  1. From my experience, I think sending a bitch away to have a litter is cruel & places them under extra stress but then my bitches have always been pets as well and want their "Mum" with them during whelping.
  2. I have owned/bred a traditionally docked breed for many years - I prefer a Poodle with a docked tail & certainly don't think docking is cruel, providing it is done properly by a vet. However, the fact is that docking is now illegal in Australia and we have had to get used to the look of an undocked tail on a Poodle - I certainly wouldn't go to the ridiculous lengths of sending a bitch to NZ so the tails could be docked - wouldn't put a bitch I loved through the stress, for one thing!
  3. How do you get a puppy with a docked tail in Australia?
  4. Prahran Vet Hospital would be (from my personal experience) one of the most expensive Vets in Melbourne. I won't comment on their competence on a public forum. ETA - if you want to PM me I can tell you a story!
  5. There's also an Obedience Club at Sunbury. They run (or used to) trials, so they must be a reasonably big club.
  6. oops, just realised I don't actually want to post in here
  7. Oh RS, that is the thing with beagle babies. They HAVE to be cute, otherwise no one would be stupid enough to buy one I always used to say that puppies HAD to be gorgeous, otherwise no-one would ever have more than 1 litter they are so cute that you can forgive them anything. All the puppies shown here are so cute - can't wait for MY next puppy - but Mr.Poodlemum's got a BIIIIGGG learning curve
  8. I had a bitch who used to get very fussy about her food at around the same stage of pregnancy - if she's eating the chicken thighs I wouldn't worry too much. Have you tried giving her some puppy food? My bitch would (with a lot of coaxing) eat Nature's Gift tinned puppy food, which is fairly high in calcium.
  9. Steve what is stopping you from creating your own forum, perhaps you could call it MDBAonline. This would enable you to talk about labradorxpoodles, developing new breeds, altering breed standards, how the ANKC is a crappy outdated organisation and whatever else you choose to discuss without having to deal with posts from any old fashioned, non-progressive ANKC supporters. It would also be a good place to discuss how you're going to run the MDBA 'shows' and all other events you are planning to conduct in the future. I won't put a little man rolling on the floor with laughter after this post because personally I don't find your continual knocking of the ANKC in the least amusing, I have also noticed that your derogatory remarks have markedly increased since the formation of the new MDBA registry. Well apart from saying that I consider a labxpoodle a mutt, that's all I have to say and if this post gets me a warning or an exclusion from DOL so be it. Miranda - great post, if you get warned or banned for it, then DOL it not was it purports to be - this is a PUREBREED dog forum
  10. My plates are PQQDLE - hot pink, of course! I would have loved to get MYRANA (my prefix) but someone already has it in Victoria
  11. Eukanuba's ok - but very over-priced, IMO, and I would NEVER give it to a puppy!
  12. How is this thread still alive? FFS - they are MUTTSSSSSS - enough said -
  13. I agree with you 100% frufru - I also made this point but was shouted down by the know-it-alls on here I still consider this entire thread a contravention of forum rules and believe that people who are posting on here defending BYB dogs should not be on a pure breed forum.
  14. Forum Rule No. 4 - Quote "We also ask that you refrain from unnecessary designer dog discussion." These mutts do not deserve discussion on a pure-bred site
  15. As someone who has been a Registered Breeder for 17 years , it sound like a load of absolute W*NK to me. FFS - if you are so lazy you can't be bothered weeding out the irresponsible would-be owners from a personal meeting you shouldn't be breeding!
  16. Interesting point, but Judges aren't always specialists in a particular breed - they might be judging Group 7 but still not know what a Poodle should look like & give an inferior "type" Best Of Breed" because it's the only one there
  17. Oh yes - I should have mentioned that as another breed I would like - a very dear friend of mine has one & he is lovely! I also love Lappies, whippets, dachshunds - OK - I'm just another "breed whore"
  18. Ohhh - is that MY Harrison? - he is gorgeous! I've always been a Standard Poodle person - I did have a GSP for many years, and he was lovely, but I have an adverse reaction to dog hair. If this wasn't the case I would most definitely have a Golden Retriever - I just love them, their smiles, their bounce, their willingness to work (NOT a Poodle trait )
  19. haha I remember years ago with my first Anatolian, I wrote that he was a Labrador x. It worked I guess Sort of like when I had to rent a place many years ago & asked the agents if a dog would be OK & said "she's just a Poodle" to which the agent replied, "oh yes, they're only small dogs" (I didn't feel the need to tell her that it was a Standard Poodle )
  20. Just the a baaaad mis-spelling. In "Dogs Victoria" magazine, of all places A dog was described as an Australian Sheppard to the proof-reader
  21. Poodles do too!! I've had dogs I've bred recognise me after 2-3 years!
  22. Exactly what I was thinking! What is an attacking dog? Could you be charged for having a maltese terrier that bit at strangers' ankles an 'attacking dog'? Would the owner of that dog have to go to court? of course not. For Gods sake - its the owner not the breed - eg. what the UK are doing by punishing bad owners not 'bad breeds'. I think that is a FANTASTIC idea. and im sorry for the police officer but its a bit stupid to just walk into a yard with three strange dogs. *sigh* does anyone bother to READ all the posts (including the 1st one) before jumping in?
