  4. Yep i use it and will keep using it until they no longer exist. i know there have been supply issues but honestly it hasnt effected me being able to buy, as Robbos seems to always have the size and flavour bags i get whenever i go there. I get the chicken and the lamb HS and my dog does amazingly on it! ive never had ANY problems with his skin and coat, in fact i always get commended on it. so i will stick to it until i no longer can
  5. im located in Mulgrave if thats anywhere nearby? (its near glen waverley/mount waverley/springvale etc)...happy to help if you're interested. heres my website if you'd like to look http://divinedoggrooming.com.au/
  6. my dog LOVES them but then ALWAYS throws up a few hours later...needless to say he doesnt get them anymore!
  7. tomato paste. NOT tomato sauce (that has onions)...paste...doesnt have onions...only a small amount, say about 1/2 a teaspoon, daily, you will see results in a couple of weeks. it cancels out the acidity in the tears which is what makes the colour in the tears.
  8. hi there, ive heard Rally Obedience is a fun sport to do, and im really wanting to get into it with my dog. Does anyone know anywhere that does this in Melbourne (vic)?? any help much appreciated! Thanks in advance! :)
  9. Dogs not use to eating bones will throw up little bits of bone to start with until their system adjusts, this usually leads to people believing that a RMB diet is not suitable for their dogs, but if continued the dog adjusts within a week or so. When my dogs first started on RMB diet I had this and almost changed my mind until I researched further and realised that there was nothing to worry about. By the way a RMB diet does not mean that the dog gets lots of bone, just a proportianal amount to what they would get if eating prey. Also I do not give weight bearing bones like marrow bones(ie beef legs etc) as they are teeth breakers. RMB I think would be better than smoked bones for teeth cleaning but I don't have any experience with smoked bones. Even just adding a couple of chicken carcases a week to a medium sized dogs diet and cutting back on the other food accordingly would be beneficial. Ive been giving him bones forever, hes now 4.5 years old. He used to get bones every few days, maybe once of twice a week, but he still throws them up the next day. He doesnt react to chicken carcasses (he gets them too), but for some reason, raw bones tend to make him sick the next day. I dont know what to do about it really besides just not feeding him raw bones, which is a big shame cos he absolutely LOVES his bones! Any suggestions?
  10. where do u get your roo tails/brisket bones? are they ok for dogs with sensitive stomachs? my 4 year old heeler is just starting to get some plaque and tartar build up, but i need to be careful what bones i feed him as he always throws up the morning after eating bones, even though i thought it was related to the fatty ones, i am very careful not to give him marrow bones or bones with too much fat on them, but he still throws up. Do you think the roo tail bones would be better for him, and where would i get them? are they the smoked bones you get from blackdog etc or are they actual raw meaty bones? thanks!
  11. You can get these from Robbos Pet Barn
  12. has she had any injuries that would cause scarring? ive found when a dog has had severe matting or any injuries, it causes scarring and that changes the colour of the coat if (and when) the coat grows back...
  13. best thing really would be to get her to the vet...
  14. $50-$55 is the standard pricing for small dogs like Malts...dont change your pricing just to accommodate 1 crazy person or they will all expect it!! If you're good at what you do, people will come! I once had a person ring that said i was too expensive as she only paid $35. I told her thats fine, get your $35 then bring it to me and ill fix it for $55 lol...she came to me and is now a very regular customer who has referred many people! So stick to your guns! Dont cheapen yourself because people have a misconception of the amount of time and work that goes into the process! @Tlc - there are groomers out there unfortunately who will ONLY do shaves on dogs cos they dont have a clue what theyre doing! then there are groomers who have been doing proper hair cuts who really just now do it for the money so they change to shaves cos its much faster and easier and they can do more in a day. Then, there are groomers who try to do anything to keep a dog fluffy if the owner wants, but not to the point of brushing out a completely matted coat and injuring the dog. Dogs shouldnt really need to be shaved unless A- the owner has specifically asked for it B- the dog is completely matted C- it the dog has skin issues and vets have said it needs to happen for the health of the dog. My opinions only really...
  15. What is the difference between this food and the Holistic Eagle Pack? (besides Aus made...)
  16. i cant actually believe how unbelievably offended i am by this LOL i did Box Hill TAFE's grooming course (before it turned bad) - we were the 1st year for the full time course, so altho, yes, there were some faults, the course gave us all extremely good knowledge and experience, and a number of us have gone on to work at some very high standard grooming salons, and even have our own businesses!! I personally have competed in National dog grooming competitions and come away with prizes! So to say you wouldnt classify tafe students as groomers is a real insult! and to then say "reasonable standard"...well thats just rude really...alot of us have worked EXTREMELY hard to get to the standard we are at now, and it shouldnt matter where you started out, but the amount of work you put in!! So many people bag the tafe courses and think its just a piece of paper, but the knowledge you get from it is probably more than you will get at other courses, because it goes into such depth! Grooming is something that takes skill, passion and a person who is completely there for the animals wellbeing! Dont condem tafe students as a reasonable standard in the industry when you clearly have no idea!
  17. i really do hope it was just a simple misunderstanding on the owners part! i really feel sorry for the dog and i hope it heals fast! thanks for all the help guys
  18. Thats why i was so worried! the owner said it burst AT THE VET WHEN SHE SQUEEZED THE GLAND! apparently the vet told them it was fine and just gave him the pain relief injection!?!?! Also seemed suss when owner said he had to go back 2 days later to get the glands done again?!!? this dog has never had gland problems now all of a sudden he has to go back twice in 1 week???? im still concerned...its actually on my mind alot, and hes not even my dog! lol funny how u become so attached to dogs u groom...
  19. He wasnt matted at all....hes a regular customer, always goes short. And they arent the sort of people to lie about going to the vet either.
  20. Thank you! i did not think that this was right at all! apparently it happened AT the vet and the vet just gave him a pain relief injection. They were going back again 2 days later to get them redone?????? It all seems very dodgy on the vets behalf to me personally...the dog was VERY well behaved, you wouldnt even have known he was in pain at all! Only pain sign was when he was leaving he was understandably licking the area alot, and i explained to the owner that this was because he was in pain. I cant really blame the owner as they were just doing what the vet had told them, but honestly if it was my dog and i had someone telling me it wasn't normal id be straight back there questioning them! I was so worried when i saw this...think i rang the owner 3 or 4 times during the groom lol...i felt so sorry for the poor boy
  21. Hi there, I had a regular customer come in to me a couple of weeks ago. They had just had the dogs glads done by their vet right before coming to me. When i went to clip the dog i noticed the whole bottom was covered in blood and puss! I rang the owner explaining what i'd seen and they said it was fine (the vet said it was ok) so i kept going, of course being very carefull around the area, thinking the dogs glands must have been a little infected due to all the blood. However, once i had washed the dog, there was still blood and puss coming out. Upon closer inspection i saw there was a little hole where the glands are, and i immediately knew the dog had ruptured the gland (ive seen it before a few times). I called the owner back telling them they need to go back to the vet to get it checked out. When they came to pick up the dog they explained it happened at the vet and the vet said it was fine and gave the dog a pain relief injection. I find this extremely weird, and i cant imagine the pain the poor dog was in! Has anyone else ever seen something like this, as in my 6 years of grooming i've NEVER seen ANYTHING like this before! Could i have done anything different? Was the vet doing the right thing? Seems to me they paniced when it happened and just told the owner it was fine.
  22. theres Clipperworld and wooferwares that probably have the cheapest stuff i'd say...
