  1. I think its fair enough to have concerns, but considering Tonks has been seen and assessed by Steve(who I believe to be one of the best trainers in Australia) its safe to say that, there is a fair amount of knowledge behind the decision to send her off to a family. I don't believe that she had any sort of predisposition to human aggression, human aggression was a symptom of the real issues at hand. She also does not play mouth, and you can rough house all you like, she doesn't escalate into any sort of aggression :). She has been in too many different scenarios for me to recount, but a good and recent example was I had a party at my house maybe a week and a half ago? Everyone wanted to love on the puppy (Obviously!). So she was played with, rough and tumbled, fed treats, played tug, handled, cuddled (pretty much everything you can think of!) by a group of 30+ completely different people over the course of a afternoon/night. These were not dog savvy people either. So considering she was amazing the whole night, didn't mouth a single person and the worst she did was knock over some drinks when she decided to zoomie around  . Im pretty happy :) She is deliberately not on any sort of set schedule or routine, its not a problem that has had a bandage placed over it that will simply come back in time if she is not managed properly. She doesn't need management. Now, of course as a puppy with high drive, she could turn into some sort of monster in the wrong hands. As could any puppy with that level of drive and energy! Hopefully, with the family I have chosen, and the training that they will continue to do, she will keep growing into a wonderful dog with great manners.
  2. I use premiere pro, but I'm really new to it so hopefully will get better :) Thanks guys, its really nice to be able to share her story now :)
  3. He really is . (though don't tell him I said that, we don't want him to get a big head :D ) She really is the sweetest dog, I'm so excited for her to go off to her own family :)!
  4. This is a video I made about my Foster Puppy, Tonks. At just 4 weeks of age, she had some very worrying behavioural issues, aggression towards people being the top of the list. Thankfully, with my own dedication and help from the always amazing Steve Courtney from K9 Pro, I am able to say that this is a SUCCESS story :)!
  5. What assholes I can and will have a big go at anyone who messes with my dogs. Hopefully hank is ok, I'm not sure where in NSW you are, but I have 3 older dogs who're all great with younger dogs if you need someone to interact with :)
  6. Nice meeting everyon on Saturday! Roscoe was a good man, even with his nervous handler :p Sunday is in action now! Woohoo
  7. Can recommend triple crown for sure! Dogs have amazing long yard to spend their days in, and indoor secure kennels at night. They also are only a small kennel, so you know your dog gets the attention it deserves!!
  8. Hey Guys! I'm looking for some recommendations for golden retriever breeders who have bred litters for service or assistance dogs. A friend has asked my assistance in finding a suitable puppy that she can train up (with a professional trainer assisting her) as a service dog that will be used for a wide variety of tasks. Would love some recommendations! PMs are also fine :D
  9. Thanks for all the help guys! Mr Lupin has found himself a home! A wonderful home and I am super excited for him :D
  10. Thanks for replies guys, if you know anyone looking please send them my way!! :D One application so far, but don't think its suitable sadly!
  11. They have his mum in care, so are sure on that account! NO idea what the rest is though His sister looks like a Labrador x!
  12. I wanted to share my foster puppy with you guys. He is desperate for a new home (and at 9 weeks, its key age for him to be off to a new family!). Has had 0 interest so far, so if anyone is looking for a large breed super soft family dog, please let me know! I have attached his profile below :) Hi there, my name is Lupin! My mission in life is to get cuddles! I am a happy go lucky dude with a serious love for people. Other dogs are fun too and my foster mums cat is pretty cool but nothing beats people! I am a large sable cross, which means I am going to be BIG just check out my paws! So I will need a lots of exercise/mental stimulation (Foster Mum says I'm a too smart for my own good already!) to keep me calm and happy. My foster mum is a dog trainer and I have already had lots of practice at basic training my sit is pretty good already and so is my recall! I love tug-o-war and I love food treats even more so training me is really easy. My new family will need to continue my training to make sure I grow up to be the awesome doggie that I know you want me to be! I am currently partaking in training classes with my foster mum and my new owners will have to continue these (don't worry though foster mum says she will help you find the right class to continue with). We has a form for you to fill out so we can find out if we're the right match! If you're looking for a fun dog who will cuddle your feet at night and be a great playmate for years to come then send us an email at [email protected]. I could even be an Obedience champion if you're into that sort of thing. Hope to meet you soon Love Lupin <3
  13. Lupin is 9 weeks old, Rottie mix (I think Rotti x GSD x Labrador) Hes SUPER people focused, adores people. Great with dogs, great with cats. Smart, already in training (hes got sit, down, stand, leave it and recall in progress already :D ) Hes gonna be a big dog, hes already 8+ kilos at 9 weeks Sadly he has had 0 interest yet hopefully after my big push this weekend, we'll find someone next week!!
  14. Love Monsimbee dogs. Also Beychief is a wonderful breeder, Raennik too :)
  15. I think GSDs are just brilliant. Finding that combination of different traits in a dog is to me, not really seen elsewhere outside this breed. The dog who can do a bit of everything, babysit the foster kittens, throw himself into Obedience with 110%, and still protect me, guard my house and make sure that any intruder has a very bad time. Then after making sure that everything is alright, he turns into a total goof who loves a belly rub, plays bitey face with his bro and will happily sucker you into giving him some of your dinner  It makes me sad to see the unhealthy showline dogs, but its worse still when all GSDs get placed in the same lot. There are quite a few wonderful GSDs, I happen to have two (not even a little biased :D ) and I have seen/heard of others. My boy has I think 1/4 showline in him, so hes not even straight working line. Showline shouldn't mean no working ability, thats unfair to the breed. My breeder, Christine Anderson says it wonderfully. "The essence of a GSD is NOBILITY and true nobility is not what a dog looks like but the very heart and soul of the dog, the inner being of the animal itself and its attitude to all before it. To match the dog in the area of breeding one needs to grasp that nobility in both hands and then with a humble approach, retain and steer the future generations of GSDs to ensure the dog remains what it truly is, the greatest, gracious and most noble canine in the world." Working line doesn't mean bad family pet, its all about teaching your dog where and when to use their drive. Roscoe has extreme drive, but has been taught life skills and manners :) Plus I adore him and I think the feeling is mutual
  16. What a strange thing to say. What are you assuming here? You don't even know how I train my dogs or what they do. I am assuming that you made a very rude and snarky comment regarding whether or not Huski is a dog trainer, You obviously wouldn't make such a rude comment, unless you're just a supreme trainer yourself. So my comment suggested that, since you're obviously so talented, perhaps you and Huski can both bring out your dogs and we will see whose performs better. Or perhaps, maybe you shouldn't make rude comments unless you can back it up with something?
  17. I'm going to call bullshit. In theory maybe you can train everything with positives. The problem is, reality gets in the way. I can't predict what will happen, I can't control the whole world, and I for one am not willing or trusting enough to manage a dog for years, because that's how long it may take (if ever) to progress as far as you would by adding in a simple aversive. I can see from your use of "progressive reinforcement" that there is sadly no use discussing. I honestly hope that you never end up owning the wrong dog that you wont be able to train with your progressive reinforcement, thats not a heartache I would wish on anyone. Next time you're in Sydney, you're MORE than welcome to come and see for yourself my poor poor dogs who have suffered the horror of aversives occasionally. You can meet the dog who would flip out at even hearing a cat meow (frothing at the mouth), she and the cat now spoon on their bed and play biteyface. Yes. I've only seen negative outcomes from dogs that are struck, screamed at, intimidated, collar corrected, and/or electrocuted. Short term interruptions of unwanted behaviour, yep absolutely belting or similar will stop a dog doing what its doing. Long term outcomes, a resounding no and more often than not a modification in the animal's behaviour that results in the next step in the aggression continuum being taken. We should all know on here that a canine will pair negative environmental stimuli a lot easier than that of positive, unfortunately. Sometimes it only takes one exposure. Because all aversives are obviously the equivalent of abusing a dog by hitting them or screaming at them. What a limited way to view things. You really do speak a lot, do you perhaps have any real results to show? Would love to see something, videos of dogs with such severe behaviour problems that you have fixed with progressive reinforcement? After all, I could do loads of research into swimming for example, but if I've never even been in a pool, then theres not much weight to what I say. It isn't just a disservice, but arrogance IMO, to assume dogs think and feel like we do. We are two entirely different species, dogs are amazing creatures and deserve to be treated as such. I don't love anything in the world more than I love my dogs, but they are dogs, not people, and should be treated and trained in a way that aligns best with their ability to learn. 110% agree. I love my dogs more than anything. How insulting for a dog to call them a child and treat them as such. I certainly wouldn't let a toddler race off after birds or body slam their friends. Firstly, I don’t refer to myself a ‘balanced’ trainer. Secondly, I don’t see where the lack of respect is from myself or other people in favour of the tool? It is only the people who have posted against e-collars that have become emotive in their arguments accusing anyone who is using them as abusive, inhumane etc. I think the posters in support of e-collars as a tool have responded really well considering they are being accused of mistreating dogs and not being educated enough as trainers etc. This is and always has been a heated topic. I wasn't aware that you were actually a trainer. Lets see, bring out your dogs and Huski can bring out hers. Wonder whose will be better.....
  18. guide dog have specific lines that they buy pups from, I would have a look at these :) My boy Riddick is from http://www.dogzonline.com.au/breeds/member.asp?name=SANDAKHAN and he looks very working line. http://www.degellabradors.com/ is another breeder I would highly recommend, she often sells puppies to guide dogs (my mums dog Rover comes from here and is fantastic, 3 of his siblings are now working guide dogs :))
  19. Thanks guys :D He's just so much fun to work with <3 <3. Even if he is a massive derp who runs into me half the time
  20. I only just saw this! Love it :D So cute. I think he does it better than Riddick!
  21. I made another video :) :o How to train your dog to spin.
