  1. Good girl Cider!!! She's such a star and will kick bum in her UD debut! I put Ruby through her second UD runout tonight and she is doing well Missed her metal article and I opened my mouth with HEEL! in signals but the rest is coming together. We started signals heelwork again and she heeled nicely We'll be giving it another go to tomorrow under trial conditions for bedazzled's exam - best of luck bedazzled!!!!!! :D
  2. Just watched your video, Vickie. I plan on doing this with Pippa and going back and doing it with Millie. Did you entirely shape the behaviour? Or how did you do it? Looking for ideas on how to start them both on it.
  3. So the dollar isn't in our favour anymore?
  4. I'm going to go crazy on the Kong toys. Love them but are so expensive here! I have told both my sisters to take a look and get things for their dog/upcoming puppy, and will show mum tomorrow! My sister is going to buy my kids a Kong Wobbler each for their Christmas present ;)
  5. From my understanding - if you miss a jump, it is a DQ because you went off course. If you miss a jump and go back and redo it (and the dog hasn't taken another jump or obstacle instead causing it to DQ by going off course) then if you go back and do it it is a refusal/fault and you end up with a NQ. Because I don't have anything riding on it, I don't care if I DQ or NQ, to me it isn't a Q! So I will try to do whatever will keep my dog's motivation up
  6. Generally its a Labrador x Golden Retriever...or more commonly these days...a golden labradore You get some who think you have a cross when you say you own a Labrador Retriever. There are a fair few out there who don't realise the full name of a Labrador Retriever! But I never actually say I own Labrador Retrievers I own Labs, good enough for me!
  7. Check the item description, sometimes they say to please allow them to choose the colour for you.
  8. You guys are terrible with your multiple orders I haven't completed my order, yet. Will probably do so on the weekend!
  9. What I've never understood is when people say they have a Labrador X Retriever. I've heard a few of those! So I tend to ask them if they have a Lab Retriever X GR or ?
  10. Wow, see, learn something new every day! While I've never said or heard anyone (besides on DOL) mention that people say rockwheeler, I honestly had no idea that the W in Rottweiler was meant to be pronounced with a V! And yes, I think I will feel silly using a V so is it bad manners to continue using a W? Never heard anybody (with an Aussie accent at least) use the V sound!
  11. Actually, I think only 1 of them would be open to crazy Labbie water fun. Millie would probably stand there being the fun police, too scared to jump in! Ruby would probably be a bit worried to jump in at first but once she discovers she can, I foresee many bombies Maybe I need to find myself a spare 30 grand and get a pool put in
  12. I recently heard from amypie (OP) how this breed name is meant to be pronounced, and I would bet there are a certain number of pure breed enthusiasts that still don't know every dog name under the sun and their pronunciations. So instead of laughing at people not being able to pronounce it and leaving it at that, maybe take the opportunity to perhaps educate some and tell us all how it is actually meant to be pronounced! I have been exposed to a lot of different breeds since being on DOL, but some of them I wouldn't have a clue on how to say until I have heard someone say it in real life. For the rarer breeds, such as yours, there aren't many opportunities for people to hear the correct pronunciation in real life Out of all the posts you could possibly chastise you pick on the one that clearly indicates I've tried to educate the people involved and they refuse to believe the correct pronunciation? I spend my life trying to educate people about the correct pronunciation, it's odd that you would come to the conclusion from my post that I don't. I don't take offense when they get it wrong, but I do find it amusing when they think I'm the one in the wrong! No intention to "chastise", yours got picked out because of the breed name and my recent experience with it. I was merely stating that I heard it said in real life only about a week ago and was surprised at the pronunciation (so much so that I don't think I'd be able to repeat it!), so thought it might be an idea if you maybe told us all HERE how it is pronounced! Because your post didn't specify. Had I not heard it spoken the other week, I would have read your post and gone "oh, that's how I would have said it, but now I am still none the wiser on how it is meant to be said!" I have no doubt you educate people in real life, but your post had the opportunity to educate the many reading this thread. Your choice I guess if you want to take it Sorry if you felt chastised.
  13. He used scent articles for the side thingies...... I need to show you

  15. So sorry to hear of all the trouble you're having, mirawee
  16. I laugh because yep that is what happens!!!! I'm sure she will pull it all together for the trial, or come pretty close ;) What are you using as uprights for your solid jump? PVC pipe or wood or metal? I'm hoping to use PVC as I already bought the pieces to shove it in the ground. Edit: just saw your next post - come on share with me, what did he do and can I put my hand up for one?!
  17. Well they will happily be your wet photo models if you can convince your OH I would bring brightly coloured toys to encourage fun action shots
  18. If you can help me with attaching side thingies to mine, I will give you 2 free jump cups Edit: my first attempt at a solid jump a couple of years back involved electric fence posts and very thin plywood. FAIL. My next one is still using plywood but its a bit thicker. Would prefer a more solid wood because it bows a bit if not kept flat! Now I just need to be able to attach the board to my uprights!
  19. CC  Let me rephrase then, I don't know anyone with a pool that would let me and my hairy dogs swim in it
  20. I know, mine does! But I want a POOL, you see! Not the beach, not a clam shell, but a fair dinkum' backyard below ground pool so Ruby can do some bombies
  21. Great shots!! Sounds silly bit I reeeeaaally want to take my Labs to a pool where they can jump in and be looney, just to see how they might enjoy it, but I don't know anyone with a pool
