  1. Well actually mine isn’t into balls...or toys...I think shes broken He is utterly obsessed with rocks though when we walk her down at the river she’ll stand there in the water wanting you to throw pebbles for her to catch, we throw them but never so she can catch them just incase anyone was worried
  2. Exactly, no two dogs are the same, everyone has different needs and different thing work for different dogs. Which really shows that this idea of the RSPCA's is ridiculous apart from that how would they govern it??
  3. But at the same time that isn’t always responsible, it depends on the particular dog and the situation. For example I know if someone who has a staffy that is out of control and always destroying things in the backyard around the house. I asked the owner if she walks the dog etc she said no I don’t need to he already gets plenty of exercise running around the backyard. To me that is just ridiculous, he needs stimulation, he needs to be able to leave his backyard to sniff around and experience something different. Its not just about exercise but mental stimulation is so important. I think in the case of this person shes just lazy and IMO shouldn’t have a dog. I also think being a responsible owner is not just about providing adequate food and shelter etc but making sure the dog is happy and has a good quality of life. Also being courteous to other people which means training your dog, having them properly enclosed and controlling them. This also means its your problem if something goes wrong and its your responsibility to fix the problem.
  4. I must have it pretty good, where I walk Trixie is off lead along a river across the road from me and most of the time there are no problems. But Trixie, in her younger days, had some DA issues so I would always have her on the lead unless I could see that there was no one around. Whenever I saw an offlead dog coming I would bring her in very close to me so she was up against my leg, thinking this makes it pretty obvious to the approaching person that I do not want their dog coming near her or I'd actually say shes not good with dogs, yet sometimes people would ignore me or they couldnt get their dog back, it'd come rushing up and Trixie would start a bit of a scuffle then I would get yelled at!! What the hell is wrong with people?!?!?! They would say horrible things to me and tell me that I shouldnt be walking her in public, like I had done something wrong yes lets just leave her in the backyard thats gonna help her issues!!!! Anyway she's great now and happily walks offlead and quietly says hello to some dogs but just ignores most although if a dogs starts up at her she wont back down, this happened the other week when a couple had two maltese x on lead but were sitting behind a tree so I didnt see them, one started going nuts at Trix and she did the same back I put her onlead straight away and was very embarrassed said sorry to the couple who not only didnt say anything they didnt even look at me, later on in our walk we came across two older ladies with two pekingese who saw what happened earlier, they saw Trix and started going oh no fluffy oh no come back, I grabbed Trix even though she couldnt care less about these dogs ;) and I said its ok she wont eat them and the old lady says oh yes but they have a reputation those dogs of well you know and I said well they shouldnt, she's a friendly dog but she will fight back if another dog has a go at her then the lady changed her tune and agreed with me and even said she thinks the 'little fluffy' dogs start it most of the time
  5. She does like him shaggy, I'll mention that to her.
  6. No worries. Make sure if clipping is done it's done poodle style - top of feet and between the pads too. Ok I'll mention that because I know he gets clipped sometimes but not sure where its done or what style etc Better qualify that by saying just poodle style feet.. although once again, keeping the air up to ears is one of the reasons the muzzle is shaved. For dogs with yeasty ears, I recommend they be 15# bladed too. ETA: Poodles have their undercarriage shaved too. Has this dog got a long thick coat? He has a thickish curly coat, more like tightish ringlets.

  8. Thanks Poodlefan I'll pass that one now. I have no idea about this sort of thing as I've never had a dog with allergies or long ears etc
  9. They got some drops from the vet, she said shes not sure if it was a yeast infection in the ears or something else but the vet gave them drops for whatever it was. His got a thickish curly coat, she tries to wash him every fortnight and brushes him regularly he goes to the groomer every so often but no his feet aren’t shaved.
  10. Shes not sure about the ear canals, she said she doesnt think they are particuarly hairy but then she says she wouldnt really know as she has nothing to compare them to.
  11. He is a lab x poodle, white yes. He was being fed Science Diet but has switched to Royal Canin.
  12. She said the vet looked at it under a microscope and it is definately yeast. I was under the impression that a yeast infection is something that you treat and it should go away, it shouldn't be hanging around. The vet gave her a cream which she says has been working but it hasnt gotten rid of it. I guess shes wanting some natural remedy ideas?
  13. A friend has asked me to ask the all knowing people of DOL a question for her. Her dog has red and itchy paws, ears and genital region. The vet has said it is a yeast infection and they have been using a medicated shampoo which it seems isn’t working. Does anyone have any advice? One of her friends apparently told her to treat the paws with watered down metho!! I don’t actually know but that doesn’t sound good to me.
