Awwww Erny, I wish you hadn't deleted your posts, I always look forward to Your input in threads!!

    Giardia

My vet said lots of dogs have it with no symptoms, it's just that having mine routinely tested is why it showed up, he also said most dogs thathave it have no symptoms. But I have a friend who used to work at a big kennel inMelbourne and she said when it went through there it was awful as every dog had the runs and it was very hard to control, it obviously effects dogs differently. I do find with Lacy she seems to have a lower immune system than the other 3.

    Giardia

Thanks for the feed back, well that's what I am worried about to is the other three getting it, however I thought it was strange that Delta told me as Tullys results were negative she cans still visit the hospital, but I would have thought what if she catches it off Lacy? It doesn't really matter at this point in time as I can't visit myself as I have whooping cough and the doctors recommended me to steer clear of the hospital till I feel much better. Ams do you mean inner health plus that we would take? What sort of dose would I be looking at giving her? She is around 13 kilos. It will be interesting to see what the results are tomorrow, it's my vets day off but I'm hoping he is there, he left a msg on my machine tonight but by the time i got home from work and rang he was gone. All the while Lacy seems fine, no diarorreah (sp) she seems happy enough in herself and playing around like usual. Also the other 3 are all good. The thing is I cant figure out where they may have got it from as I havent taken them out much with ring sick, however the one place we do go has a big drinking bowl and is frequented by lots of dogs. So possibly there? I really am reluctant to give her 3 days worth of drontal at $36 bucks, and look the money is not the issue, im worrried the drontal will effect her, and I thought antibiotics would be better? So Erny you reckon AB's would be no good as it is a parasite not a bacteria?
  4. Hi Guys, just wondering if anyone has had any experience with giardia in their dog/dogs. My girls are therapy dogs and have to be tested every 3 months. They have a throat swab and stool sample tested. All good so far but this last one they and done, Lacy tested positive for Giardia. So she Can't visit now till she has 3 clear tests which have to be done over 3 months. She recently had the first test since she got it and I will get the results tomorrow. I asked the vet about antibiotics but he said because she didn't have any symptoms antibiotics were not needed. I was going to give her drontal but to treat for Giardia with drontal she has to have 3 full doses for 3 consecutive days, I was worried about what that would so to her?? I think if her results tomorrow are still positive I will ask for anti biotics. So if anyone has had any experience with this I'd love to hear it.
  5. Not sure about braking any rules, but it's a great idea. I just noticed now I'm on my iPod touch, I can't view it at all so it must use flash. But on the pc it's great!! Looks like everyone had a great day out, especially the doggies!!
  6. Great advice above, I have 4 dogs ranging from 5 to down to 3 the first 3 I did not use a crate for but the last boy had to have a crate for sleeping, I didn't crate him at all during the day, just supervised him took him out for toilet stops, he played with the other dogs and slept a lot, he toilet trained quickly (i think due to the other dogs he learnt from them) but at night he needed to go in the crate as he disrupted the other dogs and thier routine, the other 3 never did this they just settled at night but not this boy, he screamed blue murder for the first 3 nights, then it finally eased to a dull roar then he just knew I was just as stubborn as he was. but I did have the crate next to the bed for the first year of his life and for a lot of that time my hand was on the crate at night so he knew I was just there. The crate is over the other side of the room now and he still sleeps in it, we think he thinks he is special as he has a crate and the others don't is it possible not to crate him during the day and just supervise him or have a dedicated area with maybe a barrier so he can only access parts of the house you choose, then just use the crate at night. Not sure if this is an acceptable method but its what I did and it worked for us so just a suggestion. Good luck, would love to see pics of your new pup.
  7. Fab shots as always! But how did you get the pics to display as a slide show thats a great idea!
  8. Love justice in his new hoodie, so cute!! Starting to feel a bit better each day, think my lot looked so happy after their run as they have been cooped up with me being sick. But I must say they have coped so well as they are used to lots of excersise. Very proud of them!!
  9. Happy Birthday Tanya. Hope you are having a Great day!!
  10. Awww, puppy has the sweetest face! Loving Tobys ears im that shot!
  11. I'm just going to add a couple of random iPhone snaps for my week 30 'and 31 shot.
  12. Just wanted to add, if we all go away, OH me and the dogs, the back of the wagon is full of stuff, then all 4 dogs fit in the back seat with their seat belt clips on, 3 clipped to the seat belt holders and one clipped to the cargo barrier. I also pack stuff behind the front seats so it makes the back seat extra wide so they have more room to stretch out. If I go away on my own, I have been guilty of having one in the front with me usually Cooper but he still has a seat belt strap on. And the other 3 in the back seat.
  13. The photos in here the last couple of weeks are just awesome every single one of them! I'm still not in the land of the living fully yet although I have snapped a couple of random shots of Bron, so I will upload them eventually. Keep up the good work everyone.
  14. Oh Tenties what a bummer! I sympathize with not feeling well. Hope you get rid of the bug soon. I've only been to Adelaide twice I really liked it, but that was a long time ago maybe it's changed since then?
  15. Well at least it is happening, it definatley sounds like it was Darren that served you. I'll definatley check out your site. God help me I am working the next two days, both early starts it's all I can do to get through my shift and then back home and fall in a heap so glad I don't work full time!
  16. Arghhh sorry JJ, I've had another 3 days off this week, my usual days off plus an extra one, still trying to get better which is not happening hope you at least got some good service? It may have been the guy that got the snake that served you? He knows his stuff. How's the fit out going?
  17. I have a wagon, so most of the time all 4 are in the back, but if they are in the back seat they have clip in seat belt things that clip onto the collar.
  18. I totally agree with you, ionly posted something similar a little while ago, I've been (still) sick for some weeks now and my dogs have been amazing! Love them soooooo much!!
  19. There is actually more they need, my two girls "are" accredited therapy dogs, they visit hospitals, they have to have testing every 3 months which involves a throat swap and also a sample of thier pooh has to be tested. There is strict guide lines we have to adhere to, to be able to visit our facilities.
  20. The only time my 4 howl all in unison is when the phone rings but if I am in the room they don't do it. only if I'm in another room or outside, it's like they are alerting me to the fact that the phone is ringing. I'd love to know if they do it if I'm not home?? I think dog howling is a forlorn sound.
  21. Thats great does he do it with a soccer ball too?? My girl Tully is ball mad but she just retrieves it for me to throw again.
  22. Tenties, I have searched my Address book for Garys number but it seems to have vanished! He might be listed in the phone book or shoot Tanya a PM as I know she had Bruno to him a while back she may still have his number.
  23. His name is Gary Parsons, I think I still have his number somewhere, will look in the morning, ( remind me if I forget) he is really reasonably priced too but I think only practices out of the show grounds once or twice a week, it's been about 3 years since I took my lot.
  24. Wow another birthday, happy birthday beautiful boy, can we please have some more pics?
