and nurturing - as all good women should be? Yes, my Leah is like that. She's the biggest snuggler and the sweetest girl - she'd love to be cuddled all day. She's been a mum a couple of times and according to her breeder, was really good at it, which I can just imagine. My Bitty is a feral banshee but she is soooooooooo loving! Absolutely thrives on pats and cuddles! Not a single b*tchy bone in her body! And I was so worried that if I got a female dog she would not be loving! Get another female dog and watch the dynamic change. ;) They don't call em bitches for nothing! My sweet little girl is a proper dragon if she's got a more submissive bitch to boss around. Really??? Cuz her mother and grandmother are really sweet and they LOVE each other! Not a single mean bone! Plus when she was down at the breeders, her best buddy was her litter sister! Mind you Bitty is a right pest! A b*tch she is not but a pest she definitely is!

Leaving More Than 1 Dog At Home Alone
Bubitty replied to all that glitters's topic in General Dog Discussion
My two try to shove me out the door every morning! The little one gets 4 different treat boxes/empty bottles/a big bone and something buried in the yard. The big one lives inside and gets a breakky bowl, a box to rip up and a treat cup. Routine is make big one do a sit stay. Take little one outside, give little on her bone, recall her and proceed to give her all her goodie items which she carries into the yard one by one. She then turns her back to us and chews on her bones and we close the back door. Then we call big one over, give him his breakky bowl. While he eats this we scatter his box and cup around the house. Leave and close front door while he is still eating. They are so used to this and expect/want us to leave every morning so they can get their loot! -
My puppy LOVES ice! I put some cubes into her bowl to keep her water cold but she always bobs for them and gets her face all wet! It is soooooooooo cute!!!!

Bubby is very handsome and quite the gentleman, plus he has rippling muscles and looks manly so I think he reflects his gender. Bitty is pretty appearance wise but she's a tomboy by nature. She's very snorty, snores like a banshee and acts like a bit of a broad so I dont think she's very lady-like at all.

Things You Never Thought You Would Do Before

I am teaching her to take off my socks GR! Mooper: I feel like you do about opening cupboards! Opening cupboards and getting something for me would be neat but not sure I want her to know how to open cupboards! -

Ok you got me there! ;) I worry about the really hard crumbly poos! So I squeeze them and rate them from 1-5 with 5 being the hardest and if he poos a 4-5, its more pureed veg for dinner! Dog poo is meant to be hard and crumbly Bub.. it shows a good quantity of bone in it. Vet says it should be firm but leave a slight mark on the ground when picked up and that crumbly is too hard. -

It is 8.25 am. I am sitting on a chair with a loose sock on my foot, foot dangling and wiggling in the air, clicking and treating every time my dog bites the sock! If someone told me I'd be doing this 10 yrs ago I'd tell them they were crazy! What weird situations have you found yourself in with your dogs? What stuff have you had to do that you NEVER thought you would do? I also squeeze poo! Before I pick it up I squeeze it to check that Bubby is not constipated!

I have bought both an older dog and a puppy and the only difference I can see is that the puppy is more people focussed whereas my older boy is very independent. This could also just be a personality thing! Depending on how much training the older dog has had, I found my older one extremely easy to live with and he just blended in without having to go through the “puppy dramas”.

Ohh what a divine baby!!!!!!!!! Absolutely GORGEOUS!!!!!!! I love seeing them at the Easter Shows with their big bibs on!!!!!!!

Question About Bonding And Training
Bubitty replied to Bubitty's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Thanks guys for the great advice! I think you really hit home with “She’s a pet”. She is a very much loved pet and sometimes I get pushy and perhaps forget that a bit! -
Sorry this is going to be a long, ranting and very odd post! I have two dogs, an 8 month old Bitty and a 4 yr old Bubby. Bitty and I have a great bond and she’s my training buddy. She and Bubby LOVE each other but she still prefers me to him at this stage. Bubby likes to dive into the bushes to prowl after rats/possums and is always trying to get Bitty to come out with him at night. Bitty prefers to stay inside and play games with me and do some training and won’t go out with Bubby if I am inside playing with her. Thing is after we spend time together Bitty doesn’t mind going outside to rat with Bubby. What I’m worried about is, and this sounds very silly, if I keep letting her outside to rat with him (after she and I hang out), will it come to a point where Bitty will enjoy ratting with Bubby more and then will not want to play and train with me and will just want to go ratting with him? Right now she’s not particularly into ratting so I can just keep her inside with me and it doesn’t phase her. Should I just squish the ratting part and keep her inside? Bubby does really want her out with him and he’s REALLY happy when she comes out so I feel a bit slack but she is my “training” dog so I don’t want her to be like Bubby, who is very independent. I dont mind this trait in him but I did get Bitty with a view of hoping for a different dog (which she is). Or does it not really matter? If she views me as fun and enjoys training she always will?

Both of my goldens scurry around and try to catch lizards. I think of it as “entertainment” for them. Not sure how many they have eaten but it hasn’t hurt them one bit!
-
2 meals a day for the 7.5 month old and the 4 yr old! I just feel more comfortable feeding them 2 smaller meals. Mind you they'd eat all day if they could!

Thanks for the link and explanation! Was especially interesting reading about the “Blues”. I’m in love with demanding Tri Girl!!!!!! Booooooooooooooooooooooooooootiful!!!!!!

Do You Train Your Dogs Equally?
Bubitty replied to Bubitty's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Hehe your post makes me feel less guilty Monelite! I will admit Agility Dogs I am lazy when it comes to training Bubby. Actually I am not even sure where to start to teach him some if Bitty’s tricks! He’s very……………….mellow. For me it’s very hard to walk away from the fun dog who’s like “Wheeeeeeee!!!! What we doing next Ma?????? TEACH ME!!!!!” to work with the dog who’s half asleep 90% of the time! -
Just curious as to whether everyone trains all their dogs equally or some more than others? I must confess that Bitty is my “training” dog. I just find her so easy to train and she acts like it’s the best thing on earth so she’s my training buddy. Bubby on the other hand is my snugglebum. He’s as good as gold in terms of everyday life but I must admit I find him harder to teach tricks to than Bitty so we’ve never gone beyond the general good manners commands and a few basic tricks. I have been told that if I were to try and train Bubby to Bitty’s level I would learn a lot more and its more rewarding to train and motivate a dog like Bubby. It would challenge my thinking. So I’m curious, do you train all your dogs equally?

How Does Your Dog Let You Know What They Want?
Bubitty replied to mutt lover's topic in General Dog Discussion
Bubby will stand in front of me, look at whatever he wants, look back at me and then raise a paw. He does it for everything, especially when there are goodies being baked in the oven. Bitty will plonk herself in front of me and flash me her megawatt smile! If I only pat her and wont give her what she wants she tries to smile even harder to the point where I think she’s going to get a face cramp!
