  1. Its both nice and sad to know that Im not the only one who deals with this on a regular basis.
  2. The amount of times I have had a small dog charge Roscoe (my 9 month old GSD puppy), barking snapping snarling away, only to have the owner say. "Oh, its because he's a German Shepherd" When did this become an acceptable reason for bad behaviour? When did it become ok for your dog to act like a little beast, because another dog is a certain breed or gender? Roscoe does not ever go after other dogs, he doesn't have any real interest in playing with dogs and hes not taken to off lead dog parks. Hes either walked on a short leash, or a tracking line if we aren't in a off leash area. So all the times this has happened, hes been leashed accordingly and reacted in the best way possible Todays example: I went to the local oval/park this afternoon in the pouring rain. Its 2 huge ovals connected by a bush track, and there's also a fenced dog park nearby. Roscoe was on a leash as was Riddick, my Lab. I noticed 2 women and 5 dogs, (4 small, 1 Ridgeback) standing under the small undercover area that's next to the toilets. None of their dogs were on leash. To walk down the bush track you have to walk within about 20 metres of the undercover area, or loop all the way around the back through the kids playground. So I made my way down the track, both dogs in nice heel positions and walking great :D. I get close, and all 5 dogs go off. Lady grabs her Ridgeback who throws himself forward barking, other women starts screeching for her little dogs, 2 had charged at Roscoe and tried to snap at his face. Roscoe was fantastic, turned his head and just ignored the little beasts. I shoved them away with my gumboot and got some nice little scratches were they tried biting down. Neither women apologise. The one with the little dogs (still barking away, just on leashes now) says "They really hate German Shepherds!", and the women with the ridgeback chimes in with, "Yeah, and you should get your dog desexed, my dog hates entire males" ..........Really guys? Really!? That is your reaction, to your dogs charging a younger dog, who was quite literally doing nothing. Not even looking your direction. Its his fault, because he happens to be a certain breed, or is still entire. I just find it ridiculous, especially considering if Roscoe was to turn around and defend himself, who would be to blame? I doubt its going to be the small fluffy cross, its going to be the "big aggressive GSD!". Am I the only one this happens to? People blaming your dogs for the actions of theirs. Its literally happened so many times now, I dont even bother to react. I just keep walking.
  3. I really hate when people do this. It drives me nuts. There are 2 main reasons. What if my dog has allergies? How do you know what someone elses dog can and cannot eat? When Riddick was younger he reacted really badly to anything that wasn't fresh. So no dried treats of any sort. I always kept a close eye but people still managed to feed him on occasion . I was walking through a fairly crowded dog event and as we passed close to this dog trainers stand, riddick sniffed the female trainers hand. I sort of noticed but wasn't too worried. About 10 minutes later he was vomiting. I went back to the women and asked her, she said yes she had fed him some "Dried bacon liver". I had a big go at her, Riddick actually vomited in front of her and she looked really shocked. I guess it never occurred to her that her "dried bacon liver, made in china" wasn't good for every dog. The other side is one anyone who goes to dog parks will see, if you take treats in and get harassed. I don't just mean a cute sniff of your treat bag, I mean you have dogs who will injure you trying to get your treats. I had a staffy leaping on my leg at the beach. I still have 3 deep scratches healing on my leg and this was over 2 weeks ago. The owner laughed, thought it was hilarious that I was bleeding all over the place. I have had to leave parks because I cannot stand having a dog BARK at me for 10 minutes straight. Its not cute, its not funny. Its downright dangerous in some cases. Ive seen children in parks with food that have been knocked over by dogs. So to answer your question, no I do not feed random dogs EVER. I don't even throw other dogs toys. I take my dogs out to play with them, its not my job to throw your dogs ball.
  4. Im having this problem with my GSD, hes almost too tall now, but hes learning to duck. Thankfully I'm not male so the number of times hes collided with the wrong spot hasn't been terribly painful
  5. I think I wont let the world suffer the horror or seeing me try and do a DWD performance . The Jump trick started by just teaching him to jump up on something (a bed in my case), added a word and just transitioned it into leaping straight up. The key is to make sure they don't just land on their hind legs. (Awful for a dog to bounce straight up and land with all their weight on their hind legs! Makes me wince when I see that.) Hes too busy doing stuff to drool!
  6. I taught him like this Then I changed to being in front of him with that sweeping hand motion in front and the word, Then added in my own bow plus same hand signal and word. Then gradually took away the hand signal but kept the bow and word. In a nutshell. :D
  7. So I make videos for youtube sometimes, and just uploaded a new one of my dog Riddick and I messing around and having some fun. Enjoy :D
  8. I wouldn't expect to pay for it. The toys are not in plastic wrapping, I expect they've been handled by people and even dogs. If you're worried about bringing a toy home to your puppy, I would wash it first. If pets are allowed in store, I would assume its just common sense that the toys, especially those on the bottom aisle have been touched by other dogs. That being said, if my dog was a real drooler and saturated the toy, or damaged it in some way. Then I would expect to pay for it.

  10. Uhm, is it just me, or are there always certain people who like to try and bash K9 Pro every time it comes up? No idea why. Ive ordered a number of things over the last year, every single item has arrived within a few days. One item didn't work properly, I sent it back and had a replacement within a few days. Fantastic customer service (and prices. :D) If you order something or mail something without tracking/insurance, that's your decision. Auspost is getting a lot of complaints recently. I mailed something a few days ago that went astray and luckily I got it back (actually it was returned to my neighbours for some reason). I mailed it again today, WITH tracking this time Learnt my lesson! I can't think of many companies that would just replace an item without question ? Pretty much every place I've ordered from has a added fee for insurance or tracking. Just like if you mail something yourself, you have the choice.

  14. Its possible? It was This style of colouring. Which I would call white and fawn but Im sure I could be wrong. Ive been looking for lost whippet ads but can't seem to find any so I'm hoping he made his way home. Still kicking myself, I was SO close to catching him, had him eating a treat out of my hand with his head through a slip lead, but he spooked at a car and bolted. I had no chance after that
  15. Spotted white and fawn whippet. Black leather sighthound collar with raised silver studs. ran onto killeaton street(busy road!!) Followed it down Bedford ave, almost caught it twice but it Took off into a reserve off Bedford and disappeared into the bush. Walked all over calling but couldn't find it Anyone missing or own a whippet of that description??
