  1. Depending on age/breed/temperament/yada yada, 2 dogs can actually cause more worry leaving them alone than leaving just one alone. Sure they've got companionship, but they've also got a partner in crime. I find my two egg each other on, when just having Ruby she'd just sleep all day! But then again, yes I do own 2 Labs (and wouldn't have it any other way!)
  2. I'm worried about Ruby's "public immaturity" as well, to be honest. I say it as public because at home, she is the proper little lady, so calm and reserved - total opposite to her public self I think it only fair I do tracking with Ruby seeing Millie gets the agility, but I still don't know
  3. Can anybody come down and get measured or do you have to be part of that club? Is this an official measurement by judges? I'm so confused with the measuring - I basically want Ruby measured soon in preparation for Open obedience (if we ever get there ), but it wouldn't hurt to get Millie measured at the same time. Oh and thanks!
  4. Depends if the agreement we discussed is still an agreement Have you picked yourself up a copy of the Canine News lately to pick a trial?
  5. I thought the book was coming to me? Amypie/valleyCBR - please let me know where we can get our dogs officially measured! I need to get mine done sooner or later (Ruby sooner than later if possible). Thanks!!
  6. Oh, comeone Rubystar, you can still sleep in on Sundays We could always take the van and share petrol costs. I hate getting out of bed early on weekends too but it isn't a long season and I think it would be great exercise for the dogs and us. Did some practice with Jenna tonight as we hadn't done any scent work for a while, started with a toy and then went through my food cupboard looking for something that might be good to use. Found some old infussion teabags which worked out great, that way I had one to give her the scent and one to hide and it was something she wasn't previously familiar with. She was a good girl and found it every time. How long is the season? And what is the start time? Sat mornings, eh? Sigh! Maybe I'll come to the information session in Gosnells (if I don't forget! You may have to remind me!) and I'll decide then. If we travel together and share costs I guess that would make it a bit easier My biggest decision though will be, which dog?!?! Millie already gets the extra activity on top of obedience (agility), but it's actually Millie I had in mind for doing tracking before getting into agility with her. I like sticking with just obedience with Ruby, she's my obedience guinea pig and I like doing everything else with Millie. Decisions, decisions!!
  7. Great videos, Ptolomy!! I actually think Scoota's face is the priceless one! He's like "huh, what? ermm ok mum, but you do realise we're doing agility right now don't you?"
  8. Sorry I have no idea what are good ones to watch! Hopefully someone will be able to tell us
  9. Stacked photos are nice but so are puppies being puppies photos I wanna see his gorgeous little face
  10. I want to work from home, so I can keep my babies company all day and then I might also be in a better position to get dog #3
  11. Haha, that'd be nice, then maybe we could convince them to let us bring our Labs to work ;) I've been working on my boss for that one for a while. He knows I'm Lab crazy and often tells me stories about his son's Lab I've been able to take my girls to the work Xmas BBQ twice now but its just too hard to get them into the city when parking is outrageously expensive ;) And my girls are too hyper to pass them off as guide dogs in training to ride the train
  12. Any vacancies where you work? There might be when they catch me on here
  13. That's great, Dova My teensy brag, is that on my first session with Millie to get her to play tug (C/T for any interest in it and building on that), she seemed interested in the tug and touched it a few times with her mouth
  14. Kirsten, how rude of me! I forgot to invite you over to the Labrador thread - http://www.dolforums.com.au/index.php?showtopic=108730. Lots of Lab chat, photos and advice in there, plus general banter
  15. I think Kalgoorlie would be closer for me ;)
  16. Aww, you're too sweet I attached a pic of him, in my last post. He's such a beautiful dog and it saddens me that he's spent most of his life left in the backyard ignored ;) He's a beautiful boy! Would love to see his face. I'm sure if you come along on Sunday then I'll get to see him better I got Millie after she started her life the same way, except we suspect she was chained and muzzled in the backyard to boot She was rescued from the pound by Lab Rescue with muzzle marks on her face Besides her having a touch of separation anxiety (well maybe more than just a touch!), she is a beautiful girl with such a loving nature. She loooooves people, just doesn't like strange dogs in her personal space until she knows them, then she's sweet as pie ;) A bit vocal at times, though
  17. I will give your "little fatty cakes" big cuddles, and I am sure Ruby will be in love
  18. I still need my girls measured - the official measurements taken are recorded for both obedience and agility, right? Gosh I hope my girls aren't required to jump 600! Fingers crossed for 500, as I don't think Ruby could handle jumping any higher, she has enough trouble as it is!
  19. So when's your first trial? Thanks for the link and I may take you up on your offer to borrow the book - thanks!!
  20. Depends on how much you're selling it for Otherwise I will take up Amy's very kind offer and borrow hers! I have a few agility DVD's already, but I found they don't play in my DVD player, just my computer, so I'm going to have to re-burn them somehow to get them playing on TV! I'm sure in a couple of years I will feel like it's less daunting, but right now, I'm very very scared! ;)
