  1. I actually got the harness because i wanted to save his throat from any potential damage while we sorted this problem out. Plus he is easier to control while wearing a harness. I have PMed you regarding the trainer Vickie:Thanks for the advice. Kaiser has met all my friend's dogs and have had no problems with them. He doesnt bark at them when onlead. I'll keep that in mind though Thanks for the help! I really appreciate it!
  2. As in private training sessions?? I am teaching him to walk nicely on lead - i guess its what you'd describe as "loose lead training". I just dont want him to pull me and he is learning that quite well. He just barks and pulls like a maniac when another dog comes along... Thanks Cosmolo
  3. He pulled on his collar too much so i got him a harness.
  4. Stupid males I will try getting his attention with a tennis ball next time. He cant take his eyes off it at home! No never been bitten by another dog. A bit of rough play with a staffy during puppy class but nothing harmful. Inface Kaiser seems to play really well with staffies (Could be my imagination tho! ) Thanks Isaviz
  5. As in stop walking towards park if he is barking. Start walking if silent? Kavik: I always have a bum bag of cut up dog roll with me when out walking etc. He is not a food focused dog. I've tried all sorts of treats he usually doesnt get regularly at home too. He's just really focused on the other dog(s).
  6. Thanks dogmad. I'm just worried that i'm doing something wrong....
  7. Any suggestions?? He jsut barks non stop at other dogs when he is on lead. When we go to Whiteman Park for a Perth DOL meet he will bark and pull like a maniac while on lead on the other side of the fence. Once inside and off lead he is fine, great in fact! I was told that it might be a dominance thing? - If so does this mean he doesnt see me as Alpha?? Or a "Fear Period" thing? Im not too sure if he only does this to males... But we did meet a lovely Akita last night (both on lead). Entire male, 3 years old. Very gentle. I just felt sooo bad coz Kaiser just wouldnt stop barking and pulling on the lead! He did eventually settle, went for a sniff then started to bark again Am i going something wrong?? This is the only problem i've ever had with him. Apart from the barking he is an absolute angel! ETA: He does this at Obedience as well.
  8. I might give bruching a go. Kaiser is a pretty tolerant boy so better to get him used to it earlier... Mya may be problematic Do you have to use those dog ones or can i just use a soft human tooth brush? Like the kids ones? Also do you just bruch or use toothpaste?
  9. Thanks PW. Kaiser is okay as he will chew on toys and i have a few rope toys here as well. He also has the theeth cleaning Kong stick thingo too. The problem is Mya. She doesnt play with toys at all! The only thing she'll chew on are bones or food. I was giving her bones till she hacked up a sharp piece the other day. She brought it up while coughing (has KC at the moment). So it just got me thinking....
  10. http://vetnpetdirect.com.au/product.php?pr...=354&page=1 I came across this while shopping for Revolution ;) Has anyone used it or something similar? I'l trying to find a product the my dog's teeth. I give them bones but i am a little worried about them choking on it. I usually supervise bones but sometimes Mya will bury it without me knowing and i cant find it. She'll usually dig it up when i am not home and chew on it. Which also makes Kaiser bark at her for having a bone Kaiser i could probably brush his teeth without too much fuss but Mya will be more difficult.... So i thought this might be an easier solution. Any thoughts and suggesions would me much appreciated Thanks!!!!
  11. As above. I did a search but couldnt find the specific answer about it. IS it safe for dogs?? I have a 6.5month old GSD pup and a nearly 3 year old GSD x Lab/Retriever. Should i supplement or no? They are fed RC GSD Junior and Labrador adult food. They get their fair share of bones, meat, chicken, eggs and fishy stuff like sardines. I dont think they need it now but would like to take preventative measures where possible. Any thoughts?? Thanks!
  12. Thats not too bad. Thanks sandgrubber!
  13. May i ask how much it is per kilo?
  14. Thanks for that everyone. I live SOR - Spearwood to be precise...I just buy frames, mince etc from the local IGA/Coles at the moment. GSD Lover - I think i know what shop you mean.... I found a place called "South St Pet Supplies" and they seem to do lots of meat products for pets. I'll check them out this week!
  15. Ahh okay. Thanks D+D!! 20 carcasses for $6.00 sounds great! I give my two carcasses/frames for brekkie.
  16. I've googled and searched on the yellowpages.com butcant seem to find anywhere that sells wholesale/bulk meat for dogs.... I'm just after bones, chicken wings, carcasses, good quality meats etc. I'm currently buying chicken frames at about $3.00 to $4.00 per kilo - which gives me 2 frames and lasts me one day feeding two large breed dogs. I'd like to buy bulk and save a little as well. Anywhere around the metro area would be fine. Thanks all!!!!
  17. I have canned in the cupboard too. Just a few cans. I should've checked it out when i went shopping last night! Will do before the weekend. Thanks D+D
  18. How can people let their dogs get to such a horrible state?! Scum!

    Bones

I startrd giving my pup raw chicken wings at 8 weeks. When he got older (12wks plus) i gave him some lamb bones - the rib ones i think they're called brisket bones? I always make sure that I'm there just incase he chokes. No problems so far. He's 6 months old now ;)
  20. Not sure if this will help, but i remember reading about it on my vet's website. First thing that came to mind....Pemphigus foliaceus. http://www.southstvet.com.au/caseofthemonth.php
  21. I give my two: Chicken wings and frames. Not the necks as Kaiser just chews a few times and swallows it whole :D Lamb flaps. REALLY big marrow bones - not cut up but whole about the size of my forearm. They chew on it for days. Lamb Brisket bones. turkey wings if i can get them. I've tried beef chuck bones but i think the bone is too hard for my pup. I also dont want my older girl accidently choking on it.
  22. Mum's beagle LOVES fish. He gets them whole or just the heads... Sometimes just bits off here and there. He'll gobble 'em up and sniff around for more.... Typical beagle behaviour :D
  23. Kaiser's just lost all his puppy teeth. Some permanent ones are set but there are some that are only just cutting through. Will the chuck bones and marrow bones be too hard for him? He likes gnawing on bones....
