  1. marcos - no actually, they didn't feel like doing it last night obviously! Our net is down at home, so I might not get the video up until the end of the week when optarse decides to come and fix it! I do have a sound file of them already uploaded though? This is them "singing" as we call it http://www.filedump.net/Uploads/Temp/Puppi...es_Singing2.mp3 (Right click and save as) ETA: I'd love to see some photos of your beagles though!
  2. Marcos, I'll try and film my two tonight doing their play fighting so you can compare. But it does sound like beagle playing. My first attack the ears first, then the neck.
  3. Like BC said, are you sure they aren't just playing? I have two beagle girls who are 11 months old and they play fight. When visitors are there and they are doing their little playing, the visitors think they are fighting because of the way it sounds. They've done this since we got them and it's just the way they play. They mouth each other and .. we call it "sing" to each other in a high pitch sound, which somtimes does come down to a growl when they get rough.
  4. When you are changing the food, are you gradually changing and fading the old in with the new? Or just changing straight away? Changing food should be a 4 or 5 day process. Maybe changing the food is playing havic with his insides? I'd definitely be getting him to the vet. I would have freaked out after a week.

    Chocky

Sorry for your loss. I sat here laughing with you while you remembered the fun times and crying with you when you speak about your loss. RIP Chocky! Run free boy
  6. Rom, can you explain exactly what the courses will entail for us newbies?
  7. We bought our last lot of Royal Canin through them and they had great service and .. the product is just what you'd buy from a shop! Plus, they send you a free present with each order.
  8. Sorry for the loss pix Run free Kaeleigh
  9. Wow, how is he this morning? Maybe you should be searching around for another vet? :S
  10. I don't know what this chewy stick did wrong, but she sure showed it! (Right click and save as) http://filedump.net/Uploads/Movies/Sally_L...hewy_Sticks.avi It's about 5mb.
  11. Thanks everyone, she sure was a special girl who filled my husbands families lives with love and many great memories. It will sure be lonely up there at christmas this year with no nose nudging your arm for some bacon for her breakfast Miss you Kel!
  12. Tonight at 6:30pm, my husbands family lost an important part of their family. Kelly, their 16 (one month off being 17) year old dog was put to sleep due to a rapidly growing cancer that had grown on her leg. Unfortunately today it got to the point where she couldn't walk, wasn't eating and there was blood in her urine. It was time to make the decision to euthaniase her. She lied in the middle of the lounge room, facing the view of the city, watching the thunder storm roll on over as she had her whole family sit around her in a circle to say good bye. I think this was harder than saying good bye to my own family dog. To see the whole families hearts break as they said goodbye was just horrible. The vet did a home visit as the family didn't want to move her around in the car. With one last sigh, she was gone This was the hardest thing I've experienced. Then the vet announced her heart had stopped beating. I've known Kelly for nearly 10 years of her life. She was such an intelligent dog who never ran away from an unfenced yard. She was so loyal she would never run away because she knew how much love and attention there was in the house for her. We all walked down and placed a shovel of dirt onto her lifeless body. Good bye Kel, who's going to share our bacon at Christmas? Who's going to clean up the scraps after a family dinner? Who's going to be nuzzling everyones arm at the dinner table for a pat? You will be greatly missed. Run along now and fly with your wings over rainbow bridge and once you're there, Gypsy will be waiting for you.
  13. Thanks for all your concern and help. We were so glad to hear that there's nothing. He just advised us that we need to teach them both to sit properly, and correct their legs if they don't sit right. By doing this, hopefully it will help Sally's muscles strengthen and teach them to sit properly without their legs sliding out.
  14. Thanks for all the finger crossing... it seems to have worked Rowan checked both of them over and Sally seems to have a loose stivell muscle... or something? But thinks that it's only loose because she's still growing and hopefully if we get her to sit properly over time, they will tighten up and not be an issue. He also checked Leia over and beside her bent tail, she is fine! So, everythings okay Very happy and a huge recommendation for Rowan and that vet, they were all very nice. To stay back after an emergency to consult us, was great.
  15. That's exactly what she does. If her legs aren't sliding out on the floors, she's sitting with her legs to the side. If her legs are spread apart and she drops, she doesn't bring them back in, she just drops and her legs are still spread out. To me it looks painful, but if she's doing it, it's obviously not to her! Hopefully this will be the case that she is just a lazy sitter. So can I name drop BL? Oh, BL that was in here today advised me to come to you. She bought her hampster in today didn't she? Thank you to everyone else for your concerns, I will let you all know this afternoon when we get home what the outcome is. If she needs x-rays, they won't be done tonight as there won't be enough time. HOPEFULLY I can just come home and say there's no concerns and we don't have to go back for x-rays. *crosses fingers/arms/legs/paws*
  16. Aww no Lauren, I hope the little mans okay. Guess Gypsy isn't very happy about having another puppy around
  17. Thanks for the explaination Allerzeit. Great to know that good hips can still mean they can sit like that. I've booked Sally in for tomorrow afternoon with Dr Rowan Kilmartin. He's going to do the consult first, and see if she needs the x-rays. If she needs them, we'll book another appointment for her. They are open till 6pm which is good because I can finish work at 4, go home and get the grubs, put them in the car and drive down to Ormeau before 5pm. I'll update you all tomorrow afternoon. Kinda makes me more scared knowing there'll hopefully be an answer tomorrow afternoon! ETA: Thanks for the referral blacklabrador, if you hadn't of mentioned him, I wouldn't have known about them.
  18. blacklabrador - oh thanks for that, I don't know about people who specialise in this area so it's great that people like yourself let me know! I'll PM you to get his details and give him a call tomorrow. Thanks! It's hard when you have vets telling you to go through a vet and other people saying go through a chiro, but if he is all three, then that's fantastic! I'd rather not have to put her through x-rays if we don't have to!
  19. Ari - We have two girls from the same litter. We own the girls and one of them is the one being tested for HD. Whilst seeing the people we bought them off a few weeks ago, the owner of my beagles mum said that Sally (our beagle) sat like her mother. Which doesn't really help my situation seeming it's hereditary. FYI - these puppies were bought from a BYB before we knew about DOL and the problems with BYB's and puppy farmers. We have learnt our lesson and won't be doing it again.
  20. Thanks Katie. I think my whole body will be cramping by Friday with all the crossing of body parts I'll be doing
  21. Allerzeit, can you explain the hip scoring to me? How does it work? Can we get a hip scoring from the x-rays? Or is that another test. ETA: we are REALLY REALLY praying it's just the way she sits
  22. Thanks Monah.. After speaking with another vet tonight, we've decided to have a consult done and if they think it needs to be done, the x-rays will be done. We both feel this is the right thing to do to eliminate any possibilities and if there is something wrong, she's still young and the operation can be done if needed. Big prices to pay for getting dogs from a BYB
  23. Malamum - thanks for that. I phoned the vet this morning who could answer some of my questions but advised I should probably speak to the other vet who had more of an insite into the situation. It's hard to know who to listen to, vets are telling me to stay away from chiro until they know what's wrong, and chiro's say to go through them first to save the cost of x-rays. The nurse I spoke to this morning advised that we should just wait a bit as she is only 10 months old and it could just be her still growing that's causing these characteristics she's showing. She said that we are the best judge of her manorisms and if we don't think she's in any type of pain, that we should just monitor her and have her checked at her next vaccination. I don't beleive there's any discomfort pain as she wouldn't be chasing her sister around the back yard, or jumping up sand dunes a the beach if she was sore. The nurse said that her lab does the same sit thing I was describing and she thought straight away it was HD but after being checked out was just the way the dog sat. She said that this could very well be the case with our girl. I don't know what's right or wrong to do, but I feel that if it becomes more obvious in her movements, we might go to the vet and have her checked out through a consultation and see what action the vet would like to take. They said with her only being 10 months old that if might not be too obvious in x-rays as she's still only young.
