So how many dogs do you actually have in your CoG residence there ST? ;) I know you have the 2 ES and 1 Wei, and even though the OES rings a bell, it didn't occur to me you had 4! You go girl, you tell CoG where to stick their rules!!!! :) If he can do basics like sit and drop, advanced beginners will be fine. I chucked Millie straight in there, bypassing beginners. I was even bored poopless in beginners with Ruby and she was the first dog I'd trained. I'd taught her those things in her first week home But I guess it's more about the socialisation

Whoops, forgot to comment on this part. You can teach the retrieving for obedience without the need for gundog type retrieving. Having taught Ruby the dumbell in obedience actually helped me in retrieving, she was able to retrieve it and bring it back sitting in front of me holding it But if it was threw too far and she didn't see it land, she would keep looking back at me for guidance. I know if I had kept it up she might have had a good shot, but I lack time and motivation! And teaching her not to drop the dummy and shake the second she comes out of the water first seemed just too much work for me

He is so cute!!! YES! Mr Hesp, that's it!! Ewwww how could anyone want to have a fling with him He gave me Dux in English though, so he wasn't too bad I'll check my emails, I think I might have it as I still get emails that are sent to the retrieving club members, even tho I'm not a member! If I can't find it, I will let you know ;) Thanks.

Hmm nope sorry don't remember him! I'm not sure if Ms McKenzie lasted past our year 8 class, hopefully she did! She provided endless entertainment! The poor kids in my class gave her a breakdown I think. Bugger what did she teach again... what's the class where you learn about planets and stuff? Oh man how dumb do I feel right now? Does it scare you that we can now say we'll be 30 next year?! Even though I'm yet to turn 29, it still freaks me out cos by rights it's true!!!!!!

Hi Gilypoo, thanks for the info!
-
OMG what was his name... the English teacher who always wore short shorts and sat with his leg propped up on the desk Umm not sure - I wanted to give retrieving another go this year (I got too busy last year), but I don't think I have the time or motivation to go far enough with it. I'm still concentrating on obedience and may even do tracking with Millie. Who knows, maybe I'll go Have you got details? Gotta leave work now - will check back with the other posts tonight. This thread is getting lively Took a good whinge from me to get it started again though

I train with Southern River too, though I don't do classes anymore. Graduated in 1998... eek I'm feeling old!!

City of Bayswater has this on their site (as do many other councils, I'm sure): Go COB!! COG -

Try Stratton... Where that? Just next to Midvale/Midland.. also near Janebrook. ohhhh.. I drive through Helena Valley everyday to work... well near it anyway I drive Snott Street/Helena Valley Road Wow I wanna live on Snott St - what a cool name!
-
Agreed... 'tis why I said my piece to say Thornlie is not that bad!! I hear reps about Gosnells and Armadale, but unless I live there to assess it for myself, I won't pass judgement I went to Thornlie High too, ST - I wonder if we knew each other? What year did you graduate if you don't mind me asking?

How stupid is that! Pretty sure Bassendean has it's own council. It's smaller than a "city" so they are Town of Bassendean. But then again, I don't really know much so could easily be wrong
-
Thanks, guys
-
I was actually first looking to relocate in that area, but then found this house. Ideally I want to move to Bassendean, which was where I almost ended up. So if anyone knows if Town of Bassendean allow extra dog permits, I'd love to know!
-
We are saying that because it appears the City of Gosnells are the only ones who are STRICTLY 2 dogs only. But if there are any other councils in WA who are as strict as this one, then I agree that it shouldn't just be restricted to CoGosnells people for our idea of DogsWest leniency, in a perfect world it would be a good idea for ALL council areas that have pathetic 2 dog laws!!
-
TOTALLY agree, here!! We don't just leave our dogs in the backyard, some of us partake in many dog activities with them, being responsible DogsWest members. They definitely should introduce some sort of leniency for DogsWest members. And as Amypie said, you'd think they would be leanient with us cos the CAWA grounds are in their freakin' council area!! Doesn't make sense And yes they are basically saying we have to wait until our beloved pets kark it before we can get another to pursue our chosen sports/hobbies. That makes sense to encourage good dog ownership
-
Thanks! Would be interesting to know why they are such d*cks!! See now City of Swan have the right idea. Pay a fee, have ranger inspect property, ask neighbours, pass all that, hey presto, you can have your 3rd dog! :D Congrats on the house RS! I used to live in Kenwick for 5 years and my brother lived in Thornlie. I actually think they are great suburbs if you're in an OK part. They're not too far from the city or highways or the train. We built a house in Forrestdale and moved there but I still miss some things about Kenwick (Like it's proximity to the airport when I have to make a 5am trip ) Glad you had fun camping RosieFT! Sounds like Rosie had a ball (actually I bet she had lots of balls ) Yeah bad joke. FWIW Thornliegirl, I used to take Kyzer to Applecross vet (I work in Applecross) but didn't find them that great for a pet owner. I think they're more of a breeder vet, repro and all that. I use Vetwest in Canning Vale and I'm quite happy with them really. Haven't had a bad experience yet anyway. My house is a 5 min walk to the train station, brilliant! I use VetWest Canning Vale too, fairly happy with them, except for the fact I paid them money to have Millie's microchip registered and they have failed to send the paperwork in! As soon as I get off my lazy butt, I will be going down there to give them a piece of my mind! Charging me double than it would have to send in the paperwork myself direct to AAR, and then not sending it 6 months later!

Cost me $500 to have Millie flown from Canberra to Perth (on her own). Certainly not a cost effective solution, but they get the $$ cos it's the only solution!
-
Yep I'll be there! I would register it at the parents house. No way am I letting the council rule my life!!!! Whether anybody views it as sad or not, the dogs are a MASSIVE part of my life and I can think of nothing better than having another addition when the time is right But I'm hoping to move house to another council area when the time is right for me to get a 3rd. I was merely enquiring today out of curiosity, it's not that I want the 3rd RIGHT NOW! Well ok, I DO want it right now, but like I said, I am a responsible dog owner and recognise that now is not the right time in my life to get that addition (and the council is not that reason!) :p What council area are you in moosepup, just out of curiosity? I would love to start finding out council areas that actually do issue permits for additional dogs if they meet the requirements. I'm just appalled at City of Gosnells for not even assessing anybody, merely stating tough biccies!!!
-
Thornlie doesn't have that bad a rep! No more than any other suburb surrounding it. I'm actually currently in Forest Lakes, which is nice. I heard good things about Applecross vet, good Labrador vet there, but I figured in an emergency it's too far to drive so I stuck local
-
How exciting! New puppy! Which vet are you going to? I'm in Thornlie, too. You can carry your pup around before vaccs, just don't put him on the ground until all vaccs are done (and then I think you need to wait a week after the last one? Can't remember exactly, it's been 3 years since my last pup). I wish I was scary enough to go down to the council about 3 dogs. Knowing my luck they'd just fine me on the spot for having 3 (not that I do yet!) jazzyrules, I too would love to move to the hills! I think they still have the 2 dog rule but I reckon they would be easier to get an extra dog (or two) permit for if you have a few acres? I only just bought my house and moving in this weekend, so I will be stuck in City of Crapnells for a few years at least. But when I do eventually move, I am investigating council areas that offer permits for extra dogs!!
-
Did they have to pay a fee or apply for a permit or something? Or simply had a ranger come? It might be slightly different if under Armadale's council. City of Gosnells suck big time. I'm sure if I called or went in to have a whinge, they'd just ignore me. I think it should be assessed on a case by case scenario. Or be sensible like NSW, no restrictions on dog numbers as long as they are well looked after and not a nuisance. Don't punish us all before hand in some sort of precautionary system to protect residents from ALL dogs that are quite obviously going to be neighbourhood nuisances (SARCASM TO THE MAX!) I know some people won't agree with me, but each to their own. This is something I feel passionate about and it upsets me, because I am one of those responsible dog owners, being punished for the morons out there who aren't as responsible!

Do you know which council area that is in? My guess is she hasn't registered them. I won't dob anyone in with extra dogs, cos I think the 2 dog rule is extremely unfair! But if they are causing issues then that's another story...
-
If anyone is interested, City of Gosnells are a crock of sh*t. Here is an email response I received after enquiring about the process one would need to take to get a 3 dog permit: An absolute disgrace There's no limit to how many kids one can have and the brats over the back fence scream in the backyard on a daily basis, yet I can't complain to council about them? My dogs are quiet and are kept indoors at night causing a nuisance to noone. I'm absolutely livid at their policy. This is why so many people don't bother registering their dogs and willingly break the law. How dare they rule how many "kids" I can have, I choose the furry 4 legged kind over 2 legged skin ones and that should be my prerogative!!! Rant over, but still furious ;)
