  1. Pet Plan is different to Insuranceline's Pet Health Plan
  2. After having my pet duck savagely mauled and murdered by a dog, don't think for a moment that I wouldn't shoot that mongrel if I got my hands on it. It's not always the cost of what the animal cost you to purchase it in the first place. Daisy was given to me, so technically she cost me no money. I am what you'd call a farmer, so am I a wanker for wanting that mongrel dog dead (The dog would be dead if I got my hands on it BTW). Sorry to seem pissy about it, but this is the exact mentality of our neighbours whose dogs used to be constantly out. My dog got mauled by their cross bred dog (dragged out from under her own fence while she was defending her boundary), few days later Daisy and several other pets had their yard invaded and they lost their lives. They "replaced" the ducks killed and paid Gypsy's vet bill, but what no one ever thought of was the psychological trauma Gypsy went through. She was never the same after that attack Dog-owner - I'm sorry for your loss. The way he ended this is way over the top. Sorry for your loss but your not the only one that has ever had an animal killed by a dog.I have had plenty too but it doesnt make what he did right.Becuase you owned a duck your a farmer?Having your dog attacked is a different story.Like I said they are just chooks and chooks to me arent pets they are Sunday roast as they are to most farmers. Its not a big loss and I have lost plenty of them over the years but I dont cry about it.I know dogs will be dogs. Now if a dog strayed onto my land where my dogs are and attacked one(they cant becuase my place is dog proof). They wouldnt have to worry about being shot becuase my dogs dont tolerate strange dogs. I didn't say having a duck makes me a farmer. Running my farm makes me a farmer. Just because you don't give a damn about what happens to some of your animals but that doesn't mean all farmers are the same. ETA - The dog that killed my ducks was the very same dog who mauled my other dog. So maybe people should take this a little more seriously.
  3. We had two kelpies. Bess was around 21 when she passed away in her sleep. Tiny was 17 and had to be PTS due to kidney, liver and heart failure

  5. There is a working dog school that happens in Gresford. I haven't got the details with me but Gresford isn't too far for you, PM me and I'll get you the details once I get home.
  6. Citronella colour would be fine to use, I never had any success with one (my dogs love the smell), but you might.
  7. Thanks Chezy - It was wonderful to meet you and your clan, they're all beautiful :) Thanks so much for fostering her, honestly, you have no idea how much this means to us :)
  8. She's definitely not an escape artist :) I've emailed AWDRI and PM'd them as well.
  9. I have her penned because I have one girl who hates Priya. Priya's never done anything to her, but she's taken a distinct disliking to her. I can't pen the older dog as she has incontinence issues and will carry on all day. Priya's fine with fencing etc, I let her out with my mothers dog when I'm home, but I can't leave her out with him as I don't trust her with my geese or ducks. I'll talk to a couple of groups, maybe AWDRI would take her in their group with you as the carer... I'll see what we can organise :)
  10. Here's some photos of her tonight - Sorry about the darkness but it was late when I got home.
  11. I hope they've put a sign under Abby's photo that says, 'This dog is a horse. Got it?' :) LOL I'll have to ask Paul, I know they picked on the poor cop who pulled me over. For a while everytime he told his supervising officer (I think he was probabtionary at that stage) that there was an unrestrained dog a car, the response was something like "Not a horse like last time I hope". I know they ask Paul how Abby is going and when her next "adventure" will be (I think they want to pull me over again lol).
  12. That is a fantastically funny.....& cute.....story! :) i bet all the police officers, armed with the pics, could hardly wait to get home to spread the tale. Apparently Abby's photo is pinned up to the bulletin board at the LAC. My friend was bragging that he knows "the crazy chick" who owns the "dog". Anytime I've seen my mate he asks me what animals are in the car today
  13. I don't know exactly how housetrained she is - she does pee herself if she's frightened or uncertain (she's a big puppy). I'll probably get there lateish as I have to work until 1ish then I'm meant to be going and checking a horsefloat out (I might try to postpone that until Sunday) Which grounds at Hillsborough are they? I don't know the area very well lol ETA - I'm sure your yards would be fine - by the sounds of it you've got dogs similar to Priya, she'd stick with them fairly well I think :)
  14. Chezy - I'm not sure on the crate training, but I did have her crated her at work when she first arrived to me. She whined for a little bit then settled. Priya seems fine with all sorts of dogs, she is submissive if they tell her they're boss. She's honestly very laid back personality wise, she just wants someone who can play with her and someone to love her. If I wasn't away from home 12 hours + a day, I'd keep her myself, I'm devastated I can't keep her, I feel like I'm letting her down. I think she'd like the travelling and such, and honestly I think she'd make a great agility dog. I took her to herding when she was 6 weeks old and she had a ball. My co-worker taught her at puppy preschool and said she learned very very quickly and apparently loved playing the games etc that the got to pay. With the potential homes, I think we'd be able to work something out. I'm sure there are people on here who could do yard checks etc. I can bring her to hillsborough grounds on Sat night/arvo if your interested :)
  15. Blue Collie - I'll get some photos when I get home. I've only got her puppy photo currently. Here's her puppy photo (1 week old). This photo is just to give you guys an idea until I get her updated photo this arvo when I get home. She does have slight tan on the inside of her back legs and is a bit lanky now.
  16. Poor cop, he must have thought you were out of your tree till he took a proper look at Abby. LOL - I felt bad for the poor guy. I told my best friend about it (he's a highway patrol officer too). He rang up the poor guy and told him that I was his friend etc. The cop told my mate that he honestly thought I was on drugs cuz "What normal person has a horse in their car?", My friends response was: "Her!" I have been pulled over by that cop since, first question when he spotted it was me was "Where's the horse today?"

  18. When my dog Smooch was a pup, my neighbours were convinced he was a joey (He's a smokey kelpie). When I purchased his sister Paige, same neighbours thought she was a baby wombat! I've also had a policeman mistake my mini foal Abby for a dog. He had pulled me over for at an RBT site and spotted her sleeping on the back seat of my little excel (she was coming with me to work for x-rays). After the standard questions, he asked me if my dog was restrained. I told him that it wasn't a dog it was a horse, but yes she was restrained. I was asked to get out of the car and was asked if I had taken any drugs recently. After telling him no, the poor guy went and got his co-worker and brought him over, by this time Abby had woken up and was looking at all the comotion. Both cops thought it was hilarious that this tiny little pony was in a tiny little car (and she was wearing a dog rug). Next thing there's all the highway patrol cops from the 4 marked and 2 unmarked cars taking photos of Abby. I'll never forget that day, funniest thing I've ever had happen to me.
  19. Eleni - Priya doesn't have a pet rescue link as I'm not affiliated with any rescue any more. I'll take update photo's of her tomorrow when I get home. Priya is a typical kelpie pup, a little boisterous when fresh out of the yard, but very well behaved once settled. Panto - I'll have photo's tomorrow :) Thanks :)
  20. OMG That is so funny! I like the new "design" of the pitbull LOL
  21. Permoxin every day sprayed all over - works really well with the cream Smooch makes me use on my guys.
  22. ^ Agreed I'd only switch to an senior food if my dog was gaining too much weight because of the higher energy in the adult food.
