  1. Good work huski, you just cost me a bomb!
  2. Great to hear you are feeling better about it all Kirst. It can be worrying when have a new pup and its not going according to the plan in your head. We work ourselves up thinking we are failing them, failing ourselves and really, its far far far from the drama we are imagining. Now you feel you are getting somewhere you can just keep on enjoying your time together.
  3. All sizes turn up PA. Sometimes there are littlies there too. There weren't a lot of us there this month because it was Mothers Day, so we didn't have any small dogs this time just by chance. Keep and eye out though, a Japanese Spitz comes quite regularly and also two Poms and a Pap come sometimes, as well as a couple of Maltese.
  4. In that last one on the first group of photos, I can definitely see Ren's breakfast. My god, he has a big mouth. My photos are on FB for you all, not many and most have Ren in them, cause he's such a clown. Lovely to meet Leo and mum, it'll be great to see the boys playing together when we catch up next.
  5. Best advice, don't listen to Joe Public, half of them wouldn't know a dog if it sat on their heads. Typical response to my breed: JP: "What sort of dogs to you own?" Me: "Collies" JP: "Oh, I know lots of Border Collies, their over the top, nice dogs though." Me: "Interesting, but I don't own Border Collies." JP: Silence, punctuated by a look of confusion. Of course not everyone is like this, but many many are. Either nod, smile politely and change the subject or be prepared for some serious time undertaken in re-educating JP. I alternate on the outcome depending up on my mood and if I think that JP is really worth my time. Btw, I don't subscribe to BC's be over the top, but if I can't educate them about my own breed, what hope do I have adding another to the list.
  6. Smartypaws, he's a link to his Dogzonline profile. http://www.dogzonline.com.au/breeds/profile.asp?dog=11671 Btw, he has many more herding titles now than his profile suggests, but has recently retired.
  7. Hi Smartypaws, How exciting! What breed? Do you have pics? Provided that one of the boys is a good match for our family on aptitude testing , we will be getting a gorgeous Belgian Shephard (Laekenois)! No pictures to share as we won't know which puppy will be ours until they are bit older. Oooooh, not many Laekenois around, that's very special. I know one old boy who wins the hearts of everyone he meets, he has the best temperament.
  8. If it all goes ahead with small numbers I'm happy to miss the BBQ and just bring our own. I've got an obedience lesson early that morning with both of them so I'm not sure how long Ren will last anyway. I expect we would probably leave pretty much straight after lunch otherwise he'll be stuffed. I'll go with the flow though and check in on Sat afternoon to see what's decided.
  9. Bronte is a bit weird. She's not a huge cuddler when she's up and awake, but like's to be close to me. When we are working, be it obedience, herding or agility she actually doesn't like to be touched very much at all, stroking isn't a thing she wants, she wants the verbal reward and a treat or play. But... each morning when we wake up she lies stretched out with her whole body against me and LOVES a cuddle and tickles and strokes. Its a great bonding moment for us. Ren is just a smoocher all over. I love lying next to him when he's snoozy and he'll roll over and play cuddles.
  10. Pip whats the minimum number of attendees for the day, we seem a bit light on. Depending upon how many come I may change what I bring as it looks like we might need more BBQ meat or something.
  11. Oh wow, I love mini apricots, poodles that is. I would love a standard black, but I think the mini's are perfect in apricot.

  13. Oh god no, I was joking! Thank god. I'm home sick today and obviously my sense of humour isn't thinking straight.
  14. Is bleach safe to use on a dog? Given its toxic I wouldn't have thought so, but I'm prepared to be educated.
  15. Damn, shame it wasn't fresh figs. My neighbours tree drops loads of green figs into my yard which both dogs take great delight in shredding into a hundreds of bits, often through the house - pesky.
  16. Yes that is true, but it doesn't work because I've tried it. I was told it had to be unsweetened pineapple juice, just add a couple of tablespoons to the meal. Everyone i know that has tried it says it works and it certainly worked for one of mine. I've tried looking for unsweetened pineapple pieces in tins at the supermarket and not sure what I am looking for Everything looks to be the sweetened kind! Can anyone offer me a brand please that I can try? Ruby is poo-obsessed, mainly with Millie's (to the point she will follow her around like her bottom is a Mr Whippy dispenser), so I want to feed it to both of them to try and curb the problem. Hey RubyStar, try Golden Circle Pineapple pieces (or rings) in natural juice. It probably has some element of added something, but just make sure you avoid the same in syrup. Ok, now I'm going to try and wipe that Mr Whippy image from my head I can't believe I'm saying this, but I have to literally wipe the "mr whippy" from Ruby's head sometimes!!! :cheer: I monitor them when I can but the reality is I can't be there for every poo! Shall I go and die in shame now? Thanks for the pineapple thing. I checked the tin I already had in the cupboard and it was in natural juice, and it was pieces. I gave them 4 pieces each in their dinner with a couple of tablespoons of juice. I'll repeat it for every meal for at least a month and see if it makes a difference!! Love everything about my girl but this one dirty habit I could really do without!!!!! OH MY GOD, Ruby has it bad Well I really hopes it works for you. That's about what I'd feed Bronte too, or if it was rings, half a ring an a couple of tablespoons of juice. She doesn't do it anymore thankfully.
  17. Hmm, its looking like a small showing so far, hope more people can join us.

  19. I've never really made much of a fuss out mouthing, rather just given an ah ah and then quickly, but without excitement, replaced my hand with a toy and continued playing, making a fuss of the pup with the toy. With Ren, Bronte has been in charge of pretty much all of his bite inhibition training, he's never really seen me as something to mouth, think I got lucky with this though.

Everyone i know that has tried it says it works and it certainly worked for one of mine. Don't think it matters if its juice or pineapple, but you're right, not the one based in syrup. Jakeyjangels my girls goes nuts for carrot. I have to watch her very closely when we are feeding the horses as she thinks thievery is acceptable, my horse does not.
  21. Thought I'd pop by and see if the thread had been started already and wheeeee, it has! Finally I have a free Sunday, and it will also be Ren's debut. List of people and doggies pip1981- Dakota and Tika SmGirl - Bronte & Ren List of food pip1981- plates, cups, cutlery, condiments, marinated chicken wings SmGirl - Garden salad and couple of loaves of bread
  22. KD, I was thinking more of securing him in the footwell in the back seat, but with a dog of that size I could be a bit of a struggle. Hope you find something that works.
  23. Naomi, I'd check with your breeder or look it up in some veterinary journals. Seems to me Bronte had her puppy teeth much longer than Ren, who seemed to start teething around 10 weeks. I'm not sure what's normal, but I thought that was a bit early. His are almost completely through now too.
