  1. Sending positive thoughts your way :) Fingers crossed.
  2. :mad + 1. Must be very disheartening to see that kind of response when you are genuinely trying to help a needy dog. I can understand this posters thoughts though - someone new on the forum asking for funds straight away within their first few posts. Esp with the amount of scamming going on these days. To be honest, something like this was running through my head until one of the DOLer's I'm familiar with said this was legitamite. This post was very hurtful to those who have been busting their boilers to raise money to help this dog. What some people forget is that there is many dishonest people in the world which makes it hard sometimes to see when people are being honest in asking fordonations. Heck there was a thread recently about someone using a well known DOL users rescue ads to try and scam money. Take a look from it this way. A new members FIRST post is asking for donations of money. You know nothing about the poster other than what they've told you in their post. To me, without knowing what we now know, had my alarm bells ringing. You can't blame people for being on the defensive in these circumstances. Maybe DeadWombats post was a little harsh, but I can see both sides, and initially had similar thoughts. My post was not meant to be hurtful or upsetting (I think it's mine being refered to in your quote TrishM???) if it was, then I apologise to the OP. It was Deadwombats post that I was referring to, it was very harsh and uncalled for. I do understand that there are dishonest people in this world and it is a sad reflection on society today that we feel this way, but the fact that donations can be made to the Vet concerned should allay any fears that anyone may have. The Vet involved in Jess's care has been so caring and generous, it is enough to restore ones faith in human nature. Thanks for clarifying that :) Big for Jess and everyone behind her care :)

  5. The brand popantel has a tapewormer only tablet out. Some vets carry that one :)
  6. my friends dog pee'd on me once to try and mark his territory (our best guess anyway), I promptly scolded him and he has never done it since to anyone else :)
  7. My animals are always refered to as my kids. They are treated as the species they are, but they are spoilt and loved. I don't have kids, I did however hand raise my Abby (mini pony) from 2 days of age, which was very much like having a newborn. Up every 2-3 hours for feeds, toileting, cleaning etc. If any of them was to ACTUALLY be my child, she would be it.
  8. I haven't had this happen to me, but have had a client whose dog suffered this. Dog was a large bred, older girl. She had the surgery, but unfortunately it was too late for her as it had spread. She's still alive but is on a lot of meds and her quality of life is getting less and less. Its a very bad situation *hugs*
  9. Our stray sheep that is here atm has been nicknamed Pancake (crossed a highway to get to our place - many many trucks travel that road so if he'd been hit he would have been a pancake)
  10. We recommend MINIMUM one week at both vets I work at :)
  11. If you wanted to worms, heartworm and fleas all in one, Panoramis could be worth looking at :). It's made by the people who make comfortis.
  12. I would be shot by my vet if I offered Sheep Ivermectin as a wormer or heartwormer. It's not something you should play around with. There are cheaper brands that can be used that are safer.
  13. I have a client here at work with a dog called "B***h". She decided to name her dog that as she is a long time client of one of our vets who calls the dogs in by their name, rather than the owners "Ie: "B***h please". Probably the funniest name that sticks in my head :)
  14. I had the issue of a barking dog on our farm (our farm backs onto residental houses). I've since built her a yard half way down our property so she can't be heard. She's got a muted bark so this has worked for us. Our neighbours commented that I'm louder than Rini is (when I yell at her) but that they aren't worried as they are hardly home. We've been blessed to have such nice neighbours :)
  15. People tend to giggle when I tell them my girls name is Serenity-Jayne. Apparently a long name for a little kelpie is hilarious I like her name tho so thats all that matters.
  16. I wouldn't either. I've had two patients that have had reactions to splitting chew tablets. The drug isn't evenly distrubuted. I wouldn't risk it
  17. I'd be hesitant using cartrophen in a dog that young.
  18. If it's a greyhound spelling/rearing facility, the owner of the facility doesn't own the dogs then does he? I would be really peeved if a greyhound I owner was at the facility and I found out somehow that he/she was being used in someone's experiment. Those dogs are bred for making money, not for being experimented on - informally or formally! I'd be beyond furious with both you and your boss for treating my animals to an experiment when I'm paying for them to be reared or spelled.
  19. Another vote for PAW product here. Also adding straight fish oil to the diet (PM me if you want the proper dose rate :) may be off benefit and isn't very expensive.
  20. You can't keep chooks etc locked up 24/7. Free range birds should be safe on their own property. Rural laws state that the owner must have suitable fencing to keep their stock on their property. If you have one strand fencing that keeps them in, then by law thats all you need. I spent huge $$$ dog proofing my top acre paddock to protect my flock of geese and ducks, no matter how dog proofed (electric fencing included) you can't stop a determined dog. After my ducks were attacked last time, I locked them up for weeks. It wasn't fair on them and as much as I wanted to keep them safe in their pen, it was kinder to them to let them have their free range day time back.
