Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. Arty, if you get time, I'd love to hear your solution too ;)

Anna - I could just kiss you!! That is EXACTLY what I'm after, and your hubby works for Hyundai so even better, woohoo!! I will PM you details ;) Thanks!!

May I ask how much it was, including installation? PM if you wish, or not Have some good news - took both girls to training tonight and left Millie harnessed in the back of the car by herself after tightening her harness once more. Come back and she's still in the harness in the back where she should be, woohoo!! So maybe a cargo net will be all I need as long as I make sure that harness is nice and tiiiiiiight!!! (she doesn't need to be able to breathe, does she? )

That's what I'm doing. A lot of people are of the opinion you can lose more points in the dumbell than in the COP, and I can see why! So give you and your dog the best chance of losing less points -
First Time In Obedience

That's awesome! Can I ask which breed? I would like to give showing a go one day with a future puppy, but obedience will always be my #1. I say do as much as you want with your dog if you have the time and inclination to do so! -
Thanks for the responses guys, but unfortunately a crate is not an option. It won't fit properly with having one Lab in a crate and one not, and my crate is too heavy and awkward to lift into a large car on my own (I'm not the biggest of people). A soft crate will not contain Millie either, she would try to break out of it in her panic. Never mind the fact that it would take me an age to get Millie to jump into the car directly into the crate. She's slowly starting to like the wire crate, i'm playing crate games with her, but in the car, can't see it happening anytime soon and I need a barrier ASAP. TSD, yes Millie does need more work She's a rescue girl so has some issues I haven't been able to sort out when a pup like I have with Ruby, as Ruby is pretty calm to be left on her own (but not without the occasional impatient whine ) It gets hard to train Millie to be calm in the car when it only happens when I'm away from her! I found the Milford safety net after seeing your picture and there is a mobile fitter that actually just lives around the corner from me! So I may give him a call, but just want to see if I can find anything that doesn't have a gap on either side where Millie is bound to come through

Sorry, another one of those cargo barrier threads Hope someone can give me some advice! I am in need of a cargo barrier or cargo net for the back of my Hyundai Tucson, to stop Millie from getting over the backseats from the cargo area. I even harness her in, and tighten it, and she still somehow manages to squeeze out of her harness in her stress of me leaving her in the car briefly and I return to the car to find her on the backseats (or in the driver's seat!) I need something that can be easily removed from when I want to cart non-doggie cargo, so a permanent cargo barrier is out. And the size of my cargo area isn't huge, and it needs to fit 2 Labradors, and from what I've seen, cargo barriers tend to start at the floor and takes up the precious space I need for the dogs comfort. I found this cargo net which seems ideal, except for the fact that there are gaps on either side. Millie is still bound to jump over the seats through this gap Can anybody think of any solutions for my situation? My car is a similar shape/size to the one pictured above. I thought harnessing in would be the solution, but it doesn't restrain Millie enough. She jumps around in a panic if I leave her in the car by herself. She's usually fine if left with Ruby. I need a solution ASAP, so I hope someone can help!! Thanks!

COP in Novice is always the same - drop from a stand, then return to your dog. -
No trialling brags here, but I'd like to have a teensy brag about my Millie. I was practicing scent discrimination with Ruby at the beginning of the week when I thought I'd have a play with Millie to see how she'd go. To my absolute surprise, she caught onto the scent game almost immediately!! At the end of that session, I had her picking out the right scented wood article! I did some more work during the week on it and tonight after practicing the full set with Ruby, I thought I'd push Millie and just see what happened with her and the full set. I'm gobsmacked - less than a week since I introduced it to her, I have Millie working a full set and getting it right!!! She's having a bit of trouble with the metals and she doesn't do the present yet (as she's not there yet either with the dumbell, is a work in progress) but she's picking out the correct scent for me by picking it up in her mouth and coming towards me with it, she just drops it on the way Sooooo proud of her as I had sooooooo much trouble teaching scent to Ruby at the beginning of the year! Hoping to have some Ruby brags in the future, working on her distraction and focus big time before she enters anymore trials. BIIIIIG thanks to a very lovely lady here on DOL for her help TSD - Congrats on Ziggy's great results!!! Can I please ask where you got your cargo barrier from? It looks like it attaches about seat level(?) which would be perfect for my car! I need to stop Millie from wriggling out of her harness in the back and "seat surfing"!! Edit: I've taken a closer look and can see yours is a cargo net, but that would still work nicely I think for Millie! How did you attach it to your roof? That is currently the problem I am having with the cargo net that came with my Tucson, nowhere to attach it to the roof. Hope you can point me in the right direction

Congrats, that is really great news!! Way to go Annabelle!

Congrats to Danni and LP! Way to go, guys!!

I'd be interested if a seminar was held in Perth

That is great, well done to you and Daisy!! I think Millie must be part Beagle  She's hard of hearing when her nose hits the ground!

I've been talking to Ruby about her "sad looking tail" :p
-
Yes thank goodness he came good!
-
Ruby's tail is looking much better this morning. Still not 100%, but almost there!
-
So sorry to hear that Fingers crossed for a speedy recovery!

OMG I only just read this (don't come into this forum much). I am soooo sorry to hear about the diagnosis Biggest of hugs to you and your family. I know cancer is such a big scare, my girl just had a cancerous growth removed so now I am on cancer alert myself

Thanks, guys. I opted not to head out to training tonight so she could rest up. I trained my other one indoors and she wanted to join in so I did a bit with her afterwards too, so she doesn't appear to be bothered by her tail. She is now napping on her bed by the heater From my quick google research, I found that they can get cold tail either by excessive exercise or being cramped up in a crate or something for too long? She didn't get much exercise yesterday and none today, she did however sit in the back of my car for a few hours at an obedience trial so maybe her tail didn't have enough room to stretch out, causing it to swell a bit being in the same bent position for a bit of time.... I'll just keep an eye on it
-
I had heard about "cold tail" before and thought it could be this, so just googled it and symptoms seem to be the same. Poor baby! Though it says they recover in a few days... has anybody experienced cold tail and is it something to worry about?
-
Has anybody's dog had a swollen tail before? I just got home from work and first thing I noticed was Ruby's tail wag to greet me was different. It is sticking out about 10cm or so and wags and then it just droops to the floor. The base is feeling warm and larger than normal, though when I touch it or gently squeeze it she isn't flinching. She is licking it a little bit underneath near her bottom so it must be uncomfortable, but not painful. I've rung the vet and spoken to a vet nurse to ask if they've heard of it before, but she couldn't picture it and said I could either bring her in now or wait and see what it's like tomorrow. Because she's not in pain, I've opted to see what it's like in the morning and decide then. I was hoping someone here had come across it before and can give me advice. Thanks :p P.S. Ruby is a Labrador if that helps, but I'm sure you could all see that from my signature pic ;)

This I completely understand if your dog gets up and stands over another or gets in its face, it isn't fair, but LC's dog simply rolled onto its side. A dog next to Ruby was rolling around on its back having a good back scratch in the down stays once and I thought it would be bad luck if it caused Ruby to break but just something we need to proof further (for those who know Ruby, it is a miracle she didn't see that as an invite to play and actually stayed put! :p)

No laughing here, well done!!! And poo to that person She now knows to proof her dog's stays better for dogs next to her that roll onto their side I think you mean LucyCharzie
