The above suggestion for EP might be better prices than Narre Warren / Hallam but for RMB's and minced chicken try Tasman meats in Berwick, they also sell frozen minced frames cheap (large frozen chunks) Crystal Poultry in Cranbourne (Thompson RD) has good prices for chicken. I usually get casserole pieces for $2.50kg and frames are 10kg box for $10(?). The butchers at Parkhill Plaza have minced chicken frames in 1 kg bags, not sure on price.

Any chemist should stock them or contact SWAY she sells them too. http://www.whelpingsupplies.com.au/index.p...at&catId=23

Sorry to hear that you lost the Brown boy, very sad. Can you get some Metomide from the vet? That is supposed to be good to help Millk Supply. We hand rasied our first liter of 12, so know what you will be feeling in a couple of weeks!! We weaned them as early as possibly to take the stress off us. Are you in Australia? I used Metomide with my Rottie bitch - her last litter was 6 days premature (em C section) it took 10 days for her milk to come through and I really believe had it not been for the metomide tabs and Fenugreek powder she may not have had any milk at all. She weaned them herself at 10 weeks old. She had heaps of milk within 24 hrs of taking the tabs. Good luck.

I wash heaps of dog towels being a groomer and usually omo on warm wash (normal setting) with Bi Carb soda and every now and then I do a small wash with Bi Carb (generous amount) to wash the machine out. My machine is almost 20 yrs old now so it hasn't hurt it. Sometimes I will add a few drops of lavender to make them smell nice.

It's not just the breed standards, it's in the regulations for the canine controls. From the DogsACT Regs: 7.8 Dogs Improperly Prepared. A dog is considered to be improperly prepared if: 1. The natural colour or shade of natural colour or the natural markings of the dog have been altered or changed by the use of any substance whatsoever; 2. Any substance, preparation, powder or fluid used for cleaning has been applied to and remains on the dog during exhibition to such an extent as to deceive or be likely to deceive a judge whether it was applied with intent to deceive or not; 3. Any cutting, piercing, breaking by force, or any kind of operation or act which destroys the tissues of the ears or alters their natural formation or carriage, or shortens the tail or alters the carriage of the tail, has been practiced, provided however, that shortening the tail shall be allowable in the case of breeds accepted by. 4. At no time may a Non Registrable Docked Dog be exhibited or shown at an exhibition or show. I have a little saying - "The fairy Godmother doesn't have a magic wand - you have to find the Vet who does". Don't waste your money putting it in writing because you will be out of pocket. Would be interesting if they brought in drug testing like they do with greyhounds - how many dogs would be withdrawn? Some cheating is far more obvious than others and what is more surprising are the ones who are doing it....

Most people really know the truth anyway. eta: if you have proof you could tell the judge on the day and hope they deal with it. If you decide to put it in writing later on you will only be out of pocket and they will lie to get out of it..

You can order it directly through Liberty, free pick up if your close enough. http://www.libertyinternational.com.au/tables.html - call for prices. I have a large Liberty table and love it. Also have another table from someone else with adjustable height, both great tables.

If I want one due date then it is one mating only - if they miss then so be it. Other wise 2 or 3 matings are more than enough.

With 3 Rottweilers (and 1 pug) I just don't want to know what they cost either.

How To Train A Dog To "back Up"?
Andisa replied to haylz27's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
This might help. -
Beautiful pic - but how do you know which pup belongs to which mum?

Try Ox Cheek - it worked for Hamish (entire male Rottweiler) he had always been a fussy eater, left home at 5 months old and was fed RC, he was returned at 15/16mths and put back on a raw diet. Was a shitty few months getting him to eat properly but well worth it. I have been raw feeding for several years now - even before he left he was not eating as well as the others. After trying just about everything you can imagine - I was told to give him ox cheek and it worked straight away. Don't know why I didn't give it to him because I usually have it in the freezer. At 20 months old he is still a slow eater but he eats very well, I feed him Barf and lamb bones every day, he takes his time with food but he eats it. He is not keen on chicken and I don't like giving him chicken if he won't eat it quickly - but lamb is ok to leave, especially in this weather. His mother and sister are pigs with food - it's gone so fast I doubt they would even taste it. What is normal for them is not normal for him. Good luck getting your Dobe to eat properly - it is frustrating..

Sorry to read that your bitch is going through this - my Rottie bitch had mastitis with her 1st litter. It was bloody awful. We did all we could to prevent it getting worse but it gets to a point of no return so to speak and needs to be drained - or will burst. She had surgery to clean it up. I weaned the pups from her, put them on a bottle and dried the mum up and she bounced back really well. I was very concerned about it happening when she was mated the 2nd time - with only 3 pups raised she showed no signs of it again. It will look worse before it gets better, good luck and I hope your girl is better soon.

That is soooo true. One of the best - most loyal dogs that I grew up with was a Dobermann - that bitch understood every word we said - it was like having a full conversation with her. We were on a farm - she came with the property and always had full run of it - she was never chained or locked away so we kept the routine as it was for her. Her big sin was Digging in the garden. My mother has always been a gardener - rain hail or shine she was head down bum up somewhere. We would stand at the back door and yell out "Mum - where are you" and wait for the direction of "over here" then go look for her. Even the Cockatoo knew the routine and he would scream out "Mum where are you - where are you Mum" and screech when he heard the back door open. When ever she found a hole that Cindy had dug she would yell out "Cindy - where are you - come here" she would slink her way over to mum then the last few steps would be an army crawl on her belly - she knew she was sprung. You had to see them to really see the game that was always played out. As you can imagine a Dobermann size hole in a garden is not something that can be over seen and missed so she would be sprung on every time she made her "craters". Mum would say to her - "What is this" she would nudge her way in closer, then the usual well get here - that dog would turn around and wait for a tap on the bum and then she would rub up against mum for cuddles. Then one night it happened - she was on possum patrol and was killed on the road by a speeding motorist. Yes she was on the road but after all these years she never went off the property for some reason this night she did and she was killed. There was not a dry eye in the house for weeks later - Dad dug her hole near one of her favorite places and she was buried that night. Weeks later mum would still be finding holes that Cindy had dug - she would come inside with tears in her eyes saying she would give anything to have her back again - the little games they played when ever a hole was discovered were just between Mum and Cindy. Funny thing is - mum mother is not an animal person, she was born and raised on a farm but has no real closeness with animals - but Cindy was special to everyone. Her greeting were something special too - she smiled, imagine a Dobermann smiling at you when you pull up the driveway - big grin and all one side of her teeth were exposed. Then she would cock her leg and pee on their tiers. She was a "one in a life time dog" everyone who knew her - loved her.

So very sorry Cockerlover - it is never easy letting them go. Rip little puppy.

I picked up a large bag of rabbit skins from an op shop 2 weeks ago. Looks like someone was making a throw - was almost the size of a single bed. Was a nice bargain at only $15. You could also buy a fur coat from the op shop and cut it up.
-
Stef - how did you go at the vets today?
-
Congratulations GayleK - your new puppy is beautiful. Thank you - Thank you - Thank you.
-
No advice Cockerlover - just wanted to wish you luck.

its a few days. lort smith because i dont like my local vet and i have always gone to lort smith because my mother got her dog from there also any money there goes towards helping other animals in need Isnt an accident litter contributing to 'animals in need??' (sorry couldnt resist.) :D Yep - I also thought the same thing and the Lort Smith is also cheaper than most vets. Years ago my OH asked me to call them about spaying a stray cat we took in, the cost was heaps cheaper than we were quoted locally but the distance didn't make it worth while. Nothing wrong with hunting around for cheaper service but if that is adding on extra vital days what is the point. AND if the cost is an issue now - just wait until the pups come along as already mentioned...... I still can't get my head around anyone allowing such a young large breed bitch to have a litter....she is still a baby herself. Stef - have you even thought about what would happen if she is too young to cope with motherhood and rejects the litter. Some will be great mums while others will kill or just refuse to accept them..what then? I am really hoping that she isn't even in whelp and just having a beauty of a phantom.
-
Stef - please correct me if I am wrong - but isn't your bitch only about 14 months or so old? (I might be thinking of someone else but feel she is still very young) If so - I would not be allowing her to have this litter she is far too young for a large breed bitch. I would be thinking of her welfare before that of unplanned and unprepared litter of pups. Personally I don't like the idea of spaying while in season or whelp but I if this was my bitch she would have been up at the vets the first sign of possibly being in whelp - and dealt with.
-
Will do - it's not worth it... eta: I am not anti crossbreeds - have owned more than my share, many friends have them and being a groomer most are crosses.
-
NO - just want to point out to those who have forgotten where they are.
