  1. The hours changed a bit and I'm not sure all the prices are the same - seems that the newer vets are keen to charge for individual items on top of the consult fee, when they used to bung in a squirt of wound guard or a peek at an ear scrape without charging. Maybe it's because I don't have rescues anymore though. The biggest innovation brought in by Green Cross is computerisation which means our huge file isn't pulled out and hoisted up on the desk anymore.
  2. I just wondered if anyone clever and technical can help legitimate rescue to pop up - it might be something I could help sponsor (not being clever or technical).
  3. How much is a paid ad on Facebook? PR ads keep coming up on my screen.
  4. Sammy's got a thing about pulling bedding of the bed. OUR bed
  5. Max can try hijacking - I'm not scared of her (much!) Sammy and I had a long walk tonight that turned out quite sad. First we spent time with TD who's having a health scare. Sammy tried hard to be patient and sit while we chatted. Then our walk turned into a battle over food - chicken bones, coffee cups, Flake flakes, and yet another dead banana skin YUK! By the time I won that battle we were near the station and I thought he'd be interested in the trains but he was more keen to meet all the people. The really sad bit was we met an old bloke who cried and had a big cuddle with Sam. Ive never seem him around before but he had a 12yo black Lab girl pass away a year ago and seeing Sammy wiggling at him brought back so many puppy memories He says at his age he won't have another dog and she was the best thing in his life since his wife died 20 years ago
  6. Oh she really has always been Mad Max! They were the funniest zoomies I've ever seen
  7. So sorry to read this Perse. Hamlet was such a DOL character and will be sadly missed. to you. Your home and family has changed so much in the last year or two. Look after yourself.
  8. How beautiful! You've almost sold me on the breed for 'one day' Do they come in black? And where did you get the little pillow with her name on it?
  9. Congratulations Kura! Don't sell your cupcakes short K9Angel! I love the surprise fruit inside them - delicious! Sammy has just demonstrated 100% recall on his first ever bushwalk (may have had something to do with K9A's easter egg treats). Gannon's Park at Oatley has lovely bush tracks just perfect for learning how to keep an eye on your humans in case they suddenly stop, or turn around and walk away and leave you alone! Stevie and Jodie taught Sammy to watch out in case we did something tricky like that. Stevie showed him her splashing pond and Jodie showed him how to roll in possum poo. After we had turned around properly to come back along the track, Sammy kept taking off like a rocket, racing along the path with all legs and ears flying. All we had to do was call and he'd come sprinting back again, but we think it was because he could smell where we'd been that he felt he knew where we were going and could take off by himself with confidence. Either that, or he was trying to teach us to give him treats when he ran back. We're only giving treats at random times now, not every single perfect 'Come' and 'Sit'. He's totally flaked again now, after coming home for clean water splashing. What a HUGE weekend for Sam!
  10. Ha! I broke DOL AGAIN just when I hit post... Anyway, I was saying thanks T (and Leah) for the lovely photos. I thought we'd need video to capture the silliness of the zoomies but I think you got it! It was a great day and yes we must do it again one day
  11. We're all exhausted in this house! Nothing madder than Pug/Lab/Daney zoomies! Five black dogs and a blue fawn brindle all in a blur! Except Jodie thought it was a bit silly when there were people around just waiting to throw the ball for her. All the dogs were wonderful except possibly Princess Stevie feeling like she was being treated like a dog, not a person, when it came to waiting for us all to eat. Must work on that. We had the most beautiful salads and cupcakes and brownies - special mention must be made of the Dog Poo On The Lawn cupcakes by Cazstaff and Leah's puppy shaped brownies! K9Angel thought she couldn't come so sent her partner with lovely surprise cinnamon cupcakes and a HUGE number of special Easter theme home-made dog treats - then she and Jack and sweet Jasmine turned up later after puppy duties anyway :) MadWoofter made an awesome Greek salad AND a rice salad and when the maddest zoomies were over she ducked home to bring back the gorgeous Tess and Fleming. Minimax and the family WOW brought so much good stuff but the bbq was running a little late due to the damp so they didn't get to eat much - next time I owe them a big meal - actually Minimax if you're quick tomorrow and come back you MIGHT get some cupcakes! Gotta love DOL for giving me the chance to meet such lovely generous people! And of course TD was there taking photos! In spite of her bad back she managed to cuddle all the dogs, don't worry! Harper was very very good for being such a big puppy with potentially pug-squishing feet. My lovely parents visited too - dad was well and truly PUGGED! Sammy is now snoring through his dinner time. Tired dogs are good dogs :D
  12. Maybe no tennis but my house is pretty well wet-dog-proof and we have a gas BBQ backup under cover :D
  13. Sun's shining at the moment! Radar doesn't look too bad. We'll be right
  14. Stevie seems to have started a hot spot and today Sammy has grown out of his puppy collar They saved me from a chat with the clean-cut young bible men - they turned around in our driveway before even coming to the door
  15. ...just trying to imagine a committee of 18 animal rescuers actually making a decision...
  16. Sooooo many of them are me How about: You have a box of dog toys on the shelf so you always have a gift for them if they need one or for the next five Christmases, but for Valentines you got your husband ANOTHER copy of the same CD you got him at Christmas because you forgot. (It's a nice CD, though - Sarah Blasko )
  17. Tennis is on too if the weather holds up so bring your racquet if you're keen Also OH has made a special request for non-dog-mad partners to please come and save him
  18. We're on tomorrow rain hail or shine. At the moment it's shiny and nice :) I can fit quite a few people into my dog-proof house so please come along - or ring me if you have any doubts. I've got a job application to finish by 5pm today so please forgive me if I don't respond this afternoon Cheers
