She sure is We just need to rearrange her social calendar to allow her to do a bit more training Oh and help her finish rennovating Once she gets over the SFE hurdle she will get some nice scores on the board Whaddya mean my social calendar? Dog stuff IS my social life!! I will and do drop practically anything to train, I don't know if that makes me dedicated or just plain sad!! Was that an offer to help come and paint my bathroom and sleepout and tile the laundry?? (on a side note, the electricians quote this morning came in reasonable so I've gone ahead and booked him in - so moving should be happening in January, woohoo!!) Ruby can throw some brilliant work out when she wants to, so I have no doubt that once us as a team pull it together, especially with the SFE, we will be able to pull off some nice scores. It might be a few years off yet as we both get more ring experience, but I know we can do it!!!

That sounds so cute! Did you get any of this on video? I agree they can surprise you. I've taught Ruby things and then think there is no way Millie is going to get it, only to be proved so wrong that Millie picks it up quicker than Ruby But generally, Ruby is easier to teach new tricks to.

Thanks! I was in two minds about putting that video up, because of the embarrassing oopsies moment that is in true Labrador style But that aside, she gave me some nice heelwork If only she could pull off the same amount of focus in a trial that she does in training. She was rather distracted last night. Was still a pass in the heelwork, but certainly not at a standard I can say I would be proud of and strive for. But again, the SFE is the failing point. At least we got round the figure 8 poles without incident She actually gave me some good focus around the figure 8! Ummm, I may not be the best person to send Kenzie to, I would end up ruining her Ruby is very unlucky to have me as her trainer and handler! In the right hands, I just know she'd kick some butt! Thanks I'm determined to get a decent SFE next year!

When Scoota gets knocked off top spot for your best trialling dog, he can come and live with Aunty RubyStar Well done Beans! And Scoota! No brags here from tonight :D Can I add to the gloves is a stupid exercise chant? Mine is STAND FOR EXAM is a stupid exercise!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Especially when different judges do it differently. Read that as, I need to proof the SFE with all sorts of people and styles! (and clothing! I'm just waiting for the day when we meet that hat and boots in the ring )

Are you coming to the Perth DOL meet on the 20th? At Riverside Gardens I think. Me and my girls will meet up with you sometime in the new year if you can't make it down to the DOL meet if you're interested Ah next Sunday, yes I should be able to make it. What time is everyone meeting? I'm actually not sure, but there is a thread about it we both might need to go and check

Only a year. Tonight is the last obedience trial of the year (I believe? unless there is one down south or up north - or out east!, which I don't care to venture to! ) Ruby has her CCD title and now we're aiming for her CD title. Oooh I'm not sure about going on a day when it's going to be majorly overrun! We'll see

I've got an obedience trial Friday night if that counts at all

Thanks, Tiggy Being new to training and trialling, I am very proud of her WA State work (I'm assuming that's the video you're referring to  as all the other are lousy )
-
I don't have much on there, but will endeavour to put more trials up in the future if they're worthy of being displayed to the public http://www.youtube.com/user/bingaling81

I had all intentions of memorising heel patterns prior as best as I could, but didn't in the end as I figured it would probably just mess me up more with anticipation - much like a dog who is too smart for their own good, knowing the exercise, anticipates and fails :D

Croydon's Obedience Trial

Jumping on people must be worth the effort You can even tell the difference in the way she carries her weight from when she jumps up on people (geez she sounds like such an untrained dog, really she's not THAT bad!) but when she does jump up in her excitement, she will bowl you over by putting all her weight on you. Millie can do the same, but balances her own weight if that makes any sense.
-
Have you tried the high hand touch during your heelwork? A little bit. Ruby is very, not sure how to put it, it's like she's got tape stuck to her feet and she doesn't bounce/jump very high without a lot of effort! My other one does high hand touches while she heels, I think she was born with springs in her feet.

Congrats biker girl! Rally-O sounds like fun! Way to go, Ness!!! That is really great, woohoo! You must be so proud! Yeah SFE is a bugger, especially for wigglebums, but last night I just worked on heeling her around her biggest distraction (anything that moves ) and she did it well Though I want to work on more oomph in her heeling attitude as she tries to overcome distraction!
-
The Associates rule is a fairly new one, so there may still be unsteralised associate dogs competing. Ah ok, thanks, didn't know that!
-
Thinking positive isn't my strongest point, but I'll try  And TRAIN, TRAIN, TRAIN!!
-
Do you remember the first lot of stays we did with you? Oh boy ;)
-
And you forgot to mention that she also did stays as well and didn't move a muscle when I walked past ;) That she did! But she got up when the other Lab ran off
-
Do Associates still have to be vetted? They've gotta be desexed to be on the Associate register, and under Sex on the certificate, it says something like N/A which really is an insult to the poor dog. Just cos they've lost their bits, doesn't make them an "it"! :D Ruby is on Limited register and desexed but I still get her vetted - there is no way around it is there?
-
:p Congrats luvsablue!! That is some achievement My small brag (well no, BIG for Ruby) is that Ruby didn't jump up on Ptolomy, her most faaaaavouritest person, a single time last night at training! I was heeling her around her practically touching her and the most she did was sniff her leg once We had to think if Ruby was actually feeling ok last night :p She's more "uppity" when she's distracted though, gonna need Ptolomy to jump around like a loon for me next time instead of being a static post No different than usual though, eh? :)

You'll do good, Tiggy! Don't worry Come over and say hello as well! I'll be there with Ruby and hopefully Millie if I can get our act together I've got one more obedience trial left for the year, but not expecting great things as Ruby is still a work in progress
