Why do you expect Vets to be the police?? That is not their function.

Electric Fencing... Or Another Option?

Build her a secure run with a roof. That way you know she is safe when you are not there. -
10 minutes is plenty of time for a healthy dog to eat a meal, if it doesn't it isn't hungry. 12 hours is nothing to fast them, if they don't eat the meal here they get nothing for 24 hours. Leaving food out all day just does not happen here.

How does mass desexing stop the killing of unwanted animals. The majority of animals that are surrendered to the pound are there because they did not meet the expectations of the owner (unrealistic or not) or because they are seen as disposable. If owners researched and chose more suitable animals or accepted that they simply were not in a position to own a pet then there would be less animals destroyed. Mass desexing does not stop stupidity, ignorance or lack of knowledge.

Every dog owner who breaks the leash laws hammers another nail in the coffin for dog ownership. The laws are for everyone, why do people think they are so special that they are exempt.

Some Breeds Less 'smelly' Than Others?
Crisovar replied to jacqui835's topic in General Dog Discussion
Double coated breeds that are not properly groomed out will get a manky smell. I think it comes from the skin not being able to breathe properly when the coat is full of undercoat that needs grooming out. Some dogs also start to smell very quickly after a bath if they are not dried thoroughly afterwards. The moisture retained in a heavy coat makes them pong again quickly. Diet certainly does play a part, but I think grooming does too. -

I have a GSD fed half raw half premium dry food and she does not smell doggy, although her breath sometimes smells like horse poo She is groomed once a week and bathed every few months. Could the inlaws STD Poodle have ear issues? that can make them smelly. -
You are entitled to your opinion, however there are many people on this forum that have had first hand experience with the RSPCA, they do not need to make up stories. The only thing vile here is the organisation that is being discussed.

Royal Canin Confused

How many stars a food rates at on some website means jackshit if your dogs don't do well on the food or wont eat it. Everyone has their own favourite to push but it comes down quite simply to what food your dog does best on. No use paying heaps of dollars for something your dog hates, the cat attempts to bury or your animals look lacklustre when fed. If your dog has no specific intolerances or allergy, read your labels, if you are comfortable with the ingredients and the price suits your budget give it a go. If the dog likes it and thrives, then you are on a winner. You will drive yourself crazy analysing and reading every opinion. -
Most of the reasons why have been covered, so many here have had negative experiences. There are never any inspectors available when phone calls about sick or starving horses are made, the number of horses that have died in their paddocks awaiting a visit is just sickening. It seems easy enough to gather a posse to rock up at a big dog show and try and find a few nasty exhibitors with docked dogs though The resources spent on media beat ups blasting breeders for tail docking whilst they beg for kitty litter and food for the animals in their care is quite something. Apart from that they simply smell bad.

How Do I Get Rid Of A Mouse Outside
Crisovar replied to newfoundlandandus's topic in General Dog Discussion
If I caught some bleeding heart releasing vermin outside my place I would be tempted to set the dogs on them. We are experiencing a huge influx of cane toads after such a bumper wet season for them, maybe we should just relocate them to friendlier neighbourhoods too. -
Yep, it can really turn them around too. Must add that there is a bit more to Parvo Nursing then just cleaning the cage the animal is in. Barier Nursing is critical and should be practised in every case.

Nope not everyone if you read all the posts.

This is the time of year that the little beasts are looking for nice warm places to spend winter, our homes are just what they like. They can eat the wiring, invade the pantry, leave their dirty little messages everywhere. YUCK! -

Sadly they are not the only group that has no understanding of quarantine and other issues. It is like some competition to see who saves the most dogs regardless of the risks. -
I'd either collect the dog personally, or fly it in a BRAND NEW crate, never a hire crate, still a risk but a decreased one. eta I'd also not fly a pup unless it was fully vaccinated and at least 10 days after it's final vacc.

Do they need to be ANKC, or AKC before anyone can like them, find them attractive and wish to own one?? There are a few breeds overseas I really like, I do not however have the cash to bring one in.

This is all reminiscent of the arrival of the first Shar Pei into Aus.

A well nourished, fit, healthy bitch can easily manage to whelp a litter yearly with no problems, I don't understand the issue with that.

Any and all of the above. It will depend on what pound, who you know and who may be willing to help. the question has to be asked, doesn't Queensland have enough stray animals of it's own? Of course it does, I cannot work out why they transport animals from another state. -

How would you suggest solving a mouse or rat infestation problem then Mr Humane? Apart from asking them nicely not to eat the car wiring and making their homes in the stove insulation, what would you suggest? -
Exactly my thoughts twodoggies2001 Tinned food is takeway for dogs. Dogs are not 'designed' to eat cooked food. As you said breath and overall body smell is so much sweeter . My Lab is thriving on Raw meat & bones, Fish, Fruit, Vegies & natural yoghurt. Again, no one is advocating feeding tinned food as a sole source of nutrition. We eat lots of things we shouldn't too, maybe someone would like to start a thread on the crap that owners eat.

Dogdaze no one has made a mission of trying to shut down this group or send dogs to their deaths, we simply wish them to rescue responsibly. Saving everything you can without having the protocols in place to do it safely for everyone is misguided and irresponsible. People are on this forum because they are dog lovers and they give a damn.
