  1. would it be daggy for me to just get something like this: http://www.camping-r-us.com.au/Items/12944...20Screen%20Dome ? I just think I need something a little easier to get up ..and you can get these in a pop up version. But I don't want to be known as the show dag either, i'm already going to be known as "the one with know idea and is obviously a complete numpty" lol.
  2. Ok, so I will also need to purchase a buddy?! lol.
  3. Did you guys all go out and buy gazebos? I think i'm going to get myself some shade when we start on our own (noone too mooch off anymore ) but have no idea what to get. Are they hard to put up, because, I am a complete moron and can't do anything lol. But i'm a bit torn on whether to buy one or not. Leo has a soft crate, which is shady for him and I don't think he needs it that much, but I dunno. I need some guidance lol.
  4. We were at the hvnsuc and hkc at morisset. It was a horrible day, but a good day for Leo. And welcome Undecided ..What breed do you have? I still haven't shown Leo on my own, his breeder has held my hand up until now! We have our first lone show in about a month. And we won't be baby puppy anymore either!
  5. Woohoo the little man is such a good boy! Best Baby Puppy Dog x2 Baby Puppy In Class Baby Puppy In Group Runner Up Baby Puppy In Show (that isn't a real title for babies but it sounds mighty good lol) he is such a good boy. There was lots of dramas up in the utility ring today. Our next shows we are on our own. haha. Bindii how was the royal yesterday?
  6. Yeh it was great to meet you too I didn't think he was that bad! Leo was a little terd though! He didn't know what to think of it when nikky was stern, he is such a little pansy and his mummy is a bit too soft with him at times :laughs: he doesn't like to be placed, which is why he squelled like a looney, you just slightly touch him and he carries on. But were working on it, and she was much more informative then the other trainer down here, she helped us on a few things. Such a small world to meet the other bully boy and the couple who's dog we beat on the weekend, so nice to have two people in the same boat as me that I might catch up with at the shows! And icant believe how nice and soft and gorgeous toby was. I'm jealous! ETA: Leo was so vocal tonight, he's never that noisey! I don't know what got into him! He just wanted to play with everyone, I got scared he might squish poor little toby though! He loved all you guys loving on him though, he loves people so much, the poor little man gets ignored by strangers on the street so he was lapping it upbig time!
  7. It's more often called 'challenge' not opposite I think, just means he got a second out of all the puppies, bitches and dogs combined. Yeh my breeder is only an hour and a bit away (still a bit out of my way, but not too far) the show was in syd, so I drove down to hers the night before so I didn't have to get up an extra hour early in the morning (having to get up at 4:30am was enough for me thanks!) They apologised about the dog being nasty to Leo, I don't think they noticed the hole, I didn't until a while after. Atleast it wasn't the canvas, if the hole gets bigger the mesh can always be replaced more easily I guess. I love love love the crate though, it's so much bigger then I imagined! me and the boy can sit in there together! Lol. Until he gets big ofcourse! ETA: don't worry about not knowing, I am completely useless with all the jargon as well, i'm forever asking "and what does this mean?!"
  8. Yesterday was a big long day for us! But the wee man was so well behaved, i'm so proud of him! It was great having our first show at the Bullmastiff Champ Show, we got to meet a lot of lovely doggies! So many Bullys, I was in heaven! We met his Grandmother and Grandfather too (is is aust grand champion, to die for! ) While we were practising he was being the BIGGEST terd ever! But when he got in the ring he only bounced around a little trying to play with all of the other puppies and then was such a well behaved boy! We got Best Baby Puppy Dog and Best Opposite Baby Puppy When he came out of the ring he was so happy with himself and I was so proud I felt like crying a little We won a bottle of wine, some dog food and an apron . At presentation my breeder told everyone I was just a new member and every one was patting me on the back saying congrats and what not I was so I still chickened out, and his breeder ended up handling him for me, but I did see that it wasn't that scary and I think I will be able to overcome the nerves! We will be at morriset this saturday, and his breeder said she is going to handle him for me in that one too, but then I think I am going to take over ;) ! One thing I wasn't happy about was when Leo was in his crate someone let their dog come over and sniff and then it tried to have a go and ripped a little hole in the mesh ..All on the first time it's been used! It was such a long, hot day out there, but like I said he was perfectly behaved! Oh, you guys who go to hillsborough show training, whens the next one and is it just turn up kind of thing? I think we might try it rather then down here, as there are only two other dogs in the class, and I think it will do him a load of good to be around more, is there a good turn out there? and the dogs at ours have behavioural problems (DA and aggressive towards the 'judge') I just don't want Leo to pick up these bad behaviours, am I just being paranoid or could he?
  9. Everyone gone into hiding?! we are off to stay at Leos breeders tonight then an early morning to drive down on sat. I'm so nervous/stressed (suffering anxiety/panic attacks doesn't really help in these situations!). I haven't slept for three nights and feel sick it's borderlining pathetic ;) We got his crate today too- I think the measurements on the site were wrong it is bloody ginormous, i'm not sure if it's going to fit in my car! I'm a bit paranoid as well cause Leo is having a bit of a growth spurt and has really shot up, and he is looking a bit lean, I don't know what i'm worried about I just am. We still aren't the brightest cookies in the jar, the little man has as little idea of what he's meant to be doing as I am, I hope his breeder isn't embarrassed ;) ..But he has fun and is the sweetest little thing going. Anyway, enough of my whinging! Hope everyone does well this weekend
  10. Yeh no I stopped the necks when I realised he was growing out them, and changed him to carcasses and what not (have a brother who owns a butcher shop so we get lots of necessities at wholesale price ) And yup, a big lump of Bullmastiff And thanks for the link to those bowls, I had heard of them, but hadn't seen anywhere to buy them and didn't know what they were called to search. I've been on a shopping spree for the dogs this week so what's another ETA: Out of those three bowls in the links, which would be best, or does it not really matter?
  11. The reason he hasn't been on it is just because i've been following the diet given to me by the breeder, and she said she used these bikkies and what not. I just thought she'd know best and it's what she fed so i've been following that. And Persephone, his food is primarily raw, I just give him the bikkies for brekky as I am not confident yet feeding a full barf (i'm still getting my head around percentages and all that jaz ;) ) just because it's meat doesn't make him chew, the necks go down the same way they come out of the bag ;) This boy never learnt to chew! And yeh, this isn't the best food he could be on, so thought while i'm looking at changing him i'll look for something of a decent size aswell.
  12. I've been to the produce store here, which is closest and has the biggest range, and they don't have any samples and can't help me- rather, don't want to. They were quiet rude. So I resorted to here, as so many people use the different brands I thought there would be a lot of varying responses. Yeh, I have a large breed dog, so I wouldn't have asked otherwise, I am following the breeders diet but the kibble he is on isn't for large breed dogs, so I just thought if they were larger in size it wouldn't hurt to change him (sorry I am no good at explaining!) He does get sardines in them once a week, which is oily and good to make them stick and him chew, I add an egg once a week aswell, but the other days it's just the kibble alone for brekky. I have been adding a bit of milk and/or cheese to help, but he just picks out the cheese or licks out the milk so it's becoming a waste of bikkies! Thanks for the advice though. I will check out a larger pet store when I get out and about if I don't get any other helpful responses
  13. My little hoover is getting a big mouth now and his current kibble is too small, when he eats it he vaccuums it down and often has a bit of a cough because they just go down whole (if i'm making sence) so i'm just looking for something with a bit bigger kibble size, and don't want to spend a fortune trying out all the brands, so i'm just asking a favour, what do you use and how big is the kibble? Is large breed puppy kibble bigger in size? Thanks in advance.
  14. You can get them here: www.classicshowsupplies.com.au I just brought stuff from them and are wonderful to deal with. The snake chains are gorgeous, I plan to get one for Leo, but am going to wait until he is big because they are too expensive to be buying monthly!
  15. Hope you all have fun this weekend! We just got Leos numbers for his first show 7 days to go!
  16. Ahk. I might try it. I think Rox likes me sticking my fingers down her throat and Leo is a hoover and eats his tablets like they're treats anyway Thanks.
  17. I've always brought Heartguard for Rox, but i've just found the heaven sent internet shopping for these things, and came across the Valuheart, is this a generic version of the heartguard and the same thing at half the price? Has anyone used it? I was just wondering whether to stick on heartguard or try this..
  18. Nah Bindii we still have two weeks till our first. But geesh it's going fast and Leo is still as docile as ever
  19. Make friends with a butcher! Although it may be a bit more convenient for me as I am sort of related to a butcher, I get everything I want ordered in at wholesale price, just tell him the day before I want it and the next day it's delivered (too bad you're so far away!) Woolies charges around $3.20kg for gross looking carcasses with no meat on them, I get fresh meaty ones .80c a kilo. The nicest ones i've seen by far, better then the chicken shops around here (never thought I would get so excited about carcasses!). I got a product list too so anything I want I can order. I love it! ...Sorry to brag.
  20. Dogs have a jacobsons organ? ....I thought it was just cats?
  21. Yeh he has always been a lazy boy. More so because he is growing to be a bigg boy! You have to motivate him otherwise he is happy to laze around and snooze all day! Food and sleep- his two loves in life. I'd like to think i'm in there somewhere aswell though
  22. My boy is 18 weeks..Sleeps all day, sleeps all night, wakes me at about 8:30am. He is one lazy pup. He is the most unpuppiest puppy ever lol. We sit down to watch home and away (no criticism please lol) and he usually naps on and off from then- still gets up if I get up but mostly sleeps, then we go into the room at about 9pm, which he sleeps (mostly) again, lights out is prob around 10:30pm and he crashes. Doesn't wake me till morning, like I said before, at around 8:30..I think he would sleep in longer but my older dog likes to get up and out, so once she is up we're all up.
  23. Ahk it did get me worried for a little bit, glad to know it didn't happen to just me! I will try the email again, maybe it was just my shotty internet connection. From the August gazette I did a list myself (I like them too ;) ) but still haven't entered anything. I think we might wait out this sept 12 show and see how we like it, although we are also entered in 18th and 19th at morriset (if my entry wasn't as bodgey as I think haha) so we might just wait it out...I dunno! But if I ever do need a hand I will be turning to you! (I hope you don't mind!)
  24. Yeh well I still haven't been to a show Yeh, I didn't realise you could do that, but I went on the sight and tried to make an account but it said I wasn't a member and then tried to email through to the info but it didn't work, not a good strain of luck. I did send away an entry, I think I bodgied it up, we'll see what happens there too When i practice with Leo I watch him so intently my circles end up not being circles and I will probably end up colliding with the judge, need to work on that! Stacking is proving difficult for us aswell, but it's all in fun for now, hopefully we will both shape up if we get into it! Cassie I am getting that sick feeling also, even though I won't be doing anything
