I looked at some new food called Earthborn Holistic at pet stock the other day, just out of curiosity, it was their opening week and they had specials and trial packs etc. I had never seen only heard about this food so i asked the guy about it. he seemed to know what he was talking about and sounded very knowledgeable he said it was the number one best food on the market ingredient wise for dogs and was the bees knees. The cost around $80 for 6 kilos. I asked him what he knew about black hawk and he admitted he didn't know anything about black hawk but he called it a mid range food, his words "better than supermarket, but not as good as food like science diet, eagle pack, nutro etc" I told him I knew heaps of people who feed it and most have found it fabulous food. He certainly wasn't denying it was good food but he was really talking up this earthborn, probably because there is such a mark up in it. I told him a couple of mine were fussy with food and they all ate Blackhawk with gusto and he said "Im not saying they do but some dog food are covered in a layer of fat after it is made to make it tastier" I told him as the lady (Sherel) developed this food for her own dogs I did not think that was the case!! It is interesting the amount of talk there is about Black Hawk. Thanks Sherel for popping into this thread from time to time to keep us updated. Alyosha, I have all 4 of mine on BH and all doing well. My girl who used to have the itches (the vet thought from grasses etc) now has no itches. Two of mine are hard to keep trim and I find I have to feed only small amounts of BH or they put weight on. My guys teeth are probably not as clean as they could be but I thought it was more because they don't have enough bones. All in all I have found it great to feed.

Has anyone been to India gate? Went there for dinner tonight and the food was awesome!

Thanks Sherel, we think so! They are all going great guns on the food. Our local charges $80 which I am happy to pay, I'm guessing they will charge the extra $5 when the time comes and that's fine too. It still makes it a great food at a reasonable price for my lot!

It was great today to be able to walk into one of our local pet food stores and grab a bag of Black hawk, I grabbed a bag of cat food while I was there too, my Birman is thriving on it and even the old girl Holly (20 yrs old) has had a nibble and she doesnt do kibble anymore. Just posted this pic on Facebook and had a FB friend ask where I got it price etc and said how health my dogs always look!

My first 3 were a dream at night but my youngest not so much. He cried and screamed the house down for three nights, I tried putting him on the bed but he just wouldn't settle. So I got him a crate and put it beside the bed and there it stayed for a year, he is 4 now and still sleeps in it.

I think the biggest thing to steer clear of if buying int he states is food or treats of any kind, I know some gets through but there is every chance it can get taken by customs. I have bought lots of stuff from OS (USA and UK) I try to use pay pal if possible otherwise a visa card and never had a problem.

Wow I had no idea of the drama it could cause taking a reptile out and about! I'll have a chat to him tomorrow and see if he is aware. Yes poor Ccop has been better than I expected at the vet trying his best to please me by being on his best behavior but he definatley knew where we were going this morning and cried all the way there. He was even happy to see the vet who sticks the needle in! she did say the drain tube would be the next step if there is still a lot of fluid after the week goes by. I think if there is a minimal amount, less than this week I will take my chances that it will dissipate by itself. Is anyone heading out to petstock on the weekend? They have some great bargains for their grand "reopening"

Jj you need to build your self a big Reptile santuray where you can live in luxury with all your scaly creatures!! Are you having a stall/stand at the Mothers day night at Bunnings? Daz bought his snaky in the other day and a few of the team had a hold and a pat, and a few customers looked on in dismay. Poor Cooper had to have the fluid drained form the wound site and he is wrapped again, the vet is hoping for this to be the last time as she said there wasn't as much this time as there was last time, so fingers crossed we won't have to go back, I made an appointment but she said take the bandage off the night before and if it looks ok not to worry about coming in, otherwise we'll go again!
-
He does look a bit cute! How old is he? Does he live up to his name? do they make good pets? I mean can you pat and interact with them or is that a totally stupid question? He doesn't look happy in that picture or is he just laughing? I asked the guys at PS yesterday about the dog wash/grooming room and he said the dog wash wont be expensive and not timed, the grooming room will be used by a groomer to groom customers dogs. I asked about using the grooming room and they said they thought something could be arranged as they would rather see it used than empty. The manger is really nice and they all seem to "know" their stuff which is great. I'm off to the vet again this morning, fluid has built up again but not as bad as last time, so I'm hoping they we either leave it or drain one more time and that will be the end of it.

No races for me, we get invited by Sean's work every year (everything paid for) but we never go. also I have to work tomorrow as both the other guys from Piant are going. Today panned out a bit strange, cold warm, sunny, rain cold again, typical Warrni weather! We were going to do the million paws walk in Melbounee this year but We have made the decision tonight not to do Melbourne as I don't think CJ is going to be well enough with all the drama after his op. we think we will go to Sale instead as I was incorporating the MPW into my trip to my mums. I swore I'd never do Sale again as it wasn't much chop last time we went, so we are hoping for a better year this year. All very disappointed we won't be doing Albert Park lake as it is so awesome, so many great dogs and sights to see for us country folk. Some will aim for next year instead. I was going to go check out pet stock today but didn't get there, not sure what shops will be open tomorrow being a PH. Although I know Bunnings is open.

I just noticed down the bottom you can attach file but it can't be over 300k so I think that would rule out video.
-
You can use the insert image square, its the second one next to the smiley face in the posting window, and in there you pop your you tube link. Or perhaps you mean if you don't want to upload to you tube? Im not sure if you can directly upload videos to here like you can photos, Ive never done it. Sorry Im not much help.

Noooooo, you can't put this thread to bed, it's my daily come and check to see what everyone's doing thread. mostly there is nothing to read but I did like it when we were all more active here. Sad if it dies. I'm heading to check out PS tomorrow, Darren told me today he's been in for a look and it's quite good, huge and he said I'll like it it's got a big dog section. They know me too well!! I thought exactly what you said about the ABs and also thought it was strange the vet didn't agree with me about them, perhaps she thought I was having a go at her as the AB may have caused the infections? I dunno really but as soon as I noticed his red ears I put two and two together right away. I'm thinking the inner health plus tablets would have the same effect as the yakult, would it be over doing it to give him both? Might get some yakult tomorrow. Janet also said yogurt, I'm thinking it would have a similar effect as the yakult. Poor Coop he has been a picture of mystery tonight, cold because hes got a super short hair cut, sore ears and this dam stupid bandage around him that I don't think is doing much good as the top of his leg is all fluid again. I was happy to see him have a little tail way at one point but mostly he just gives me the sad eyes. he is fast asleep along side my leg as I type. I'll report back tomorrow with a petstock update. Daz also said it looks like they might be installing a dog wash too, seems like they are going all out!

I have been holding off going to pet stock till they are fully moved, I drove past the old store yesterday and it looks like they still had heaps of stock there. Are they officially open yet? I will have to see when i go past to work today. It has been quiet in here, whats everyone been up too? Mostly everyone knows my news through Facebook, Poor Cooper is still having a battle with this dam lump removal, they drained it yesterday and wrapped him in a big bandage, took him a while to settle last night he wasn't really happy but he is taking it all in his stride and looking at me with the big "what is happening to me" eyes. JJ have you ever heard of a dog getting an ear/ears infection after a course of anti biotics? I gave Cooper a bath yesterday as he hadn't had one since just before his op so a little over 2 weeks, and I noticed his ears were red and seemingly a little sore, I cleaned them with oti clean and asked the vet about them when we went in monday and without looking in them she said they did look red and possibly infected so to use the surolan drops for a week and see how he goes, when I asked her if it was possibly from the ABs she didn't think so? She said more likely water which is crazy as we haven't been anywhere near a beach and he hasn't had a bath and the redness is both ears. So my theory is the ABs have given him the sore ears, it makes sense to me. it happens to humans with yeast infections so why not dogs. So now the poor fella has two sore ears and getting drops twice a day. (he hasn't had trouble with either ear for about 5 years.) I also started him on some Inner health plus tablets, one a day.
