Nerdy nerrrr GR Hope Trixie didn't get up to mischief! That made me laugh out loud! You have no idea how much I would prefer to LIVE in my bed never mind early mornings!! I just have to force myself or nothing would ever happen! :D I make things happen here too, just not til late morning onwards I am dreading obedience trials from now til the end of the year, all shows/trials have now been moved to daytime! I like my night time trials Not only for the sleepin factor, but Ruby and I just hate working in the sun!

Yet you're on DOL instead I can't laugh, its a Friday night and I'm sitting here on my laptop watching the Lifestyle channel thingy on channel 72 At a guess, my Saturday night will be pretty similar!!! Girls we all need to catch up for a drink one night - I know we love our dogs, but we have to have a night out KID FREE!!

I have some metals that are knurled and some that are not. I have been training on the "slippery" ones but really should get my other set out and give them a go and see if they can pick them up easier. I actually have 2 full sets, and an extra set of metals as I was training scent for the first time when I bought the second set and thought the extra set of metals would help with training so I could rotate! Had them for over a year now and they have never been used I air my other ones out though obviously. I think the real test for my girls is if I get the brand new set out and see if they are still as successful. Seekback article is like a rolled leather article, but not sure if you can use something else as the article or not. It gets dropped on your heeling path behind you and then your dog has to go back and find it by scent (or sight!)

Noooooooooooooooo, I don't think I can take it! Indecision KILLS me! OK, one little peek won't hurt.... So did I, more nawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwws! *sigh* Do I really want another Goldie? Maybe I should just get a Setter? YES! You should get a Setter so I can have lots of puppy cuddles and still get my Aussie one day :D

I saw your video but I am so clueless I needed to see how you scented the articles etc, would like to give it a go but we need to do it under guidance of someone who has trained it before, after all I dont want to be teaching the wrong thing Where did you get your articles Rubystar?? If you come down on Monday, I'll do scent with Ruby and show you. Or you can go watch the pros do it down there too :p

I won't be there tomorrow. I'm going carpet and tile shopping instead I figure if I'm not planning on doing tracking this year then there is probably no point in coming I'm quite content sticking with obedience and agility. And I've just realised why :p Neither require me to get up at insane hours of the morning and head out to the sticks to train or compete like tracking and retrieving can do!

I don't often feel in the position to give much training advice because my own methods are very hap-hazard! I need to be taking advice from everyone else it seems ;) However, I can have a think tonight when I'm home as to how I would approach it. Might get in trouble if I sit and ponder training methods while at work! Would love a job where I get paid to do that, though!! ;)

It's a bit hard for me to avoid the computer during the day, I'm a programmer I can however avoid the computer at night, but, that's too hard I have had to learn how to use my left hand on the mouse as a result. I am going to have to go and see someone about my aches and pains, but as usual, anything to do with my health I can never find time for

Should work now Also want to apologize for the yucky room we're working in, it's the last room of the house to be renovated still Half a painted wall And I've noticed how much more excited I am working Millie, probably because I unfairly expect more from Ruby. Mental note: give Ruby some exciting sessions, too! Though it doesn't seem to phase her, they both wait at the door willing it to be their turn!!

Yes good thing it wasn't your back, a sore back isn't fun. I've screwed mine up somewhere along the line and get awful backaches and neck/shoulder aches. And too much computer is giving me arm and wrist aches!!

As I promised myself, I did some scent tonight with the girls. Ruby is rather reliable in picking the right article, though we haven't practiced in a long time so her confidence has dropped off and sometimes she is picking up an article before she decides on the correct one. And there is room for a lot more improvement in her technique and delivery Millie is VERY ENTHUSIASTIC in this game! She dashes out and sniffs them so loud that I am sure the neighbours could hear her *SNIFF SNIFF* She was getting the right one but is also picking some up in her mouth before she decides on the right one to bring back, so she still needs some confidence and practice in this game (she hasn't done it many timese at all). Then I pushed her too far and she started playing "snatch and grab" with the first article she came across instead, so we canned the game. Naughty me I was doing it in lino, and the metals kept rolling, so then I had to improvise and do a few rounds on a dog bed I got some video, will upload when I get a chance in case anyone is interested (probably not )

Way to go valley and Tobylarone!! I want to start teaching weaves soon, as soon as the weave bases are ready But no rush though, because I have soooo many other things to teach and proof

I'm inspired to do some scent again tonight!
