What Is Your Favourite Time Of Day With Your Dog/s?
tlc replied to Little Gifts's topic in General Dog Discussion
I love threads like this, it shows just how much we love our dogs. I have lots of favorite times of the day with mine. Morning sleep ins, I am lucky most days I don't have to get up for work early and the dogs and I sleep in. Our walks time, love seeing them run off leash just enjoying their times out and about. Doggy play dates, funny to,watch them interacting with their fur friends. The bed time routine is another favorite time, they all congregate on the bed with me for cuddles and then when OH comes to bed he brings a small treat and they all disperse to thier sleeping areas. I love grooming time as it really is good to have that one on one time as well. I could go on, I just love anytime with them. As I'm Typing this the boys have gone to their beds on the floor, one in his crate, the other quietly snoring on his floor bed. The girls on the bed, Lacy cuddling with me and Tullys cuddling with the OH gazing into his eyes like a love sick puppy. -
Does anyone around the Bairnsdale area use black halk and if so do you get it delivered? I'm just about to shoot off an email to Sherel but thought id pop in here too.

Jjs shop is a big talking point between two of my work mates, they both love the scaly ones Thing is now they think I am making it up about knowing you as each time I say oh I just seen Mick, there like really where is he still here. They can't wait till you open! I really do hope we can catch up for a fur date soon, although I am back to the doctors this arvo, something is just not right with me, I know WC takes a long time to get over but I am having trouble getting good breaths and pain when i do, also sore back and terribly sore ribs, plus still coughing which I know will take a while to go. Somedays I think Oh I feel much better today then the next I feel as bad as I did to begin with. Plus tired and no energy. So will see what the doc says this arvo.

Hey Jj did you miss my post about the smart meters? We are expecting a knock on the door any day!

I do think your comments were an over reaction however I know it can be frustrating, but sometimes you just have to hold your tounge, grin and bare it as they say! I have come across people, young adults at the beach (dog beach) with tiny new puppies and have no idea about vaccinating times etc. Out of concern for the puppies i will quite often strike up conversation with the owners, ive never been abused thankgoodness!! The vet told us that parvo can live in the sand for as long as it can live in dirt and the beach is an area where there can be high incidents of parvo as lots of people don't pick up their dog pooh and just cover it over I do get tired of comments from people but would never react in such a manner as you did. Continuous comments I get, * 4 dogs you must be a breeder. * gee you have your hand full..... This one is my pet hate. * wow they must cost you a fortune to feed. * it must be hard finding the time to care for all those dogs. Never! * Gee I would hate to have your vet bill. :D * various nasty crossbreed comments. very used to that!! On the other side of the coin, there is lots of lovely people out there who only have nice things to say to a person walking thief dog/dogs, and I find the good out weigh the bad.

Ok a pretty lame shot for week 32. Bronson is a slipper and sock boy, he always likes to carry something in his mouth especially if he is greeting someone or when he comes to say hello to me first thing in the morning after Oh lets him out of his crate, he grabs a slipper and a sock and once he has said hello he goes to sleep usually using whatever he has brought me as a pillow. Fantastic shots guys, I've totally lost track of the weeks but will get back on track soon. Slowly getting better but have not had any inclination to pick the camera up! Cm, good spotting, and if you've got the boys down pat, the girls are easy both smaller and Tully is white. Funny how Asti and Rileys pics are the same on the steps, Cooper stands on my steps like this all the time, it must be comfy. Helen, that shot of Chazer and Kyla is so cute, it looks like they are having a great laugh over something!

No negatives that I can tell, my girl had trouble and I was suggested the same thing. I was using 1/2 teaspoon in her nightly feed. But now I only use it for a few days if I see she needs it. I have 4 and only one has a problem with anal glands but over time and change of diet she hasn't had any problems for ages.

Thanks that was only going to be a side bar for lacy for a couple days but since she didn't like it anyway I didn't bother trying again!
-
Brilliant, I had never seen that before, thanks for the laugh, must got find that on you tube and pop it on my Facebook page. What good doggies they were to sit there so patiently!

Ok thanks, I also wantedt to give her yukult, I don't take it myself all the time but I have been sick so I had some in the fridge so thougth I would just give her some of that each day too and gues what she turned her nose up. SO I put it down to see if the others would drink it and the two y oungest ones shared the bowl, they loved it!

I asked the pharmacist about how much to give based on around 15 kg per dog, he said One a day, perhaps this is too much. Doesn't seem to have done them any harm. Just wanted to give them a few days worth as one of my girls tested positive for giaria and now has tested positive for selmonella, although she has no symptoms, so just trying to get her back on track and thought it wouldnt hurt the other 3 either. Thanks for the replies!

Jj, how did you get on with the smart meter people? We are supposed to get ours soon, got a letter today and Sean said theres no way we want it and if they knock on the door I can tell hem to push on to the next house, he said he had heard we can say no? Just wondered what you found out??

Glad you had a good visit, I seen Nelly up the street and patted Molly and she was fine but Emmy wouldn't have a bar of me and hid behind Nellys legs, perhaps Molly is more out going. WIll see how the weekend pans out, I am exhausted after a 5 minute walk, still finding it hard to get a decent breath and no energy. I took the dogs to Harris street today and what a disaster, Cooper spotted a rabbit, need I say more, when they came back they were filthy covered in burs and sticky grass and looking so pleased with themselves and then to top it off they found a massive big muddy puddle and plonked themselves down in it!! Except for my clean little (tubby) mummies boy, there was no way he was leaving me to go chase rabbits. And he was so upset when they didn't come back right away, bouncing up and down on the spot. Anyway they have all (except B) been through the bath again and guess what they all just had baths yesterday, so hard to get all the sticky grass out of them and they stunk from the grundgy muddy water! So I am about pooped now! So from now on if we go to Harris street in the cage we go. Or if we are on the oval Cooper will have to go on lead. Thier recall is so good but a good rabbit hunt is much more fun! I think the combo of hardly getting out an minimal training of late has taken a bit of a toll so when we go out they make the most of it! Can't wait till the weather is better. However today has been quite nice! Tenties do you make your pea and ham soup with the trotters and another for your big fat rat, I will never forget the day when Tully got one at mums and she had it in her mouth, head and bum sticking out either end, I just about blew the roof off mum pergola screaming at her to drop it, she got such a fright she promptly spat it out. It was so sluggish we reckon it had a belly for of rat bait!

My lot all went at 8 weeks, 2 of mine did 2 different lots of puppy school. As it's been said The earlier they can be socialized the better!
-
Oh no Jj you can't get sick now you have to much to do! I am definatley feeling better a bit by bit each day, hard at the end of the day when it gets colder as the coughing gets worse but thankfully the coughing is eased heaps at night so I can finally get some decent sleep, I think that's half the battle. hey Jj I went and got the inner health plus today so each pupa has been dosed, not sure how many days to give them? Any clues. I will have a chat to craig tomorrow when he rings and see what other things he recommends for my little poppet!!

Well I'm thinking it's probly not as bad as it sounds, I'll just wait to see what the vet says tomorrow. I'm just a worry wart, some of the stuff I've read has said lots of dogs carry the bug, but you never know because it's not something they test for unless there is symptoms. In any case no hospital visits for at least 3 months if she gets three clear tests!
-
I just had an email from the Delta lady that deals with all the path testing and she said that the dog can test positive for selmonella and not actually be sick and the only time they ask for the dog to be treated is if she has a positive result next month. This is what she wrote. Yes it does alter the testing now as it means you will have to start again so 3 more clean tests. I wouldn’t be worried about Tully but your vet can give you more advice because normally the dog is asymptomatic and a carrier which means they excrete the bug. The only time we would ask you to treat it would be if she came up with again next month. You should however avoid feeding raw chicken and meat when you are on pathology testing as you are more likely to come up with a pathogen like Salmonella. So I'm probly worrying about nothing!
-
Also in regards to what erny said in an earlier post, this It seems there is some controversy over the use of antibiotics to treat simple cases of salmonella enteritis (intestinal inflammation) with diarrhoea in dogs, suggesting that antibiotics can actually favour the growth of antibiotic resistant strains of salmonella. Antibiotics are therefore reserved for severely ill dogs. which is probly why the vets didn't give me the AB's in the first place.

Well I am gobsmacked now, I just rang the vet and my vet is off today but the receptionist spoke to another vet who looked at Lacys results, her tests for Giardia are now negative but she now has salmonella. I can't talk to my vet till tomorrow to find out what treatment she needs or if all the dogs will need to be treated. One of them had an accident inside the other day while I was at work and I am sure by the size of it, it was Cooper and anyone who knows this boy knows he would never do this, very out of character for him, or any of them to do something like this. I had a bit of a google and found a bit of stuff and thought this bit was interesting Puppies, young adults and dogs with weakened immune systems are most susceptible to salmonella. Most dogs infected with salmonella have what's known as "subclinical carrier state". This means that they have been infected but only very mildly & don't display any clinical manifestations of the disease. Salmonellosis isn't seen very often in dogs & it is believed they have a natural immunity to the bacteria. Risk factors which can make a dog more susceptible to salmonellosis include dogs in high stress situations & environments, dogs who's natural resistance has been compromised due to another infection, So it could be possible that due to the Giardia she had a weekend immune system and picked up the selmonella. The only think I can think of is that she may have got it from raw chicken as they often have wings and necks as part of thier diet. So now to change the topic has anyone had any dealings with Selmonella in dogs??
