Coopers Collar and Lead turned up today. It is fantastic, I took some photos but only inside much to Coopers disgust, when I put the collar on him and he seen me with the lead he thought we were going for a walk. I will get some better pics when the weather is nicer. I got a pretty groovy tag from etsy to go with the collar too You can tell how forlorne Cooper looks in these shots, not the best advertisment for such gorgeous leather ware, the next shots will be better I promise!!

It sure does, can't wait for a nice sunny day to get some pics outside, hard to get good ones with his ears though.

You forgot one, when owners actually drive thier car through the off leash dog park while thier dog runs off lead beside the car ;) At our dog park this is my biggest peeve, all the while there are other dogs runnings around the park! None of what you have stated in the OP is acceptable but there is bogan ferrels out there that just don't care! I had a guy yell out to me one day from a distance with his dog off lead, "don't let your dogs come near mine because they will come off second best" now to me he is saying he has an DA dog off lead in an off leash dog park, what idiot does that!! I just wanted to add for the most part we are lucky we don't live in a big city and mostly the people that frequent our parks are good and pretty relaxed and so are thier dogs it is only on occasion that you come across what I have mentioned above.

Great shots, Sid looks like he has grown heaps. That reminds me I must measure my lot for thier jammies.

Yes Tully was the first pics. The ears blend in with her fur. Bronson is hilarious to take set up photos of, he tries so hard and his expressions are just priceless!

Cooper was 8 months old when I got Lacy, introduced them on neutral territory and Cooper loved her right away. Yes mine are all poo x spaniel. You could put pups toys in the pen, fill a kong with food, give pup a chicken wing anything to take his mind off where he is. I found with all of mine they hated any sort of isolation and loved being with people and each other. I know lots of people who have this cross and it s not one that does well on thier own, like most dogs they love being part of the family. I used a porta cot for all of mine (except Cooper) just so they could have time out when they got tired, I had to be the judge of that or they would play with each other till exhaustion set in.

By the way welcome to DOL, this has been an entertaining thread! Have you got any pics of your boy?

Tnties apparently the mice and rats are in plague proportion. I was at the vets this morning and she told me they are just everywhere. The other day at Albert park the dogs were rolling in something disgusting and I soon realized from the fur on the ground it was a rat. needless to say we were pretty quick to get our arses out to the dog wash and they all went in. But Bronson was a good boy he doesn't roll in stinky stuff

Quite a few poodle and GSD owners have observed the breeds don't mix well. Very different body language, ear and tail set for a start. I have had three fairly serious aggression incidents towards my poodles over the years. 3/3 aggressors were GSDs. Each incident required me to physically intervene to get the aggressing dog off mine. That is really interesting, Lacy had an extreme reaction one to to a GSD, she flew into an actual rage and the GSD was only just looking at her, the owner is a friend of mine who I see occasionally and she blamed her boy but by no way did he even do anything and he is a good dog and never reacted to her outbust thank goodness! She has never reacted to other breeds like this only GSD's I am extremely aware of her reacton and avoid GSD's if we are out and about.
-
A little off topic but one of my girls Lacy (who is not keen on big dogs) she has a real phobia about GSD's, I havent got a clue why, she was bought up with them, at our obedience school our head trainer had two one of who was young with Lacy at the time she did obedience but she just goes to Jelly if she sees one even from across the park, it is a reaction that she does not have with any other large dogs. Although she prefers smaller dogs she will tolerate bigger ones if they don't get in her space but GSD's she literally hides behind my legs so she can't see them. I have always been curious as to why she would react like this but never been able to figure it out.
-
It can be scary when you see them display aggression when they have never before. It can take one little incident to affect a dog forever. One of my girls was attacked by 3 big dogs and it has affected her, I work with her all the time with other dogs but she is not big on other dogs at all now, (apart from her family dogs) she has a few friends who she is fine with but bring a strange dog into the mix and she will bare teeth and give signs to the other dog to back off, but she never follows through. But I am always very cautious of dogs we don't know.
-
What PF said to this, its amazing how many ignorant people there are in the world with no concern for anything apart from thier own agenda!
-
If you notice him displaying this this of behaviour 5 minutes is way too long, you sound like you have good instincts use them. Some people just do not understand dogs body language, she says "oh she won't hurt him" but Max is intimidated and left alone he coudl hurt her, people can be stupid especially when it comes to dogs. I would say No he wouldn't be in trouble if he bit another dog at an off leash dog park because thats is the type of risk you take going to these parks. And it is not like he is going up to other dogs looking for an picking fights, he just wants to do his own thing. You have to be the judge of whats right and wrong for him. I don't agree with the dogs will sort it out analogy, Dogs left to sort things out can result in serious injuries and worse.
-
Thats a great idea pity it isn't done at more parks.
-
I think Maxs reaction is totally normal, One of my girls is exactly the same, she has a couple of big dog friends (lab, rotti, vizsla) that she knows and is fine with but if a big dog comes up to her in her face sniffing etc, she doesn't like it one little bit and will let them know. We are very lucky with our dog parks where I live we have huge areas and if I see a large dog approaching I can put Lacy on her lead and she feels safer and more secure that way and I can stop other dogs getting too close or say to the owner please come and get your dog etc. It annoys me when other owners say oh my dog just wants to play, not all dogs are big players. Mine are very sociable, been well socialized from an early age and are quite happy around other dogs but none of them like dogs in thier faces. One of mine also likes the ball.... a lot but it can be a problem at the park with other dogs especially if they try to come and take it from her. Max is not the one with the problem, if he is happy to be in the park with all the other dogs around doing his own thing then thats fine but if the other dogs are too persistant and you can't find a happy medium then it makes it hard. You will always get others that don't supervise thier dogs and don't care what they do. I have found out that what you would think is common sense to some people is not to others. Common sense is really not that common. Oh and another thing is if any dogs get up in my dogs faces and I think it is going to turn into something I always step in before it escalates. Leave the park, move to another area, tell the owners etc etc.
-
I agree with PF on the bunnings pens, unless fully supervised I wouldn't leave pup unattended in one of those at all. All 4 of my dogs are the same cross as yours and there is no way any of them would have stayed in one of them unless they were asleep. What type of dog is your other dog? When I got Lacy (puppy number 2) I put her and Cooper together when she was 10 weeks old and she was tiny but I was really confident that they would be fine together unattended. This is why I knew they would be fine together Do you have any photos? I just read back to see that your older dog is 11, so probly not a good idea to leave them together unattended, unless you are sure the older dog can cope with a bouncy puppy.
