Thanks Bully and Persephone :D I'll give the olive oil trick a go and see if it improves. She's sound asleep at the moment, so I'll wait for her to wake up and see how she is. Probably is more than likely a mozzie bite, but would rather be safe than sorry. Thanks again

Think this is the appropriate place for this. Scarlet's been shaking her head a lot on and off for the past 20-30 mins. I've had a look in her left ear which seems to be what's irritating her but couldn't see anything in it. I'll make a vet appointment for her tomorrow in case it's a developing ear infection but is there anything I might be able to do for it for now?

The Official January Photo A Day Challenge
iltby replied to Ashanali's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
How exciting I've taken about 50 today, having trouble deciding I really enjoyed snapping away at two king parrots on our balcony though, so here we go - ETA: That's brilliant, Ash! What a great capture Oh, um, EXIF data- Canon 1000D 100mm macro lens ISO: 200 Shutter speed: 1/400 Not sure of the F number  F/4.0 Photoshop- Levels slightly adjusted, brightness increased by 15 and contrast increased by 10. Oh, and left side cropped a bit. -
Yup, that's live view. Most people tend not to use it because it's an excuse not to use the view finder.
-
I have the 1000D I'd just start out on the auto setting and slowly make your way around to Program and then to Aperture and Shutter Speed Priority. The manual it comes with is pretty helpful, have a good read of that to get a basic understanding of all the different settings and then as others have said, just experiment Have fun!

Good to have you back Luke I was beginning to miss you

I am very lucky Really sorry to hear about your ankle CM, is it feeling any better now? I love the second shot, the captured expression is great I took a couple just now with my 1.4. It's great, though very hot outside so the dogs weren't very co-operative-
-
I was absolutely spoilt, I also got a 100mm macro lens I took this with it today, though didn't get time to try the 1.4. Will have to reserve tomorrow for photography-
-
I got my 1.4 today, too Can't wait to start using it!
-
Looks great Nat

Oh whoops I didn't think it quite looked like Fly but couldn't figure out who it was. I guess shows and obedience trials would be a great place to practice dog photography, I'm not sure that I have any of that near me.
-
That's gorgeous, Fly's pretty photogenic! I didn't realise you showed.

http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=153041 and http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=153707 Thanks very much Spose I should've thought of that... I really like these ones, they're quite expressive or something. ETA: After reading I think I'll go for the 1.4. Thanks very much all, I'll butt out now!
-
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canon_EF_50mm_lens I was just reading a bit about them here, I didn't realise they were like a series of lenses. Would you guys recommend the 1.4 or 1.8? ETA: Really sorry to hijack the thread guys! :D
-
I love this one!!!!!!!!! :D Thanks so much There's something really satisfying about water drops
-
I love depth of field, too, it really adds something extra to photos. Thanks for telling me a bit about the lens, I'll definitely look into it Here's a few shots I just took if they're okay to post :D - And one from last week that I really liked-
-
I've spent a while learning about the dynamics of my camera, but don't know much about lenses yet. What's this one you're all using/talking about? :D So far I've just been using a 18-55mm standard zoom lens and 58mm macro lens. ETA: I really like that shot of Ruger actually.
-
Awesome shots! I especially like the first. Love yours too, Terra. I've been feeling completely uninspired lately, everything I take seems really boring or simply bad. There's so much to learn too, it's really overwhelming!
-
I might snag this one up I'm a big Goldie lover, hehe. ETA: Whoops, nevermind, didn't realise you addressed Harminee!

Are the photos allowed to be manipulated/edited or do they have to be completely natural?

Drive Training Using A Light Or Laser Pointer?
iltby replied to Luke GSP's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
iltby, I am not trying to satisfy/burn their drive but rather train them "in" drive with the aim of utilising their memory of action to really cement the training. I have considered flyball as a fun thing to do with them but emailed my local club and heard nothing back so we have not persued it. Aah righto, sorry about that - shouldn't reply at 2:30 in the morning. Good luck with it -
Hi Tas, It's basically just a matter of playing around with certain tools I use the extract tool (Filter>Extract) to extract parts I want out of photos (i.e: to remove dogs from backgrounds) and then just play around with colours/brushes for the background. Just fiddle around with some photos to start off with. Ridgie and Fiona, will do yours soon!
