  1. Hmm Lexi got a blockage from eating an orange palm berry at it cost me $1800 but luckily I had a dog at the end of it. I know you don't want to but you really need to discuss it with the owners, or get your dad to
  2. I have potted trees that have blown over and flooding in the back room again - thankfully it is not as bad as last time.
  3. It is blowing a gale in Southern River and blow me down.......its raining
  4. I show my kids, to fill in time before they mature and hit the obedience ring. I have the opposite problem to you in that my kids default is a sit, so as soon as I come to a halt in the show ring - they plant their backsides on the ground. As you have already found when you stop - your fella will take a step forward and stand. My kids also struggle with the show examination. As Fuzzey82 suggested its probably best to retrain your stand using another cue, but I would expect you to have a much better stand for exam than most obedience trained dogs as the obedience SFE is not so imposing as the show one. I also found that with my show kids fast pace in obedience - they gaited beautifully whereas my kids that I didn't show tended to gallop in fast pace.
  5. When Bedazzled and I go away - we sometimes (OK often) sit and have a drink after dinner and Scoota will start bringing me things - usually out of Bedazzled's suitcase I take the article and reward both him and Brooklyn and you see the look on his face - ok I will go and get something else and so when have named the resulting pile of stuff Mount Scoota. Brooklyn usually has no idea what is happening but he just sticks close to his mate and happily takes the rewards
  6. I can see people have kittens over the fact that 1. he countersurfed 2. he took something but not us - woo Hooooooooo
  7. Yep the reusable wipes is what I ended up getting and I am really happy with them I am yet to find the perfect container to put them in though, and not looking forward to having to pack a set or two in the suitcase to Sydney. I will have no room for clothes! Now a really important question for all those handypeople. What am I doing wrong. I drill a hole in the wall and when I try and put a wall plug in - it only seems to go half way no matter how much banging I do. Please help....... signed slightly frustrated
  8. I bought her for a good cause No really, I did There was an auction run by the Arabian Horse Society to raise funds for the Qld Flood victims. Mainly stallion services and gear but a few people had donated horses as well to auction off. I had been looking for a purebred arabian filly for a while but was looking for a yearling and preferably a bay... Fast forward and this little girl was donated to the auction by a breeder in WA. She is a 2yo Straight Egyption filly - and grey. But 2 days before the auction ended noone had bid on her. And, well, it was for a good cause Her breeder drove 3 hours to drop her off for me - and then had to drive another 3 hours home! And all they got in return was a cup of tea and some Anzac biscuits! Well I am convinced it was all for a good cause and she is so pretty which is the icing on the cake What did you end up calling her?
  9. sounds very similar P. Did SH just keep following the SC method or did she do something different? I've been doing SC with Mack Her timing with the rewards was much better than mine and thats all it took to get him on the right track again
  10. I confess to 3 trips to Bunnings today - but they weren't all my fault I am now the proud owner of some more wash cloths for UDX containers for the above wash clothes a replacement sprinkler for the one I ran over with the ride on. Came home to fix the sprinkler and my son had had a clean up and I couldn't find the little duvalackey to get the broken bit out of the retic pipe - so after a call to Adelaide to the son and 40 minutes looking for it - it was back to Bunnings to buy another one. And then this arvo - I decided to put the blind up in the daughters bedroom and in the end needed to go back to Bunnings to buy a hammer drill - so now the blind is up, daughter is happy and I can't wait for Bunnings to be just down the road.
  11. I had problems with Struass holding - he would happily run around with a toy in his mouth but would drop it like a hot potato if I went anywhere near him. Throwing something for him he would run out to it and may or may not have picked it up. I decided to give Shirley's method a go and we got to the point where I could hold the BD and he would put his mouth on it, or touch it with his mouth/teeth and I would C/T but there we stalled. I kept trying for a few weeks but felt nothing I did helped me move forward (sounds a similar point at where you are at Seita). So I went to see Sue H and asked for help. She sat in a chair with a truck load of treats and in less than 2 minutes had him taking the db and holding it. So in 2 minutes she had achieved what I hadn't in weeks. From then on ever time I brought the db out he would get so excited and I never had any problems with him bringing me and holding things again. In fact his latest love is books, encyclopedias, dictionaries, you name it, if you leave it laying around he will find it and bring it to me - not always with the cover intact!!!
  12. OH what a feeling...... well done Zig and TSD
  13. There is a god Yesterday I drove to the local supermarket (which is 3km away) and on the corner opposite are signs saying "Bunnings Warehouse coming soon" All my prayers have been answered
  14. Bugger kathq - so near and yet so far. Do you think it had anything to do with your signal???
  15. Shelties would have to be the most common small dog trialling in WA. Your medium dogs would be your tollers and BC's.
  16. OMG I want drops like these - something for us all to aspire to Thanks Caffy for the clip
  17. Maybe I should put together a package deal - airfares, stay at my place (bed and breakfast) and arrange a weekend with Sue with a tour of K9 and a training session with the red kids as an added extra Now there a thought.......
  18. They don't close until after meetings and Southern River training finishes. So they remain open after the office closes at 5pm.
  19. Yes Jules P she will be there just for that weekend
  20. Sam who is organising this seminar is a very experienced trialling person, she is currently competing with her Aussie Shepherd and has her open title and is about to hit the UD ring. She has been around for a long time, and her and her husband have done a lot for the sport
  21. Unfortunately she lost Spinner last year but she has tollers and Aussies and yes inspirational is a great way to describe what she does. Yep rubbing it in Tassie - but she was a great help on Monday when Moos UDX work again went haywire - can't thank her enough. Rubystar I will get together with bedazzled and organise a seminar soon have just been a little busy of late.
  22. Usually your automatic sits disappear because you cue them differently to what you do in training. Talk about being busy last night - yep i can relate to that. and The job interview is done and dusted - I emailed a friend and asked is 9am too early for my first cider Off for coffee with my workmates shortly
