Let me know your address through PM and I'll send you one of my special rabbit fur tugs, haven't failed getting a dog to tug yet. Oooh how much would one of these tugs be and are they really that good? I have started agility with Millie, and she absolutely REFUSES to play tug with me. So I have to utilise the squeaky ball which is all she's crazy for, which isn't ideal because playing with her for reward involves her chasing the ball and running into paths of other dogs

I want, no, NEED more i-squeaks! Can I be in on the mass order?

Looks like a lot of DOLers are training with SRAODC now I train on the bottom oval so I won't get to say hi unless you're down that way Sorry Nick for not knowing who you were :D

Yes I am, they worked their little booties off Even when I utilised the distraction, I got some very lovely heelwork from Ruby. When we got too close, she did turn her head to look at them, but didn't run off! And you know that's what she would have done 6 months ago!! After a perfect change of positions last week, it seems Ruby lost her sit last night. Repeated this morning for her brekky and was standing closer, and she still looked at me like Funny how they know something one minute, act like they've never been taught it the next :D Oh and I know this isn't the brags thread, but for the first time I did scent with the girls away from the house/backyard, and they did it! Though it still needs a yuuuuuuuuge tidy up, the present is an absolute shocker But the main thing was, they picked the scent out in a new place with distractions, so I was happy

I got some lovely heelwork tonight, too If we're advertising for things to buy, I'll love to buy a working SFE please. First trial of the year is this weekend then 2 weeks after that is the Classic, and I still don't have a working SFE! If I can get some heelwork in the trials like I did in training tonight and we still fail SFE, I'll still be a happy camper

I don't think the obedience has to be perfect, they just have to indicate that they aren't too buggered to listen to you I think Where is Champion Lakes? If you feel like training Kyzer for the ET, let me know and I'll join you with one of my girls for a ride!

I got to meet Lincoln tonight ValleyCBR had no idea who I was, but I knew who she was by her puppy In her defence, we had only met once briefly at a DOL meet

I've often come away thinking that was utter crap work, then watched it and went OMG, that was actually pretty good!

Agility Nationals Perth 2010
RubyStar replied to RallyValley's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Yep. I use to do obedience there. I recognised 'Cassie' . I'm hoping to come back later this year when I'm ready to start proofing before our first trial. Off topic, but did you end up entering the Western Classic? -
Anyone in Perth doing it? I'd like to do it with one of my girls, but wouldn't know where to start training wise! Plus, I seriously lack time as it is! If anyone in Perth is doing it and wants to train together, I might be pursuaded I could use the exercise Edit: If anyone wants a spare dog to do it with, you can train and enter with one of mine

I have a sit stay for sale... it's not necessarily functional, but it's still for sale
-
Your judge sure liked giving you a helluva lot of slow and fast pace! I think you got less normal pace in that! Sorry to hear about her breaking the down stay, but I think they should get extra points if they remove themselves from a scary situation and put themselves back into the down stay

Good luck with that trade-in, ness

Thanks Tassie. I'm not sure how else to return around her if I don't take a step to the side so I can walk down her side and back around? *goes off to watch a bunch of CCD obedience videos* I just sort of diagonally step forward and to my right to go around the dog for CCD returns. I don't think I have any CCD trials up on my youtube page to demonstrate what I mean. You could probably take a very small sideways step as you move forward to go around her, but the step back that I saw in your video I would can ASAP before it becomes too much of a habit and you accidentally do it in a trial Edit: I don't like making comments on other people's videos because I don't think I'm in much of a position to do so seeing that I am still learning myself, however, I did notice in your videos that when you do about turns, you are stopping to wait for Daisy to catch up to you and then starting to walk again, and that first step is always a big one. I would make your first step coming out of the about turn a smaller one to give her a chance to catch up, but make sure you don't stop, you have to keep moving!

I'm in love with Dante

Does Ikea count as a doggy activity? Dogproofing the yard further on Sunday, though
-
What happened in the agility video? How come you called her off the A-Frame? Besides that, I didn't think it looked too bad ;) Like amypie with not knowing good from bad with obedience, I'm the same with agility

OMG OK there is no way that Scout is a Lab if the same cover has lasted 2 years Deals Direct sounds quality! I've been tempted to buy from there many times, haven't yet and not sure I will now
-
well ... to make up for it today, I bought me a new dress, a new belt and a juicer. Nothing that Archie can sleep on. I bought a juicer for the dogs to make their raw mince/vege patties.... it's still in the box I think most juicers are bought with an ambitious mindset to get healthy (the humans!), then 9/10 juicers end up stuffed in the back of the cupboard

It says your 2nd video is private

Zug Zug, do you have access to a video camera and have yourself a YouTube channel? You should video some of your training so not only you can see how you're doing, how you're progressing and see what you need to work on, but the more experienced people here can have a look and give you some feedback on how you're doing and some tips on how to fix things you are having issues on
-
Yes this makes sense, thanks

So how would I work this in reverse? Millie is much better with signals than she is with verbal commands. I still can't get her to stand on just a verbal (then again, I haven't been working on correcting this ) I can pretty much do signals heelwork with Millie and she does it (without distractions of course ) Ruby works better on verbals. I can give her a verbal commands for things like sit/drop/stand in quick succession and she nails them. If I give her just a signal, she looks at me like "umm was I meant to do that? Because I didn't hear you give the verbal command, too!" Which is obviously something else I need to work on! Gotta love dogs that give you opposite things to work on

I didn't realise yours was a Santa Fe! I've got the Hyundai Tucson which also has the rear window functionality you desribe, which was a huge deciding factor in getting my car I was going to keep it open for trials so Ruby can see out, but I find she doesn't relax because she's too much of a stickybeak, having to sit up and watch everything that's going on. So now I leave the whole thing open and now I find she lays down cos she can still see

I spent a good portion of last night trolling puppy ads and websites and ogling over the cute puppies. Weird thing is I am not even ready for a pup anytime soon I think I just like torturing myself I've got a few years of torture left yet as the puppy thing is many, many years off :D Part of me wants one so bad, but the bigger part of me knows that it would be a stupid idea. I hate being sensible
