I had a quick squid in petstock today and I was amazed at the transformation, much cool stuff to check out. Ezy dog products, ( no one else sells this stuff in town) not a lot but still. Some nice doggy clothes, great toys etc. And the service was great! Also Prime is getting more and more stuff in all the time and it's a great doggy shop too, they have the range of awesome squirtz shampoos and conditioners which hasn't been around since the co op was open. A big thumbs up to these two oval businesses from me! Look forward to petstock shifting they might have a sale. 20% would be nice!

Hi guys just a quick question, restlessness in dogs and what it can mean, I just wanna make sure I'm not missing anything. My youngest Bron 4years old, has had a super restless day. My OH noticed it when he took him to his mothers around lunch time, he said he was fidgety, couldn't sit still, would just lie down and get comfy then up again. Nothing major and not stressy but just restless. I hadn't noticed anything earlier in the day as my older boy had surgery and once he came home the three younger ones stayed outside till my OH took Bron to his mums. He mentioned to me how he had been and suggested he needed a bath maybe that would make him more comfortable and settle him down a bit, a long shot I know but he was due for a bath so worth a try. I bathed him, dryer him put him back outside to dry off as it was nice and warm here today and noticed he was fidgety outside, going from bed to bed trying to get comfortable. I bought him inside and same thing, no matter where he went he just fidgeted, up and down, scratching every surface he tried to lay down on like as if he just couldn't get comfortable. We layed on the bed in the spare room to watch a movie and he fidgeted for about an hour then finally went to sleep. Put them all out for their final toilet stop for the night and he went into his crate, where he was just going nutty trying to dig his bed up, doing circles, and just plain fidgeting, so I got him out and he got on the bed with us and he fidgeted some more for about 15 minutes then finally and now is sleeping soundly. So my thought is pain somewhere? I have been over every inch of his body and nothing, ears fine, mouth/teeth between toes fine, his coat is not long at the moment so easy to check skin etc everything good. He hasn't had anything out of the ordinary to eat today but yesterday he had a piece if rabbit, raw which he has never eaten before. The piece was about the sie of a small chicken drum stick so not a lot. My OH thinks he might be out of sorts because Cooper isn't himself after his surgery but I think that's a long shot? Can anyone think of anything I might be missing as far as what else can cause restlessness? I'm hoping in the morning that he will just beback to his usual self and this thread can be forgotten about but in the meantime just thought I might be missing something.

Fantastic shots, you have captured some really great images! Love the one with the lady in the background and the seagulls looking like they are hugging. the socs dog was cute, but why oh why do people have their poo bags attached to the collar end of the leash? Am I the only one who gets annoyed by this? Sorry for the off topic. Love the seagull with his mouth open looking right at the camera and the little dragon with his tounge out, so cute!

So sorry for your loss, it sounds like you did everything to give him the best life possible. RIP big fella.

That's fantastic news! Hope she heals up soon.

This is why I leave my lot inside if I am not home. There are certainly some sickos in the world!! Hope they catch the scum, which they probly won't but an article in the paper and local awareness might be enough to scare them. She could pop up some flyers letting people know to be aware!

I'm popping in here a bit late but I thought of this thread yesterday while out at the park. I only had two of mine with me and we got out of the car both mine off lead, as I pulled up I had spotted a lab with his family at the play ground a reasonable way away from us. I like to survey the area so I am aware of what is about. As soon as mine got out of the car this lab came running at full speed. I wasn't worried as I could see by his body language he was friendly, he run up to Lacy who is quite small compared to a lab, she didn't see him at first then turned as he was sniffing her and just walked away from him, so he ran after Cooper, me still not bothered, the owners didn't care so I just started off in a different direction than the play ground. When Cooper seen the dog he was happy enough to have a sniff and says hello but the lab was persistent and wanted to play, he was in his face and badgering him to play and clearly Cooper didn't want to play, so he growled at him to back off (totally acceptable behavior IMO) and the dog did. It raised hackels and clearly not happy that Cooper wanted to go about his business but kept following him. I was getting annoyed at this point as the owners had done nothing to come and get their dog, we were out of sight of them by this time. Finally the owner came to collect their dog, calling him with no response from the dog at all. It could have been deaf for all I know. Anyway they took it back to the playground and tied it up so it left us alone. I can't understand if people have dogs that rush up to other dogs/people why not have them restrained. This is a scenario that i am met with frequently as we to to the open parks a lot. I have been lucky with mine, only Cooper will like to say hello to any dog but he is such a good judge, he runs till he gets some distance away from them then he sits and watches, If the other dog or owner displays any kind of body language that isn't right he comes right back to me, if the other dog and owner is happy he goes up to say hello, all under close supervision by me of course. I'm always wary, I've been bitten by a dog while stopping my youngest getting attacked, all dogs on lead and the owners freely admitted the dog has bitten before. also my youngest girl was attacked by a group of dogs, no physical damage done apart froma scratch but she hates rushing dogs she doesn't know and while she won't attack back she chases them away. Are dogs breedist? Mine are not a fan of bull breeds even though we have good friends who own Staffords. One they are fine with, run off lead and the other not so much, he is entire and very friendly but very dominant in his stance and kind of stands over them, which they do not like. So if we are all together they are all on lead. Unknown bull breeds and GSDs are two breeds that mine don't go anywhere near if we see them at the dog park, not even sure why as they we all socialized with both these breeds as young pups at puppy school then obedience. I could keep raving all day about different scenarios but I guess the bottom line is some people are not dog savy and or don't care about their dog or others and let them do what they like, they don't see what can potentially can happen till it does. To the OP I have been in your position with all 4 of mine on lead and a unknown dog came rushing up, it is a lot scarier if its a bull breed than if its a SWF. Either way it's not a nice feeling to be rushed at by an unknown dog. We pushed socialization a lot at dog school and told the clients that the more socialized the dog the less likely there is to be a fight around unknown dogs. Not sure that's always true but it helps. I know it has with mine, I consider them to have impeccable dog manners when with rushing dogs that have no manners at all.

Have a look HERE the second fear period for pups is between 8 - 16 months.
-
How old was she when you started obedience? Have you had her from a pup and did she have much socialisation as a pup. You have just described a friend of mines dog (a little younger) scared of anyone but his family but he has never been socialised apart from the odd visitor to the household. It sounds like you are doing the right thing in getting visitors to ignore her, trying to win over a dog that is timid/fearful is futile and generally makes the problem worse in my opinion. If this hasn't always been a problem she may just be going through a fear period and it could pass. I think there is a pinned section somewhere about fear stages etc, I will see if i can find it.

 Seen these on facey, just love the J mans expression in this shot! if there was to be a caption it would almost be from the photographer saying "say Cheese" and Justice saying "Cheeeeese" At the park today not sure what the thing in the first photo is above Lacys head, there was no clouds and I took the pic with my iPhone so I just don't know? week 15

I'm going to miss the photos of this little dude when he's gone to his new home! That new 'owner' sounds like he is not the right one and I think your right about the vets. Hypothetical question, if you were to keep him would you have to pay for him? Sorry to sound clueless, I have no idea how it works? Edited for spelling, also went and read your other thread and I'm guessing you would have to pay for him. The fees are phenomenal. You would think the vet wold donate his time for a rescue dog and only charge for the fax and chip etc.

Awww such awesome photos, I keep coming in here hoping you are going to say your keeping him. I know you said you wouldn't but OMG he is so cute and your girls just love him! They all look so happy together!!

Poor little poppet, bet she felt so much better once she got rid of all that matted fur! Some people just don't deserve the love of a dog!

Wow it would be awesome if you got a bigger shop, the clive peters space would be excellent especially if pet stock was going in there too, lots of pet stuff in one area! I had a customer in the shop the other day looking for something 'breathable' to keep her snake from getting out of a hole in its enclosure, I asked if she had spoken to you and she said yes she was one of your best customers. She works at the Lava st vet clinic. Another one by the end of the year, do tell or is it a secret? I guess if you shift it will be a massive job now that you have just got everything set up, how long you been open for now? Sounds like Killarney was much the same today as it was yesterday, I didn't enjoy it much but the dogs sure did!
