  1. I started training my dogs at Kintala club when I was 15. Our club was shunned by other clubs because we used food. I remember beating an instructors dog in an obedience comp, and I went up to her and told her I said "I beat you", can't believe I said that. LOL ) I had a German Shepherd, never realised how smart she was. I was once practicing stays, and finished them but forget to tell the dog and walked off. Was 200m away and she was still in her stay. Another time we lost a ferret, and I said to the dog to "find the ferret" and she did. She had never done any tracking or find it games, she just knew. She picked up auto sits in fast pace without having to ever really train she just did it. Before I got Tia I never considered herding.
  2. Here is Moses backing up onto a chair. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FSO-B__hNAw
  3. You were stuffed!!!! At least you weren't the start human in the human flyball who kept doing false starts. I am so sore today, trying to find the muscle that doesn't hurt. But I had lots of fun and would do it again. Hope nobody took any shots of me with my t-shirt made into a tank top.
  4. LilBailey owner looks a bit "pissed" in the photo. LOL :D) What had she been drinking.
  5. I dont think either judge thought I would be able to stop my 2 (one told the property owner (who is also our herding instructor) that she thought he might have to go in there & crash tackle them to the ground :D ) but was very impressed when I did Did you crash tackle your dogs to the ground??? LOL
  6. My soreness is just coming in now, I am walking around like I just got off a horse. The guy is the Hastings team is David he is very competitive and told me off in the human race, for not single striding every jump. Actually when he ran he only beat me by .1 of a second, and I am 10 years older him. I recon tomorrow my full soreness will come out. Nice to be sore from having fun, then from working. LOL :D)
  7. I taught Moses the Susan Garret 2 x 2 method it is also in her book, about Buzz. It is great for clicker savvy and toy motivated dogs. Got Moses running through the weaves in 4 weeks. But was practicing every day and gradually working through the steps. You start off with two weaves, and you work all your entries. Here is a clip of Moses weaving.\ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AfNduEBWaYk You will notice that a ball suddenly appears at the end of the weavers that is what he is working for.
  8. We had a fantastic time. Loved the human flyball, was a great work out!!!! I hear some people took some fantastic shots. I run faster than my dog. LOL ))
  9. Congrats!!! I think a big brag, what about the control you need and getting the dog to stop herding the sheep. That is a big ask!!! Congrats, I do mine soon.
  10. The only thing I would pick on is the person doing the video, tell them to use the zoom function. LOL ) Leo is looking great.

  16. Have been watching some youtube of herding instinct tests. One of them had the judge standing in the middle of the ring. Just curious where does the judge stand? The ones I was watching were probably taken outside of Australia. Was also wondering wouldn't it confuse the sheep. Here is Tia's latest efforts. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJePEGnqMe4 Anybody going to this? Anyone to keep me company. LOL )
  17. Here is a video taken of Tia at the workshop, first time she has worked in a big paddock moving sheep. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJePEGnqMe4
  18. Here is Tia herding at the workshop at Diggers Rest, first time she has worked in a big paddock moving sheep. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dJePEGnqMe4
  19. Last night I noticed his collar hanging off him. I usually allow 3 fingers to put inside the collar, I recon I could have got a whole fist. Other then the weight loss he is very energetic as usual. They didn't do any tests on the lump they removed, it was an abscess due to a grass seed. The only other thing I can think of is as I don't train him as much as I used to he doesn't get as many treats. But I don't really think so.
  20. He gets fed advance dried food, and a mixture of pasta, rice and beef. At night he gets another feed of dried food. I know of a Husky that has a thyroid condition and it actually is way over weight and lethargic. Moses still has plenty of energy.
  21. Moses is going okay. He is back to normal but am very concerned about his weight. He has lost heaps and is very thin, will get him weighed tomorrow, but last time it was 17.5kg. He lost 200g when he was cooped up without exercise.
  22. Just a quick question, I am taking Tia herding this weekend down at Drouin, (Drouin is closer to get to and no e tags) with her two brothers. How do siblings compare with herding?? Will they be similar? I am taking my video camera, really interested to see how her brothers go. The owners are quite excited as they have seen Tia working, and their other borders from different lines were major wool classers.
  23. What about people who say you cannot train tracking and herding at the same time? Or you cannot teach certain tricks because the dog will get confused during obedience etc. Have busted the trick myth with Moses. Or you can train agility and (insert dog sport) because it will confuse them. Also the myth that the dog has to have a different collar because it won't know what dog sport it is doing. When Josh and Moses see flyball jumps they know they are doing flyball, same for agility etc.
