  1. With their new toys (and we had some stinky-eye lip curling about the Gecko, because Stevie and Jodie both wanted it most!)
  2. TD came and visited again = more photos of the growing man :D It's so hard to pick the best!
  3. Jake and all the cuties in this thread. I'm not sure that this is cute. Especially not when my husband realises how much Sammy is enjoying the gardening.
  4. Congratulations! How fun! Sammy has added so much to our family (whether the cat likes it or not). I wish you all the love and cuteness and chewed thong smiles you can handle :D
  5. He goes around and around his bowl for ages in case there's something left in a hidden corner. It drives the girls crazy because they know they can't do swapsies until everyone's finished completely, so they check each others and then hang back just staring at him wishing he would hurry up!
  6. I have a good collection of old crockpot and big casserole dishes around for water bowls from our local Salvos! Hmm, the silicone bakeware might be worth a try - except Perse how do you think it would survive a 4 month old puppy
  7. Ah, we have a petstock fairly close by now - will check them out! Can the heavy bit go in the dishwasher when needed?
  8. We're looking for new bowls. We've had the basic brownish on the outside, blue on the inside earthenware type bowls for years because they're heavy enough not to tip over and they're available nearby. Jodie's died yesterday when the puppy chased a ball over it, and I'm finding them a bit big and heavy to carry three at a time. I'd like to find something a bit more attractive though - and if they're light but still non-slip, even better. And they must be dishwasher proof. Has anyone used http://pets1.com.au/ModaPet-Cinnamutt-Pet-Bowl-Large-947ml.html ModaPet? Or have any other suggestions?
  9. Just playing devil's advocate, but if you refuse to leave when ordered the emergency services can force you to leave. If you somehow avoid that, you'll still possibly be putting other people at risk when they try to get to you - even if it's a jetskier going through floodwaters, they're putting themselves in danger to help. ShowPony, when there's a fire in the Grose I don't know what to do - I have family both sides so no matter which way the wind blows there's a risk! The northern side have fewer escape options but much more experience. The southern side involves kids and they're closer to the bush. And that valley is so wild and amazing!
  10. I think being careful about bull breed crosses in Victoria is wise, given the stupid laws about seizure on sight Good luck, sounds like a good home!
  11. He's trained very well - he was sitting waiting for his cue to eat the 'nana! It was black and very stinky and banana makes me even if it's a healthy one so there was no way he was eating it! I can handle cat poo treats but not banana!
  12. I almost lost a battle of wills last night. Sammy found a rotten banana on our walk and planted his bum and WOULD NOT MOVE ON! It was the most wonderful smelling food he'd ever encountered and all my treats, squeaking noises, commanding, requesting, pleading and begging wouldn't budge him We were next to a really busy road so I wasn't game to drop the lead and run off without him. Finally I ran him back towards the banana but managed to run past it because he was on his feet, and we kept going back in a run in the other direction. This is one stubborn young man when it comes to food and play  He is now sitting very nicely and waiting to be told he can eat his food, just like the girls. He can also back out of the fridge door on command (though I can't seem to stop him sticking his head in to start with), and sit at the doorway to the kitchen or lounge with the girls and wait until we've eaten our dinner. He's learnt some great social skills with other dogs and people - and he's yearning for the day he's as big as Harper and can wrestle her properly!
  13. AWL should be able to do their own press release. TD or others can you contact Tim V and ask? Well done Caz for following this through. Buddy's love won't be forgotten, and neither will his story.
  14. I've PMd or facebooked or emailed a few people for a Sammy BBQ but I'm losing track of who! If you haven't received a message but think you should have - either because you're a Lab fan or have been on DOL for years and will be in Sydney on Saturday 16 Feb - please don't take it personally and just PM me and we'll sort it out Powerlegs please email me your latest contact details if you can - Greg needs your OH's backup to survive this! Cheers!
  15. On twitter, a littleJRT type found in Gordon. Anyone recognise? Not sure if this link will work, might have to get on a real computer: . http://twitter.com/rtennantwood/status/295409244625330176/photo/1 Eta older looking male, white with brown patches.
  16. I'm glad this thread is giving some smiles! Cyclone Sammy keeps roaring through the house, over all the toys spread everywhere, out into the clamshell, back under Stevie, over Jodie, round the lounge room then start again! He pooed in the house earlier This rain is too heavy to toilet in but fun to gallop through! In about five minutes he'll slide open the bathroom door for himself and collapse for an hour. Then up for another wild thundering zoomie!
  17. PS they must be great drugs Sammy's now on a cup and a half of Canidae in the mornings and looks for more, and got through a massive joint of turkey wing the other night! He's eating almost as much as Stevie and Jodie combined and still looks skinny!
  18. Lovely! Bridgette and Buddy will keep showing the world how wonderful a good Kelpie can be! (nice 18yo too ;) )
  19. Meeting children is ok What is all this about? Whirly and flappy things need consideration. Yay I'm home! THIS is where I'm meant to be :)
  20. Sammy and I had a proper walk today. Apart from randomly walking in between my legs at times, he's very good :) There were lots of new things to see and smell. He thinks every person he sees might be a new best friend ever and gets so excited to meet them, so we're going to work on sitting and ignoring people. He also discovered duck poo, skate boards, bicycles, kids on swings, and bridges. Three bridges - one is a wobbly footpath over a stormwater drain, one is a footbridge over the M5 and the last was the road bridge over the M5, with traffic going everywhere. Nothing phases this puppy! The only thing he really couldn't work out was a whirly thingy in a front yard. We're also going to have to work on the last little bit of the walk home. Once he knows where he is, he pulls hard trying to run back to make sure his girls are ok! Some random piccies of my big boy: Crossing the M5 - not scared by traffic, but they didn't have THIS in Woodstock! Beautiful lake (very yukky really) and ducks It's WATER! I'm MEANT to go in it! Catching up with some very elderly ladies - maybe they're my next best friends!
  21. Awww, Fern and Willow, so pretty. I'd love to know how they turned out, all grown up.
  22. Nic, you're a superstar to even be thinking about this stuff after the last few months. And it's nice to read that you have your horses home and the dogs are running outside and it's a nice day to hang out with chooks. That's all.
