  1. yes yes please post photos! my girl hates it... she gives us dirty looks throughout the whole bath time.. but is extra happy at the end of it.. well, the vet actually told us to shower her everyday when we first got her.. cos her itchyness was sooo bad we shaved her to give her coat a "fresh start" cos it was all smelly and matted. but we figured it was too often... so we started off with once a week.. see aloveen has conditioner so it has like soothing effects I think you can get a generic brand with oatmeal that's cheaper and just as good. but the trick is not to put too much conditioner. Also, we had to make sure her hair was thoroughly rinsed cos her double coat is probably harder to handel than Gomez's. We also put some aloe vera on her skin, it cooled her belly and helped with the scabs.. but there was one night when we were out, we resorted to calamine lotion... But i think the main thing was the aloveen, and the change of diet. Nutrience Derma really helped and aloveen too so i'd recommend it.. some said that malaseb was too strong for her
  2. yeah completely off topic too but he is gorgeous! i always thought terriers were hyperactive terrors.. but thats just a terrible misconception no one bothered to correct my keeshond had skin problems to when she came to use (adopted at 6 yo) and we were advised to use aloveen to soothe the skin. she didn't have flaky skin, btu she had lots of lumps whichc became scabs after... but even i didn't realise its shedding season, no wonder evern after her daily brush when she cuddles, my black pants are covered with hair!!!
  3. sorry to hijack ur thread saintlysusan, but u might be able to help me out as well, we got our dog (she's 6 now) from someone else aboujt 6 months ago and never realised her nails are or may be an issue. she walks fine, but anyway the first time we sent her for a wash, we requested her nails be trimmed. Then a month later we sent her to be groomed, again they said trimming is part of it... after that we generally bathed her ourself cos she had a skin problme and the vet told us to shower her more frequently. 3 months down the road, we noticed her nails were getting long (not to the point where it curled) but long so when she walks, the nails are slanting sideways... so we sent her off for a wash and specifically requested the nails eb trimmed.. (this was at the vets) she came home and I wasn't aroudn so I couldn't check them (was OS for 1 month) came bak and noticed her nails were long again! I was like, "wow they grow fast" and sent her off again to a diff groomer. but then she came back and I did see her nails had been trimmed.. but it still seemed long to me.. I'm too scared to trim them myself (having hheard fhorror stories of wat can happen if youhave no experience). but i haven't been adviced that her nails are too long. I also didn't realise they would be painful. What do you suggest t this point?

  11. Hi everyone, I sent my baby for a wash today because she needed her nails clipped. Usually we wash her ourselves with Aloveen.. and we are really careful to dry her well... My friends have sent their dogs to this place and recommended it to us. but since she's been home, she's been scratching and crying non-stop.. We're thinking its either the shampoo is too strong for her skin or they forgot to rinse her? whats the best remedy for this? DOLers! I'm in need of your expertise .. Please help!!
  12. is it possible to fix this kind of thing? I've touched it where the chip is as well as at the gum to see if she winces but it seems to be ok. She was just being sullen because she was cooped up for the last 2 weeks.. took her to the park today and she's fine. but i will still get her checked out at the vet and will post back Thanks
  13. just bumping this up.. anyone?? looks like i should just take her to the vet sigh..
  14. I'm so paranoid!! its not so much that its been worn down (well that's only on one side) but on the one I noticed last night. it seemed almost like there was a chip on the front side.. so kinda along the length of the tooth? Does that make sense?? She's happy but she's been kinda grumpy (thought its because we sent her for a grooming at our vet and she was left there all day plus with the wet weather she hasnt been able to go out and play) I'm worried because we give her lots of pigs ears to chew on and kangaroo bones.. thought they might be too hard? Akitaowner: she's a keeshond we shaved her in the summer cos she has very irritable skin
  15. shmoo where are you located? and wat are your prices like?
  16. I was playing around with my furkid a few days ago and i noticed that her left tooth is slightly chipped. by that I mean her canine.. We've only had her recently (few months) adopted her from someone else... but we all still love her!! so i figured it must be from before.... tonight I was brushing her and mucking around and thought i'd check her teeth to see if she was ok.. I noticed on the other side, it was chipped but not at the tip like the left one. it seems to be chipped on the front side? I'm not sure if it will cause her pain and stuff.. I mean for us, if too much is chipped, it exposes the nerves... I'm super paranoid.. I'm not sure wat to do!!! Can anyone help!?!?
  17. I'd be interested to know where to get the zinc as well.. do you just feed the fish oil capsules whole?
  18. Yeah my dog as well! we recently started feeding her fish, and we cut it up and she just seemed to swallow the pieces whole... she goes mad...
  19. Erny Thanks for replying, I posted in another thread, but my friends dog has white spots which looks as though a pimple has popped and dried up. is that the same?
  20. my friend's dog's got these little lumps all over her body, but she doesn't have fleas. are they flea bites?
