Does anyone know of a holistic Vet in Cairns or around that area? Thank you
-
Thanks stormie! Ahh so confused... I didn't know there were different types of titre tests. My dog normally gets C5 vaccinations, so will that tell us what sort of titre test he needs? I was told by somebody that the titre tests should be for distemper and parvo, and that he will probably need a kennel cough booster every year. I just assumed that was the norm for everybody.

Well I found a vet that will do it, and it will cost $200. Is that the normal cost?

I made hubby touch it, I didn't want to see it Would you say roo tails have a high ratio of bone to meat though? It looked like it.

Thanks. That's a bit of a worry though if they wouldn't cover it even if the titre test showed the dog has immunity I can understand why that might be their policy though.

Thanks everyone, it went fine. I didn't get to freeze it in the end because it had already been frozen and defrosted. He ate it in about 15 mins and chewed it pretty daintily. I was a bit worried at the end with the last bit, but he didn't try to scoff it or anything.

I should probably wait to hear back from the pet insurance place before I start contacting vets, shouldn't I?

I don't really get to Brisbane, but I'm going to Cairns for a couple of days, does anyone know of any in Cairns? I'll contact the pet insurance company direct, thanks for that info

Great, thanks. I'll do a search

I'm in Qld

Thanks guys. I think I will freeze it to hopefully make him eat it slower. I probably worry too much, but I'm always wary when giving him new food.

Thanks JackieW I will check out the website.

My dog doesn't like his spot on either, and he's reluctant to come to me when he sees it. I wish I could stop putting it on him, but where I live unfortunately stopping it isn't an option. I think it depends where you live and what the risks are. Maybe you can talk to your vet about alternative options.

Thanks guys  So there are vertebrae in them? Should I be worried he might seperate them and choke on one??? He's a Lab sized dog that thinks it's a race to eat his dinner. He normally has chicken frames and large chicken wings with no problems, but will swallow necks whole so he doesn't get those anymore. I thought a roo tail would be nice and big for him, but if the vertebrae come apart into chunks of bone, then maybe it wouldn't be good for him? Thanks for any advice

How would I find a vet that will do titre testing instead of vaccinations each year? I have rung around vets in my area and they don't do them  Is there a list of vets that do them, or something? And for people that titre test instead of vaccinating each year, have you ever had problems with your pet insurance companies accepting it? Thanks

Is a roo tail something that a dog can eat as part of their dinner, and will eat it quickly (eg like a chicken frame)? Or is it more of a food they will work on for a few days? Will they eat the bone as well, or just the meat? Thanks

Mine only has that problem after fish. Could it be the sardines?

Problem solved! Thanks

Would 1 sheet of (stolen ) raw puff pastry block a dog's system up? How long before constipation becomes serious? I will give him some mashed pumpkin. Is there anything else I should give him? Thank you for any advice.

Thanks, I'll pass the info on

Thanks everyone, I'll pass the info on to her. What are growl classes?

A friend recently rescued an approx. 4 year old mixed breed (we think there is maybe some GR in there) dog. She's fine with people, but when she sees another dog she lunges and barks at it. We think she's had no socialisation with other dogs. Would suggesting she take her to obedience lessons help? Can older dogs learn to be ok around other dogs if they've had no socialisation before? I'm not sure what else to suggest? Does anyone have any other ideas? Thanks

Welcome back Luke!!!!

My dog gets a rash if he walks on wet grass. There are certain types that are more known for it than others, but I can't remember the names.
