Can see you don't have Cavs! Although "slugboy" could use the beanbag LOL Although 6ft 4 inch of stepping over is a pain if he stretches out on the floor.

Hmmm....I'm thinking microsuede might hold up to 'sweaty slugboy' with no shirt on hot days" marks!!!

Yes, you can teach your dog the difference. I did Obedience training with a Schipperke for a long time before she ever stepped into the Show Ring. The concern being that she would 'sit' at heel as soon as I stopped walking, however the 'hand signal' for 'stand' aleviated this problem as she had also been taught 'stand'. As with any training your puppy will have to learn a bit at a time so as not to confuse her. And your 'signals' and 'voice commands ' will need to be clear and distinctive.

My old Lounge suite has had it. I was going to replace it last year but was short of funds. I have saved enough to get a decent (I hope) suite >$2500 is what I'm hoping to get something for ( as she practises her haggling LOL) So what do I want...fabric or leather and does anyone have a lounge suite that holds up to small indoor dogs (Cavaliers) that only sit on the furniture when there is a lap or leg to snuggle up against.

Had Shepherds for a number of years and my youngest daughter wanted a Cavalier. so....the rest is, as they say, history! Clancy is 5 years old next months. We got him when my older Shephered was 14 but he was PTS when Clancy was 7 months old (colapsing sacrum) My eldest Cav is now 3 years. Crystal (pictured with Clancy) is two in December, puppies 6 weeks old.

Not that horses are dogs mind you but in the interests of "female " dynamics......I had two mares kept side by side with only a hot wire tape and pigtail electric fence between them for years (on and off) sometimes they had proper fencing together but when I was moving house the night before I foolishly decided to take the white tape between them down to save myself time the next day. Result..... a very violent encounter which I think would have been a fight to the death had I not driven them apart. Very dangerous and difficult to break up a fight. Surprising, as there was never any "face pulling' or "ears laid back" between them over the fence??

I had an entire Schipperke bitch and a maltese X bitch that got on very well. There was also an entire Lhaso Apso/Maltese Male in this mix. The only problems I ever had was when the male got old. The Schipperke would beat up on him then. I had to separate them. My old Border Collie/Heeler cross bitch could never have had another bitch around her , she would have killed it. She didn't even tolerate puppies or kittens!! She was a mean bitch. But a smart, sweet dog to the furkids and us. My two Cav bitches get on very well and are lovely together, I may even be adding a few more bitches to the mix over the next few years. I have no qualms about this with Cavaliers though.

Here's some more for you then.

Thanks everyone, I want to make life easier for those going to their new homes at 8 weeks. Don't want the new owners to have to deal with 'that mess' as well!

And Clancy telling her, "Don't worry, pipsqueak, I'll look after you." The third picture is....."Today's lesson is how to 'sit' and look noble.

Oh, she is...she luffs him!!

I've rented with dogs many years ago and found that a small dog is easier to get past an agent than a large breed. Most lease agreements are standard issue and you will sign a legally binding contract that states "No Pets". Be careful. We found it easier to rent privately directly through the owners than with an agent. An owner is more likely to be sympathetic than an agent. A friend thought she had it all worked out when her parents bought her a unit when they moved interstate (yeah! I know! Investment I guess) and the Body Corporate said it would be okay for her to have their JRT. A year on she was approached by the Body Corporate and told the dog must go. They sold the Town House.

I know... just when they start getting fun too! Maybe next time I'll keep 'em till 12 weeks!

Thought I'd share a few pics of my dogs with you.

Never had that problem. I think chocolate flavoured because dogs like chocolate so much. I use Troy Worm Ban puppy syrup and as soon as old enough give the appropriate dose in what ever tablet dose I have at the time. Usually Paratak Plus. Tell me about it! I was at the Vets recently with Crystal when she ate a block of "Old Gold Rum 'n Raisin". ;) So why give them a taste for it??

See how my babies have grown! They are now 6 weeks old.

Okay so the Vet nurse sold me some Canex chocolate flavoured suspension (what the??? why chocolate flavoured) What a fun afternoon that was NOT! So which wormers DON'T give them the runs??

Best Way To Stop A Bitch From Lactating?
LizT replied to my_sibe_owns_me's topic in Breeders Community
Oh the poor girl. Sadly the best treatment for mastitis is stripping the milk. If you need to keep it to a minimal so production ceases. Also wind down her diet to a lower protein level if you haven't already so production eases. Yes at least not feeding will leave the nutrients for her. Glad to hear the pups are doing well....photos please! So did you only have the one boy then? I did and five girls but I lost the boy due to cleft palate. -

It does work but they stopped doing it in hospitals in favour of ice packs because of herbicides and pesticides used in the growing of the cabbages. How are the puppies doing? I really would have thought that the garlic would be out of her system by now?? :D -
Awesome photos!!! Did a Rottie walk past when some of those matings occurred???

My first litter is now 6 weeks old today. Maiden bitch and maiden whelping for me, although I had produced three of my own and a few foals in the past 20 years LOL. And OH attended the birth and was the assistant midwife. Gleaned lots of advice from experienced Show friends/mentors, read lots of books but in the end I think instincts forarmed with plenty of research and the knowledge that my vet had a 24 hr emergency service 2 minutes away gave me the confidence to go it alone. I was blessed with a good birthing but I don't believe that was an accident. A bitch in good health with herbs that tone the uterus certianly contributed in some way to a good birthing. Something I had done myself with all of my own pregnancies. The rest was fate and sheer dumb luck I guess. Next time around I will make sure the bitch get Folate prior to conception as I sadly had a pup with a cleft palate and have learnt more about this since. Homes have been found through DOL with the usual 100 questions I've asked of the potential new owners. However no decisions are being made for another two weeks as I've discovered just today that 6 weeks is really still too early to tell. One or two look promising and even though I wasn't going to keep any fom this litter, I might just do that! Never say never. They have been a huge part of the past few months both in looking after my bitch and then the newborns. I will miss the little poopers when they are gone, as they are starting to become real little personalilties and huge "time wasters" although I have to say that 5 pups pooping one after another in my family room, and the mountains of newspaper I've collected and am rapidly going through, despite expecting it, still floors me at times. I've only ever looked after one puppy at a time and young dogs are very time consuming...especially when multiplied!! Cudos to the large litter carers!

Sitting in the waiting room of my Vets and a women siting nearby with her dog asks me what breed the 6 week old pups I have in the crate are. I respond with "They are Cavalier King Charles Spaniels." Her reply..."Is there much money in them then?" After my initial surprise at being asked such a question my reply was... Well Yes, they have cost me quite a bit so far.. Stud fee Dams health tests and Vet bills, scans etc. Post Natal checks Microchipping Eye Examinations Vaccinations and health examinations Worming Feeding care etc. ...and I still have the Registration papers to pay for. "Oh", was her response. "So you don't make much money out of it then?" No, I'm doing it to try to produce sound healthy puppies and I'm proud to say that these little girls have passed their checks with flying colours.

Just make sure you have a few to go with as I didn't get my first preference, and that's fine except the one I got was the longest of my choices and now I'm running out of 'letters' naming my first litter! 24 including spaces and a prefix seems long until you start getting a bit descriptive! "Wandalier constantly running through the poos" is too long!

Good to hear! I was just starting to regret putting the horses rugs back on same!
