That's the thing too I definatley want this camera to be with me for a good many years and while I don't think I will go down the pro road, it would be nice to still be able to do the occasional shoot for someone else if I want to, and I definatley think the D7000 is capable of that if need be. I even shot a wedding once with my D80 I know crazy right, the people whose wedding it was were friends of mine and did not have enough $$ for a pro photographer, I did not want to do it and they said if I didn't they were going to give the guests throw away cameras to take photos with. So as nervous as hell and on a very bright day on the beach I went and took photos for them, I was a nervous wreck! I could never ever be a wedding photographer, you only get one shot at it, I just don't know how the pros do it! So nerve racking!! Anyway I took a lot of photos and got quite a few good ones that they were happy with so it all worked out ok but never again. I've also done some shoots of dogs for a few people at my obedience school and they were all wrapped with the shots, (mainly portrait style) So I think the D7000 would be fine if I want to partake in anything like this again. Can you see I am really trying to talk myself out of the D800. I really think the D7000 will do what I need it too. But on the other hand I don't want to get it and then wish I had of got the D800, see how fickle I am, I'm driving my self crazy!

Thanks Huga, I appreciate your input, I knew there was someone with the D7000 and now you have said I remembered it was Gapvic, hope she pops in. The file size is another issue for me, well I shouldn't say its an issue, I guess it is easy to get external hard drives to store files on, but the D800 is a huge jump in price and I really want to determine if I need it or not, I don't think I do, I am not planning on doing any shooting on a semi pro level and if I do it would only be for friends, work etc like I did with my D80 and I found the ones who I did shoots for were always happy with my work even from my D80. So I think a D7000 would serve me well for those occasions. The other question is do I buy body only or one with a kit lense, it comes with 18 - 105 which I think would be ok and maybe get a 50mm 1.4 or 1.8, I love my 50mm, probly should have kept it but sold it with my D80.

Thanks for the input, the sd card has a little half circle with a number in it, that number apparently determines the speed or class of the card, (not sure if thats the right explanation) Ah the full frame, yes I know that's the biggest difference and I think because I haven't had it that if I opt for the D7000 I wont know any difference. The D7000 is the one directly below the D300/700/800 and your right the D800 is a replacment for the D700 so already they have stopped manufacturing them and they are only available if there is stock left about in shops. How have you found the weight of the D700? I have a dicky wrist (3 breaks in the same spot) so the weight can be a bit of an issue depending on what I am shooting.

Hi Guys, I have another dilemma and I really cant make up my mind, I have been very fickle for a long while about my photography and now just deciding which way to go. In the interim, I sold my Nikon D80, it was a great camera and taught me a lot but I had been wanting to upgrade for a while. I did have a moment when I thought I might jump ship and go Canon as I really liked the 7D but The moment passed. I do think Canon cameras are awesome and will probly end up with a G1X in the very close future. I got a Samsung NX11 which was a great camera, some of you may have seen This thread and then This thread So the saga continued and the camera has played up for months and already been sent away once and they supposedly put a new motherboard and upgraded the software only to have it play up again a week after getting it back from Samsung. So I am hoping to get a credit back for it and not have to have a new one as I am really worried the same thing will happen again. If they give me a credit I will definatley get the G1X, as much as I love Nikon the Canon G1X in the CSC range is just awesome! Anyway in the mean time I am on the search for which is the best DSLR for me, I thought I would be able to make do with CSC but you just can't beat an SLR!! So I am tossing up between the D7000 or spending a bit more and getting the D700 or D800 I think the D7000 will be just right for me but I can't stop the pull towards the D700/800 I need some level heads to steer me in the right direction! Pros and Cons please, any advice would be greatly appreciated!! Another thing I am wondering is what class of SD card do you guys use? I just got a couple of class 10, I was previoulsy only using class 4. Pity I don't have a camera to use them in.

I was just in one of our local pet supply shops that now stocks the Black Hawk and the shop owner said she has had nothing but excellent feed back with Black Hawk dog and cat variety. She is wrapped with the responses from people.

I started my boy (8 year old Birman) a while ago, we have been through one 3 kilo bag and onto our second, he also eats kangaroo but I have noticed he eats a lot more dry than he used too, his coat is great and he has put on a couple of kilos which is fantastic, he was always so scrawny. He is doing fabulously on it.

Thanks for all the input, it's great to hear what other people are using! That would be great, curious, do you pack it up after each use? My hubby thinks if left out it wouldn't last long so would need To be packed up after each use. I'll have to get a quote from a plumber to get a hot tap outside, where I want to have it is right under our kitchen window so it shouldn't be too hard hopefully. Not sure on how expensive it would be?
-
how do you use it with hot water? or do you just use the cold, I found another one its the Groomers addition
-
Thanks HM, I remember that thread, probably even posted in it, might have a re read!
-
A booster might be a cheaper option, they look great, I would still have to get hot water hooked up outside which I needed to do anyway. Anyone else used a booster? Stories, the good the bad and the ugly!
-
I just did, something like THIS ?
-
Whats a booster bath? is it something that goes in an ordinary bath?
-
Good idea, I had a look at the Oz grooming world ones and they don't have any of the hoses attachments etc so that would all be an extra cost. Also the electric height one I don't think would be any good outside. My Oh is talking about making a shelter for it to be in but it would still be open at the front so many get some weather. Am I right in thinking with hydrobaths you only need a cold tap? and they need to be plugged into power as well? I should like a numpty but I have only ever used them to bath the dogs and never thought about particulars until now I am in a position to buy one. Id love a try blu one and they are actually made in the town where I live but Id need a cool $18,000 for one of them!

Thanks I'll check them out.

Hi Guys, I was hoping someone would have some ideas for me as I have looked around the net and not been able to find much. I want to buy a dog bath, not necessarily a hydro bath but a big bath. There is one at a pet shop in Melton which I think looks excellent and it is $1999, it is HERE Has anyone had/got/used one like this, or anyone got any other links to dog baths similar? We also have to consider where to put something like this once we get it and get a plumber to modify some taps and get a hot water tap put outside as well. if anyone has any experiences they want to share or other places to buy something similar to the one in the link, I'd love to hear about it. I am in Western Vic so anywhere within a 3 hour radius would be great, We could travel to Melbourne to pick up.

The name of that pet shop is high four, they have a web site it's www.highfour.com.au

The one with the puppies and kittens was in hoppers in a complex type of set up with a storage place and harvey norman next to it, cant for the life of me think of the name. possibly pets domain? I think this is it. I will look for card from other shop tomorrow!
-
Far out, that's crap. I was at a pet shop yesterday in Hoppers, and they have never had pets there before and wandering around discovered, puppies and kittens. OMG I can so see why people impulse buy! I just wanted to scoop all the puppies and the kittys up and bring them home with me. By no means does it make it right at all and I am not condoning it but the cages were clean and the animals loked happy and content, Im thinking perhaps hadn't been there very long. Also went to another pet shop (no animals) and the prices on some of their stuff was amazing, I will find the name of the place tomorrow (card in my wallet in the car) Im too lazy to do it now! They had a hydro bath, stainless steel for $2000 it was awesome and the prices of the crates were exceptionally cheap, the lady said she imports most of her stuff and it looked excellent and good quality.

Is there anyway you could at least get her to take a faecal sample to the vets so they could test for Giardia etc, with the earlier symptoms she had its possible she has some kind of bug and left untreated can be deadly. it is also possible or her to have Giardia or Selmonella and not be showing any symptoms, both of which can be extremely serious and it's also in the best interest of the people she is in contact with to find out exactly what is wrong with her. Hope she gets the help she needs. Have any of your dogs been sick after having Misty stay?

What Is The Age Difference Between Your Dogs?
tlc replied to Pretty Miss Emma's topic in General Dog Discussion
I have Born, May 2006, Dec 2006, June 2007 and Jan 2008 So current ages 6, 5, 4 and 4. I did a lot of toilet training in 2 years. The age gaps with my four have suited me all trained and found their own spots in the pack and are all great mates. I am guessing when mine all hit old age I might not be so pleased with the age gaps, but I think I will cope with 4 oldies at once! -
Congrats Huga, I can feel your excitment! Well done!!

I have had some awesome fun with light painting, I love it. Kirislin I remember that challenge it was one of my favorites! This was one of my favorite shots. Doesn't look as good as the original. I also loved doing light trails but you have to pick a good spot for it.

Have you been judged yet Huga? Or is your tomorrow?

About the light variety, it's my understanding that it won't be marketed as a "light" food instead it will be chicken and rice rather than the regular lamb and rice. I'm sure Sherel will correct me if I'm wrong but I think the chicken and rice have a slightly lower level of protein and fat. I have just opened a new bag and it looks the same as the others I have had although I noticed a few bigger red pieces through the food. I'm guessing from another food manufactured at the same place.
