Gosh I hope you're cooking those sausages before hand if you're eating them That's why I use hotdogs, precooked :D Love my dogs, but not enough to cook them sausages to last all week for training
-
The supermarket had no 4Legs or Chunkers all last week that I could find, due to the blackouts and them losing their fridge stock. So I had to train with these dry little treats you get in the dog food aisle (their price has gone up like 200% since I first used them when Ruby was a pup!) My girls still screamed yes mum, please train me even with those!! And I was doing learning type stuff with it, too, like scent discrimination! Ah, the beauty of having Labs!! Try BBQ sausage, Mason loves it more than anything. He isn't keen on 4Legs. I buy the sausages bulk and split them up into 2 or 3 for the freezer. I use hotdog sometimes. Last night's menu was hotdog and cheese Mum commented that I could go and snack if I didn't feel like training the dogs :D

Oops, I totally forgot!! Hopefully she'll be there tonight :D Wanna borrow a Lab? That will show you a food oriented dog in no time

Can I move in?

Is that why everyone who does obedience etc videos themselves to see what they are doing right and what they are doing wrong? For me, yep, that and to keep a diary of what we do to look back on, and to also share training successes with fellow training enthusiasts around the country on DOL ;) It's also nice to have a link handy demonstrating something that someone else might be having trouble with. What better way to learn than by watching! Candice, where is your video!! We wanna see!! :D
-
So where's the video then!!!

She's awesome Ptolomy She's even got a nice present happening Training tonight felt like pulling teeth, I don't like nights like those :D

Crossing everything I can for you

Maybe an English Setter will be a dog for me when I retire ;) I know they have the tendency to be mischievous pups just like any other breed, but they look nice and calm when they grow up and oh so gorgeous At times I contemplate getting a black Lab in the future to round out my set, but thinking I might try something new. Labs will always be my #1, though

I'd be in that! When we were in NZ we went to a wildlife park that also had a flying fox in the kids playground area, I so wanted to have a go. Later I split up with the others so that I could go back and get a couple of shots of the Tiger and they started placing bets on wether I was really going back to have a go on the flying fox. I did contenplate it as there wasn't anyone on it at the time, but envisioned getting myself stuck up there as my back doesn't always allow me to do the things I want to do. Might have been too embarressing having to call for assistance. Not that any one in my family could laugh at me for trying, my Dad who's 81 this year still likes to hop on the escalator handrail to ride down when he can get away with it and I'm sure he was tempted by the flying fox too. ;) So is it any wonder these things temp me, it's in my genes. My mum, dad, sister, her hubby and their kids went on a cruise late last year that went to NZ and at a stop somewhere they found this flying fox in a playground and they ALL had a go on it, photos and all! I wonder if it's the same place? I love flying foxes, would love to find one of those massive ones you can take off a cliff or something!!

Puppy Testing For Dog Sports
RubyStar replied to bedazzledx2's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Want Ruby? I always swore my next pup would be a laidback one as Ruby has been a handful, but you know what, I actually want another just like her! The cheeky one who is into everything, at least then they find training one big game and just really want to be there! I'm probably not going to get another Ruby if I stray from the Labrador to another breed, but the closest I will get is ensuring I pick a very outgoing one that is a little bit naughty ;) In the end, it's all chance anyway right? That and actually knowing how to train properly, which is where I still lack -
Whenever you want is my answer I did leather last with Ruby (metal followed by wood followed by leather), but for Millie I went wood followed by leather followed by metal I think. Probably because I had no expectation Millie would actually get it, I was just mucking around, but she sure surprised me

Yeah that's what I said! Oops! Those puppies sure are cute! Is anyone keen for an impulse meet at Piney Lakes later? I'm bored and don't want to do housework i'm flexible with the time and duration I'd normally say yes, but actually have a few things to do today :D
-
Woohoo that's great news DSO!!! Rivsky, did you get your round on video?
-
I'm a big kid at heart Nah I don't mean I want to investigate to use the equipment (though I do love the swings :D) but I wouldn't mind checking out what other stuff there is and I didn't get to see the lake last time Edit: 101 tyres sounds like fun for all ages
-
This place sounds great! I've been there obviously but haven't seen all this stuff! Maybe next DOL meet we should go investigating a bit more? :D

Where did you go this afternoon?? I would have sooo come with you, LOVE puppies lol! I am going to be so clever with my next pup when I get him one day and start the training early, i have learnt so much with Mason so the next one will be a The breeder I met at K9 put me onto her friend who breeds under her prefix coz she had puppies - I went to meet them and put my name down with them for their next litter, and to see their current puppies. You would have loved it Candice! I didn't want to come home! :D Nawww I would have come to have puppy cuddles too! Is this a friend of the woman you told me you met when you came down to see us after agility? Edit: you answered this above

I got Millie a bit too soon to count her as my second dog I could pass my "knowledge" onto.... but I really hope I do better with my next!! I did learn a bit with Ruby though which made teaching Millie a bit easier, but I can't wait to get a puppy in a few years time

Some people I met at Riverside put me onto Piney Lakes! Shame it's a bit further away from me otherwise I'd go there more often! It is a good spot for DOL meets though! :D Yes, I want a dark puppy..... like the colour of the Mum or darker....... need to bide my time Foxtriever I think we need another Piney Lakes meet, love that place too!
-
Oh wow who's are they? I think he is gorgeous, I personally love the light coloured ones but I know you love the dark ones!
-
LOL!! Dougal was so funny when he gate crashed that party!!! If any of the dogs are going to pass for guide dogs in training its my boy, on lead he is not too bad and at least he is a lab, with a guide dog harness on he would look the part.. :D When I've been training Ruby, I've overheard quite a few people saying something about a Guide Dog I've had this training Ruby on walks, and when I've had her up at the shops to do some distraction training.
-
I'll take him!! What did he do? Or should I keep reading the thread to find out?
-
Congrats! You always do so well
-
Woohooooooooooo way to go, River!! :D So just one more to go for the title?
