  1. Love boys then one of each for 2 and 2 boys one girl for all desexed
  2. Growing up I loved all animals esp dogs and had no fear of any animal, it took a while for my parents to teach me not to go up to strange dogs. My kids are very similar esp my daughter, But I am very strict with them and they are very animal savvy, My daughter has been nipped by Cindy my mums whippet on the arm when she got ontop of her before my mum realised what she was doing and squeesed her, my daughter was told it was her own fault and the dog was by no means told off. My daughter is a very in your face type of person whether your an animal or human it doesn't matter, its something that she is getting better with as she grows we call her the invader, she doesnt understand why anyone would personal space.... Its more our own animals though I never give them the chance to get close to other peoples dogs when we are shopping, walking or at the park etc, I just say no you dont touch other peoples dogs I don't care just no. At my sons kinder they are teaching the children how to be safe around dogs. Something like "No lead, No owner, No touch", and if there is an owner you always ask first
  3. Blue merle is perfectly acceptable in the Cardigan Welsh Corgi (often accompanied by a blue eye - also acceptable) however it's not a colour we get in the Pembroke Welsh Corgi though occassionally a blue eye will occur (I've never seen one) and a blue eye is not acceptable in a Pembroke. Hope this helps :D Ok thanks I couldnt remember whether it was a Cardigan welsh Corgi or a Pembroke Corgi, obviously it is a Cardigan. She is a gorgeous dog. I love the one blue eye on any dog.
  4. Sorry if I missed it, but is the blue merle bad in the corgi's? My aunty has one with a blue eye.
  5. The Xoloitzcuintle.... though I have no idea how to say the name, I used to dream of having one as a child.... can't remember why, think just because they are different, but there wasn't any in Oz then and only one Reg breeder on here now.... Im guessing from their prefix its someone who posts here
  6. I just love this thread, so many that I did not know about!!! even a few breeds I didnt know of. Esp love the white and black lab, panda shepherd, long haired rotti and a few others. A friend got a dog that was crossed between a long haired rotti and an american bulldog.... said it was really rare and something about it being popular over seas somewhere.... I just figured it wasn't a purebred esp with the owners pumping out x puppies and I thought that if it was true that the long hair would be disqualifying... not that they were breeding purebreds anyway. Ide have a mismarked lab anyday. Also like the phantom poodles and the pie poodles.
  7. Lil ones in the laundry sink or in the shower with me, big ones outside with the hose in hot weather, colder weather buckets of warm water or the bath if it needs a clean anyways. and fez gets washed more often then julie as he is up on your lap-furniture and the poodle smell is quite strong, julie I do whenever.
  8. I must admit I have always had concerns of boarding my entire male dogs ... you would have no way of knowing if that boarding kennel (or someone who worked there) had used your male to start a couple of litters. I was thinking exactly the same thing!!!!
  9. What beautiful dogs!!! I love the big fella, I adore big noble guys. And the cavs are adorable, love seeing good quality dogs, esp of the "popular" breeds where there tends to be alot of not so well bred ones around. Good job.
  10. Growing up I was always told it was much better to have two bitches then two dogs, esp two entire males..... Though over the years I started to notice that it might not actually be the case and then after being a member of this forum I have read things to confirm my doubts. Growing up my mum had midge our mini foxie girl and my aunty had a JRT they were similar ages with only a few weeks age gap, Midge was fine a typical terrier but not interested in fighting at all, the JRT would act nice while she thought people were watching but would bail midge up every chance she got, Midge still has a damaged tip of an ear from her. This dog was just a real BITCH and should of been pts way earlier than it eventually was.... It got into a litter or 2week pups (kids leaving a door or something open) and tried to kill them, one had a fractured skull and its eye nearly popped out of its socket, the rest all had neck wounds and were only saved because someone heard the racket of the mother (also a JRT) trying to fend off the nasty bitch. My lab growing up was always top bitch with the extended family dogs but she never hurt anyone, one day the nasty JRT was giving midge a hard time in the yard and I happened to be at the window I seen Kara (lab) veer across the yard at the JRT flip her onto her back and then pretty much lay ontop of her put her muzzle to the side of her face/neck and eyeball her..... The JRT from memory never gave midge a hard time again while visiting. When I was given a pair of shar peis from my aunty who had decided to end her time with that breed, the female bu was 2 1/2 and my lab I think 8, they got on fine for the first 6months to a yr, then the shar pei started wanting to be top bitch (I think she could sense the lab getting weak in old age) I caught the pei one day rushing kara's kennel and dragging her out of it by the ruff of her neck and just start mauling her, luckily I was there and lucky all I had to do to call her off was to yell her name and she stopped, only ever one other fight where the pei managed to get where the lab was at night time and that woke me up during the night in pitch black i had to follow to noise but once again managed to stop the fight with noise alone, I found the lab and brought her in for the night, she had bite marks all around her neck down her from legs and down one of her back legs, when it got light I went out to check the pei being sure she would be fine, but indefence the lab had ripped open all the soft tissue around her muzzle, alot of cleaning to keep out infection but they both healed fine. We managed it for a while, Ide have the shar peis penned in the corner of the yard and let the lab out for a run around the yard but bu would get so frustrated that she couldnt get to the lab she would then attack the male shar pei and hand off his face.... Kara was pts only after about 10months of this from health issues and not having quality of life from her pain RIP beautiful girl. Now I have julie a 2 1/2 yr old std poodle bitch, Midge the 14 yr old mini foxie bitch, Cindy the 8month whippet bitch, Fez the 8month old toy poodle dog and soon to be a toy poodle bitch pup running together, Midge sleeps most of the time in her old age but we watch her and julie together as midge is a grump now and will growl and snap if annoyed and I do not think Julie as a dominant bitch will tolerate it. Cindy is not interested in being dominate as yet but she is still a pup, same as fez though as fez matures he is beginning to tell cindy off when she is too rough or annoys him, the pup I have coming is the best show prospect girl with a really outgoing personality but is as yet only 5 weeks old so will be talking to the breeder in the coming weeks to get an idea of her behavior within the litter. It would be the new pup and Julie I would have to be careful about if the new bitch is pushy. But I intend on having the yard devided when we finally buy our own place for the lil ones anyway. And they are all crate trained.
  11. I would crate him in a big crate wit lots of toys etc to keep entertained, you don't want neighbours getting grumpy at you for him being noisy. And just build up the outside time over weeks/months until he gets used to it if that is where you eventually want him to be! Have you tried giving him something really good and interesting while he is outside that he wouldn't get while he is inside? That might also help so that he see's outside as a good place not just somewhere that he gets shoved out to and doesnt want to be.
  12. Julie is 100% inside toilet trained she came to me that way... having said that she will drop her poo anywhere she pleases while outside and usually right in the middle of where they all like to run the smaller dogs are good at dodging the mines she just runs through them ;) so that is a bog pain... also they have made a game where Julie grabs a towel or blanket (one of theirs that they lay on outside) and then Cindy or fez grab on and lay on the towel/blanket and Julie pulls them around the yard on it.... Very entertaining to watch but not so funny when you see the skin marks she has dragged them over.... :D The pups Fez and Cindy are both 8months Cindy only took a few months and was completely house trained except one accident that I believe was on purpose as she wanted to go outside and was denied.... Fez will wee inside sometimes if not put out soon enough after a sleep or being inside for a while but its our own fault for not noticing in the husle and bustle of this house that it is time to put him out.... Midge has a weak bladder in her old age and sometimes wees in the crate at night or during the day if not noticed soon enough.
  13. I grew up with labs and lab crosses mainly, kara a badly bred byb yellow lab was my best friend growing up the oldest soul from a pup, I had her in my life from when I was 6 until 16 and I was shocked and blessed she lived that long, she chose me from the day she came home and we were the light in each others eyes, she was so maternal she got milk and fortered a litter of JRT puppies that my aunties dog didnt want. RIP beautiful girl. Labs are my heart breed but after a few bad experiences I decided I needed something different and that something different ended up being Poodles. I have a toy and a standard, Fez is a breeze and such a happy little chappy and so easy, Julie (though I got her as a 2yr old hoping to have a settled adult) is still more of a lunatic then fez, but she is still a great girl and only has eyes for my partner our kids and I. Fez loves everyone. As I plan on adding skin baby no 3 in about 2 yrs I am waiting until that child is a lil older before adding a lab again. Ide love another yellow but as I dont want to feel like im trying to replace Kara I will prob get a boy, as well as I dont want to have two large Bitches running together. I think I will always have poodles now though, they are happy as long as they have you.
  14. Mine are inside and out as they please or as I say, Big girl is outside if im not home and the lil fella is crated inside. We live in a rural area so walking isnt really necesarry for excercise or safe walking right next to the main road with trucks etc going past and now the weather is warming snakes are coming out. I take the dogs in the car whenever possible and make sure they stay socialised. There is always so much going on in my house they do not get bored. Julie does not care at all about the rain she runs around in it out in the yard!!! Fez isn't so keen, but likes the beach.
  15. Fez (Toy poodle and youngest) does it to Cindy (whippet and a few weeks older than fez both about 8months) when he is excited or just being affectionate, then Cindy does it to Julie (standard poodle who is 2 1/2yrs) both the pups would do it to midge our elderly Foxie if she wasn't so cranky, They get the odd lick in before she tells em to go away I think it is affection/ submissive and sometimes just cause it seems like a good idea Both poodles are human lickers as well, but Cindy and Midge are not.
  16. We have suicidal ducks here, who fly out of their coop. Walk around the farm (only 2 of the 5) together have a blast and then when the dogs notice them and go to tease them they just waddle/run instead of fly away even though their really good flyers, lucky Julie obviously has a soft mouth and also only got tail as I had to tell her to drop one when I had her out and didnt see the duck in time.
  17. That's just terrible and so scary, what if he had burried her as soon as he got home? she would of woken up in the hole!!! omg
  18. OMG, What a great dog!!! Go Khan!!! My dad as a child was saved from a snake by a lab, It herded him onto a stump in some longish grass and then attacked the snake, killed it without getting bitten, that would of been about 40yrs ago so lucky for the dog.
  19. RIP Kasper. Im very sorry for you and your wifes loss.
  20. Just seen this thread, and I am so happy for you that he is going to make it!!!! What a shock and horrible thing for you both to go through! And I agree with a previous post, YOU ARE AMAZING FOR GETTING HIM TO THE VET IN TIME!!!! Hope he makes a full recovery, he is gorgeous!!!
  21. She is gorgeous!!! great work saving her
  22. Your girl is gorgeous!!!! good work with adopting her!!!
  23. Don't blame you at all for being p'd off!!!! Its so not on! I would definatley be going to the council and/or the rspca. The dogs living conditions is just wrong, I feel sorry for the dog, BUT you cannot just not do anything about it, cause if he does dicide to come into your yard and run a muck it will be things that cannot be replaced that he might harm, unlike a fence.
