  1. I have created a rear end awareness monster When I show him and try and stand in front of him - he takes this as a cue to swing his bum end around into heel position so we spend the entire time in the ring swinging in circles - I step in front and he swings his back end around. I step in front and..... But his left about turns are BEAUTIFUL
  2. Hi Kylie - was it you I was chatting to at a show recently?? Welcome
  3. Interesting that you couldn't get the puppy into quarantine in Perth. I was there today and there were lots of spare kennels. Is it worth ringing them again just to double check you can't??
  4. You will be going to bed before me at this rate
  5. Followed by a red wine chaser Bedazzled be warned I woke up this morning to fine the strap on my crocs destroyed. I thought by 8 1/2 months of age they should have finished the chewing stage - it seems not though. Think its funny to see the times on your postes 7.10am - unheardof
  6. We will be able to compare teeth marks and you too will come to training with no straps on your crocs
  7. Just ask Cathy about Alex doing this in stays
  8. I still think you should have called him Barry - I can just see it at presentations judges trying to say Binnaburra Barry Looking forward to meeting the little fella
  9. Bedazzled has some exciting news and a few sleepness nights ahead of her
  10. I love the play bow rev up befor he barks Not sure I would be game enough to shape one of my kids to bark
  11. Its a work in progress........ *** This is not part of an evil plan in preparation to send her interstate on a one way ticket *****
  12. Goodnews about TollerBC Andrea at Fionavar had water lapping at their verandah's when she emailed this morning - have not heard from her since 8.30am our time.
  13. Come on - He was the happiest I have ever seen him and you managed to do a bit before the other dogs arrived.
  14. First Day back at training - and just when you think the UDX message is sinking in - you do the first exercise and realise you are totally wrong and it is all down hill from there so you get dog # 2 out and plan to do UD - she fails the seekback, directed jumping and scent, in fact she has no idea what day it is - so you put her away and get out dog # 3 - who is the blonde one who you expect nothing from and who hasn't seen a UD exercise in months and she does a really good job and puts a smile back on your face - Goodonya Beans Think I should have stayed home
  15. Your box story Rubystar - reminded me that all my kids dip their heads as they enter the box - think I must have consistently clicked at the wrong time for each of them
  16. Me and Toby will be there A warning for anybody going to K9 - the scrub next to the sheds has been cleared and council guys were gobsmacked at the number of BIG snakes so be very aware
  17. I have rung K9 and there is an ACWA Meeting tonight at 7.30 - so K9 will be open for training
  18. Which is usually me :D But today I went out to see what would happen and was pleasantly surprised. I think Strauss needs more of this - in fact all of my boys need more of this
  19. I attended an agility seminar today (sat next to Caffy and Bedazzled) and came home enthused I have never done very much shaping with my kids - so this afternoon - with a very small box, a clicker and a truck load of food I took each of the kids outside to see what would happen. The results were very interesting. I started with Strauss - he isn't very forthcoming in offering behaviours and he tends to just sit there waiting for me to do or say something. After a few minutes I had him initially trying to pick the box up and this turned into pushing the box around the verandah. Chevy, Dekka and Scoota had absolutely no idea. Chevy would keep dropping and sitting and fast as he could and it was a case of "what box". Dekka sat there crying in increasing volume and Scoota went through his change of positions multiple times in different combinations (you can see what we have been working on), oblivious to any box. Beans surprised me - in less than 60 seconds she was sitting in the box - it was a very tight squeeze but she did it like she had been doing it all her life. Lexi was last and proved the most amusement. She was like a dog on speed and her take on it all was to kick the box with her back legs, back up to it and to try and put her back legs only into the box, all as fast as she could. I did get some of this on video - but unfortunately most of it happened just out of screen. It was a worthwhile exercise and one I should definitely do more often - it was great fun for all of us.
  20. Thank you :D So hows the training coming along? Are you looking forward to the Albany trial - not long to go
  21. Rally Valley - you are doing a great job with Toby - you haven't thrown in the towel and you are making progress - BIG pat on the back to you and keep up the good work Thanks for posting the video Cosmolo - yep as Huski said you would never guess he has HD and ED - how old is he? Now you have broken the ice you will need to keep posting them ;)
  22. Right....I think :D Might have to dust off the box on Monday night to double check! Has Alex ever mixed a box signal?
  23. Interesting Kathq using different hands for different gloves. I use the same hand (left) to give direction regardless of which glove I am sending to.
  24. Hi Tiggy - sorry I never answered you about heeling with your arm outstretched. When we had our lesson we were supposed to teach the dog an extended hand target and once the dog knew this to have your hand just above the dogs nose so that it is prancing in an upward manner. Your arm should be outstretched and you make sure that it is always in line with your shoulder or heel position (never forward or behind you). All very good if you have tall dogs, but in my case Strauss was just a puppy and I felt that I was leaning backwards. So I decided I would hold my hand up high and drop the occasional bit of food which seemed to work for us.
