Hitting The Ring For The First Time
Havasneeze replied to angelsophie's topic in General Dog Discussion
Why when what is elsewhere has been dragged here for the sympathy vote. Hurts a bit when the shoe is on the other foot doesn't it. :p :p :D -
I would be surprised if they put a stamp on it for you.... As I said, if you want your entries returned by mail BEFORE the show, put a stamp on it. If you want to pick it up on the day of the show, don't put a stamp on it
-
Yes, you need to put a stamp on your return envelopes so they can post your numbers to you before the show unless you would prefer to pick them up on the day

Well all I can say is, if the "beloved" dog meant that much to her, why didn't she have the dog secured knowing that there would be fireworks and would, of course, get scared and run away?
-
Congratulations and WOW. My head would be spinning running round all those rings Couldn't do that in Sydney, I'd be clashing all over the place. I have enough trouble showing a Schipperke and a Havanese and still manage to clash from time to time.

I like the double points for large shows as there is a pretty good chance that there will be more than 1 dog in each class for each breed with the youngsters. Well done Troy!!!!

Those results are correct Mandalay. Non-Sporting BIG was Joe Daidone's French Bulldog and RUBIG Kirin's Dally

WTG Gail & Magic but WHERE'S THE PICS -
I have been entered in a couple of Speciality shows with critiques and each was very carefully worded. They went something like this ~ Critiques will be done for the first 3 places in each class. If you would like to have your entry critiqued, please stay in the ring after your class has been judged. I also agree that "Critiqueing is an art and can turn into a back stabbing bitch fight" but I have generally found that most judges are mindful that what is said can come back and bite you. I have also seen a Judge seem to use the old adage "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all" On reading the critiques after one show, I know that a particular dog, that was placed 3rd in its class, stayed in the ring for a critique to be done. When this was published the critique for that particular dog was blank. Would you consider that to be rude or polite?

In the Afghans I really like Louise Hickey's boy Gr Ch Gengala Super Trooper. I could watch him go round all day My favourite Schipperke would have to be Gr Ch Bateau Chien Secret Agent (AI) but I also like Gr Ch Bateau Chien Simon Sez (AI). Gr Ch Sanlyn American Idol (Imp NZ) also looks like a lovely dog in the pictures that I have seen but have not had the pleasure of seeing him in the flesh yet. My favourite Havanese is Australia's youngest ever Havanese Grand Champion, Hashki Lord ov the Realm. This little dog made me fall in love with the breed. He has stunning movement and is a real character.

IMO it's the only way to let the Judge know that you are NOT happy with their Judging, besides giving them a gobful. A far more polite way of doing it!!!

When A Judge Does Not Examine Your Exhibit
Havasneeze replied to Jumabaar's topic in General Dog Discussion
My Schipp actually had no problem with getting her mouth checked until she was handled roughly. The Judge was also taken aback at her reaction and didn't seem to even comprehend what she had done. -
Numbers usually arrive on the Monday or Tuesday of the week of a Show. Don't panic!!!

When A Judge Does Not Examine Your Exhibit
Havasneeze replied to Jumabaar's topic in General Dog Discussion
I agree with that and speaking from experience, I actually prefer it when they say it's not worth looking at the mouth. I have a Schipperke bitch that is 8 months old and she had a bad experience in baby class with a Judge who "attacked" her mouth. She nearly jumped off the table as the handling was so harsh. It then took me 3 months of patiently explaining to Judges that my puppy does NOT have a temperament problem but had a Judge who was rough with her mouth. I was lucky that they were ALL prepared to spend time calming her down and being very gentle with her, to the point that now you wouldn't even know she had had a problem. -

Poty Nsw - Anyone There? Are There Results Yet?

This is a copy of my post from the Havanese thread earlier today. When I went and watched Show Dog of Year about 3 years ago I didn't really pay much attention to the younger ones but I'm guessing that they use the same system as the older dogs. It goes something like this.... In NSW you must have been awarded baby, minor or puppy in group for the period 1/1/09 to 31/12/09 and be over 6 months and under 18 months of age as at the 23rd January, 2010. There are 6 mystery Judges. 3 from NSW and 3 from Interstate. The dogs names are put into a hat, so to speak, drawn out and placed into groups. The judges are also split into groups and go over each dog within their group and give them votes as to which one they prefer within that group. Depending on how many votes a dog receives, decides whether you progress to the next round. This format is continued until there are 4 dogs remaining. Then all 6 Judges vote on which dog they prefer and the dogs are then placed 1-4. -

I was going to go out and have a look as well as set up for tomorrow but my father had a fall on Thursday and hurt his back (again) so I've had to spend some time making sure he's OK. It also took me an hour and a half to wash the puppies, so I just ran out of time....
