None of the dogs are being sold by Pacers or Vic.
-
We went after the best price and contacted half dozen to be sure we could get it done for the best price in the time frame. Couldnt do any better than we have.
-
Thats a major part of the issue - but there are complications which are private and the removalist is there right now and the car movers any time now.
-
A car or two cant be sold to help with some funding and why is not something that is able to be made public. Right now nothing can be sold to help with some funding as there are legal issues involved and by the time things can be sold it will be too late. fair enough, just thought selling a car could ease the pressure on people. It sure would but Id also like to add the biggest issue was and still is the time frame we have to work on. Even if it were possible to sell one of the cars we could only buy a week's reprieve and we really had to flex some muscles, get a legal person involved and do some fancy side stepping to have the week to try to get the stuff out - or there wouldn't be any cars to sell.

Thanks guys - but we have hit a bit of a snag and still running it very close to a deadline before all is lost. One of the quotes we had has been considerably increased right in the middle of the job so we really are quite desperate now for some more help with donations to be able to have a hope of covering this.

Fantastic work Julie and Jaxx's Buddy!!!! So shall I assume thsi means all the transport for the dogs is sorted out and you don't need me to collect any from Liberty Dog Rescue? Sorry Snook - That right its all sorted. I got so many offers for help and I was running so Im only just now trying to tie in user names with real names etc to let you all know where we are up to personally. Thanks Westiemum - had you in holding pattern in case we couldnt do what we were aiming for but we have a place now to store all of the cars at one place which will hopefully make it easier when the time comes for them to be returned. We havent been able to gather anywhere near the funds we have needed to do what we have done and still have to do and we have some heavy stuff to deal with today and tomorrow so its still pretty full on but many thanks for your help if anything goes wrong and I need you I will give a yell. We still have a bit of a major issue with an entire male dog which needs short term foster care in the Adelaide area as he cant stay where he is. So if anyone is up for taking him for a couple of weeks its currently the only thing we havent been able to find an answer to. We could place him out of state but that is our last option as we will just get him there and he will need to come back.

http://www.themercury.com.au/article/2011/...mania-news.html AN animal-loving former policeman is RSPCA Tasmania's latest weapon in the fight against animal cruelty. With the help of prosecutions officer Glenn Carey, the RSPCA hopes to have more animal welfare offenders punished by the courts. The former sergeant and police prosecutor retired from Tasmania Police in March after 38 years in the force. Mr Carey said he jumped at the chance to become the RSPCA's first dedicated prosecutor. "I've got three dogs at the moment, I've always had animals, including horses and cats," he said. "It's a privilege to own an animal, not a right, and the general public believes that people who abuse that privilege should be taken before the courts and made accountable." Based at the RSPCA's Launceston animal care centre, Mr Carey will be responsible for bringing animal abusers and neglecters to justice statewide. "The RSPCA has a pro-prosecution policy, so if the evidence is there they will be prosecuted," he said. "I think it will complement the great work the inspectorate are doing right across the state. "That is the reason this position was created. The RSPCA is looking forward to perhaps better outcomes in court." RSPCA Tasmania acting chief executive officer Michael Linke said Mr Carey's appointment was a first for the state. It also follows calls from animal welfare groups for tougher penalties after a number of high-profile animal cruelty cases in Tasmania resulted in offenders being punished with minimal fines. Mr Linke said smaller jurisdictions such as Tasmania, the ACT and the Northern Territory had traditionally relied on police or public prosecutors to see animal welfare cases through court. "Over the past three or four years the board and the staff have seen an increasing need for the RSPCA to manage cases ourselves," he said. "This appointment will add a further string to our bow in pursuing animal cruelty offenders." Mr Linke said RSPCA Tasmania had nine animal welfare inspectors managing 3500 to 4000 investigations a year. He said Mr Carey would help the RSPCA build up a more comprehensive catalogue of prosecutions and penalties for animal cruelty, providing the organisation with more ammunition to argue for tougher penalties for people found guilty of animal cruelty. "It will give us more robust arguments to take to the Government if we want to facilitate change to the legislation," he said.

http://www.theage.com.au/victoria/pound-ki...0430-1e29v.html A LOST Dogs Home plan to take over the running of more council pounds has alarmed animal welfare groups, who say the strategy will lead to more dogs and cats being killed. The home has won three council contracts from rival RSPCA Victoria and has plans to take over more pounds as well as expand interstate. The home has won contracts with Casey, Hobsons Bay and Echuca councils by tender from the RSPCA over the past two years and now runs 17 council pounds in Victoria. Advertisement: Story continues below But animal welfare groups have criticised the home's growth strategy because of its high kill rate of impounded animals. Activist Mike Bailey, who runs the Stop the Clock campaign aimed at preventing impounded dogs and cats from being routinely killed after 28 days, asked why the Lost Dogs Home was bidding for more council contracts when it knew it could not find homes for the thousands of animals it already had. The home killed 85.8 per cent (10,352) of the 12072 cats and 26.2 per cent (3242) of the 12,354 dogs it received at its main shelters at North Melbourne and Cranbourne in 2009-10. RSPCA Victoria, which still runs 17 council pounds, had a much lower kill rate, putting down 56.4 per cent (9086) of the 16,111 cats it received and 18.6 per cent (3297) of the 17,733 dogs it received in 2009-10. RSPCA Victoria's chief executive, Maria Mercurio, admitted the organisation was losing contracts to the home. She said her organisation accepted that its bids to run council pounds may not have been cheap enough but the group's aim was to save animals. ''We are committed to … implementing preventative measures to reduce the number of animals ultimately coming into shelters, and these programs are not reliant on being awarded pound contracts,'' she said. City of Casey spokesman Chris Ryan said tenders were called for all contracts valued at more than $150,000. The Lost Dogs Home was awarded the council's pound contract, held by the RSPCA for the past 15 years, in December and will begin services on June 1. The Lost Dogs Home's Graeme Smith said the organisation did not receive any government funding, unlike the RSPCA. ''Tenders are judged on many factors. These include financial, ability to deliver, customer service, management, quality, etc,'' Mr Smith said. ''In other words, they are awarded on the basis of performance.'' Mr Smith said he welcomed plans announced by the Baillieu government to remove the 28-day time limit for keeping animals in shelters before they had to be put down. ''It will allow us to do more for the dogs that have behavioural problems,'' he said. ''These changes … will see a further reduction in our euthanasia rate for dogs.'' Councils that do not run in-house animal pounds agree to pay a set fee to a shelter for the cost of caring for each animal brought in. By law, animals must be kept for eight days to give the shelter time to find the owner. Any expenses after eight days, when the animal may be placed into adoption or rehabilitation, are incurred by the shelter. This includes desexing, microchipping, food and medical costs. Ms Mercurio said a big challenge for animal welfare groups was the state's soaring cat population. Read more: http://www.theage.com.au/victoria/pound-ki...l#ixzz1L8Hk8G60

Ill do up a refill for you - just tell me what you need

So..... What does NT law say? Is it specific in stating that you cant have more than two dogs without a permit? This crap about it all being taken on a case by case basis is something that is everywhere and wide open to corruption. Who do you have to take out to lunch or sleep with?
-
You can actually attach it to a strong collar
-
One of the quickest and cheapest and most effective is to put a yoke on it made from two pieces of poly pipe. Hang on Ive got a photo of it somewhere Ill go looking. The yoke hangs around their neck almost down to the ground so they cant climb with it on. Very harmless but effective. Takes a couple of weeks and then when the yoke comes off they dont try again.

Alright we're right - All covered - Removalist will have everything sorted by Monday, cars will be outta there on the week end. We have one male entire dog to find a spot for medium to long term Foster care. He has been to the beauty parlour and is all fluffed a brushed and is pretty easy to get on with. We have a few things more we have to help Vic with on the legal side and get some things put in place but that should be all right within a very short period too. To everyone who has helped especially Jaxxbuddy who has really been in there stamping her feet with her sleeves rolled up and growling, begging pleading and negotiating etc and everyone who has offered and donated and supported us this has been a huge undertaking in desperate conditions . Thank you To those who were able to collect and help us sort out the dogs - brilliant. Thank you. We will still need to do some serious fundraising to cover the outlay for all of this so bear with us.
-
Thank you - I will keep this info and give you a yell if we need you - there are some complications. Will know more later today.

;) Just adding my gratitude to Julie, Jaxx and the whole team of helpers And for Julie & Jaxx.....much deserved...... ;) fifi seconded heartily! Actually you have not done so bad yourself. You went way way out of your way and took hours out of your life to pick up a dog trailer and organise someplace to stay in Adelaide etc Even though at the end of the day we didnt need you the fact that you did what you did and were primed ready to drive through the night to get there before we lost the dogs is awesome and you should very much feel appreciated because you are Thank you Im sorry we mucked you around. Julie

O.K. All dogs with the exception of one male are done and dusted with the help of Shar Pei Rescue P/L and Liberty Rescue as well as half a dozen or so working behind the scenes. We still require a medium to long term foster carer in the Adelaide area to foster one male entire dog - described as dominant. All expenses will be covered. We will know more about what else we need and when later this afternoon. As soon as we sort it through I will come back. Donations to cover Vic's expenses so far are $920 - Thank you. Auctions are starting now.

You wil need to give us about 24 hours before we can be sure of a couple of things we need to put in place. Right now we have ONE bitch we need to find a foster home for with in the next 2 days and that is all that's really pressing at this time for the dogs all the rest are at least temporarily sorted. The rest - the stuff we need to help the human is a bit more complicated and we need to organise and check and orchestrate it all a bit more before I can tie it up.

Can you get a message through to Heather for me and ask her to give me a quick call ? Dont know why but I can never get her on her phone.
