  1. I might need to look into that one, thankyou!!
  2. I have a beautiful golden retriever who has turned one this week who is currently dropping coat. My problem is that it is his undercoat and as this is dropping it is matting with the upper coat. I am currently brushing him 2-3 times per day. He gets wet and the problem gets really bad and I am struggling keeping up with the matting. The beach is our walking area and impossible to keep a golden out of the water!! Does anyone have any suggestions. I am picking up a girlfriends Mars Coat King to give it a go tomorrow? What does everyone think? I am sure once all dropped he will be all fine again until next time. He is washed with Aloveen shampoo and I have just purchased some conditioner. Look forward to hearing any recommendations. Thank you.
  3. In the bath with a shower attachment however this will have to change as 28kilos and still growing and a double coat is making it a very long, slow and back breaking method!
  4. k9+katz kitchen are fantastic www.k9katzkitchen.com.au - I get my Artemis there. Fast delivery and great for advice!!
  5. Sorry but the name of this thread cracks me up ! I agree with what has been said. What exaclty is he eating and what does your vet say. Have all medical reasons been investigated?
  6. Image I think alot more people than you imagine do exactly understand what losing a loved pet is like. I am one. to you.
  7. Artemis here for both dogs and they love it and are thriving.....
  8. By boy loves apples - I do remember reading the seeds are not good for them. My boy actually steals apples from the fruit bowl if he can get to it...... We have caught him on numerous occasions knicking out the back door with apple in mouth.... LOL
  9. Aloveen here too, never tried the conditioner, but happy with the shampoo.
  10. I think our dogs are the norm....it's all those other perfectly trained weirdos that need serious help!! LOL
  11. I booked him in for his annual immunisation. Did not even think to question what was being given. They always get a c5(??) in case they go into a ckennel somewhere throughout the dyear not that that has happened yet.... Heatworm inj - they should have known better, however stupid me. I now know better! Yep I paid for it! Weak little me, paid and got out of there angry with myself for not kicking up a fuss! Cavandra - my stupidity, live and learn. Hadmy boy died or had major complications it might have been different. She was just a locum filling in whilst the vet was away.
  12. Welcome to our world - Diesel is 9 months old exactly and is back is search and destroy mode. It's just a stage I figure. Go to the local op shop and buy hundreds of cheap stuffed toys which of course he will destroy. And you will pick up tons and tons of stuffing - that stuff can spread more than a wildfire!! LOL If you are anything like me, we have kongs, treat balls, he is walked at the beach and river & park, trained, has another dog for company and still he destroys. We come home nightly to stuffing, leaves, roots, twiggs, everything imaginable on our back deck....all part of owning the best breed IMO
  13. I hadn't ever taken my dog for his vaccinations and did this time (Not Diesel - pom X Rusty) I was giving him heartworm and worming Interceptor Spectrum which the vet knew as it is in my file. She still gave him heatworm injection and C5 without asking. Call me dumb but when I asked what the second injection was she said heartworm Now I figure if you read my file - it's all there, and to not be questioned or asked but to just inject.....dumb or not dumb, a little on both sides in my case!! He lost all his fur on the injection site, thank god that was all! Never ever again....I will ddrive them crazy with questions - a lesson learnt - never asssume a vet knows you or reads your file...
  14. Bananas Diesel goes ape over .......the drool if one of the kids is eating one is amazing. He will smell one out wherever it may be being consumed and wait patiently for the last bit!! He also loves watermelon and apple, probably anything else I offered knowing the guts..
  15. Diesel cost $238.00 and he was 22.8kilos. When I asked for a quote the vet nurse did ask for his weight. She explained that was to work out how much anaesthetic he would require as it affects the price. It also covered the collar, a visit when he had problems after the desexing and the appointment for stitches to be removed.
  16. shauna - just a thought. I can't feed my dog raw chicken otherwise he gets the runs. When he last got the runs we had to do the rice biz for 7 days which was enough to break the cycle. Then slowly introduced him back to normal food over the next seven day, very slowly. He does not get raw chichen anymore.....Maybe cut out the chook necks. I am no expert that's for sure but I'm sure I've read that some dogs do not tolerate raw chicken. Worth a try whilst waiting for vet results.
  17. Have swapped Diesel from EP Holistic to Artemis. Been about a month now, perhaps a little soon to tell but all seems to be going well. He loves it, coat is shinning and good, energy great, eats much less than EP which is great for the purse.... now if they could just come up with a nutirent which would stop him from ripping his bed up to a million pieces all would be well
  18. Diesel turns 1 on the 4th September.... 1st day home (8 weeks to the day) At the beach a week or so ago.... Where's that little puppy gone?
  19. I agree with A2G - Diesel was in the price bracket stated (now 8 months old). Did my reserch and it seems to be the price in Melbourne for a golden! Well worth every cent paid IMO!

    Poo Everywhere

I feel your pain - my GSD used to do that all the time. Like you it drove me mad, bits everywhere! LOL Thank goodness Dies doesn't do that too......I'd go batty with another 12+ years of that. Couldn't stop Kayla from doing it, we tried her on a leash, put her in a small enclosure to go - nothing worked. My only tip - keep the lawn short - it's easier to find that way
  21. As said before - a popular breed perhaps, a little less on the common!! ETA sp
  22. I really wouldn't worry. The adult ones should move forward and take up their position. Give it a little more time..
  23. Thanks everyone - really appreciate it!!
  24. Bummer - I am just back from there too - that girl is soooooo rude! No customer service skills at all. Will try the vets on the way home.
  25. I have a 7mth golden who I have noticed has quite a bit of brown in one ear. I have neaver cleaned his ears - the pom X has always licked them clean, gross I know but he has done a good job! Since his desexing the pom hasn't kept up with the program and I noticed yesterday one has quite a bit of brown/black in one ear. It doesn't smell offensive just a little musty. Am I right in just getting something to clean it out with or does it need more investigation at a vet. It is not bothering him, as I said doesn't smell, he's not scratching or shaking. Suggestions for a cleaner please (if that's the way I should go).......will pop into Petstock in Braeside on the way home. Thanks all in advance.....
