  2. Yes that is partly what they were bred for...it branched from being used to tow in nets for fishing and their affinity to people naturally made them rescue people. There are many storied of big black dogs on ships and saving people. There was even one on the Titanic :)

  4. I posted this in General, but want to know if anyone else is training for Water Rescue....i would love to find some others As you may have gathered, I want Katy to do Water Rescue...She loves it. I am training her to be sent out to or called from the canoe and bring it in. Also to go and get someone who has a buoy and to take a floating device to someone. The distance work has been quite an effort/difficult Here are two slide shows of Katy at work.........I brought my camera, but it is difficult to give instructions and hold a very expensive camera :) She had her life vest on, because she had already been for a few swims......I do not want her to get tired. 16. LOL......What a great muddy look, so cute :)
  17. She is great...Almost has daily update new video's
  18. I vacuum once a day and brush the dogs at least every second day.....i find the fumigator brush gives them split hairs (roughens the coat) so i only use my comb and slickers. i also have a pin brush which I use a lot, dogs love that one. And going fro frequent swims really helps. I also blow my dogs with our dryer......It gets rid of lots of loose hair and dander :)
  19. I had dogs when i started going out with my now hubby..........The first thing that was important was that they got along. he was the first guy my rather "I hate strangers" dog actually liked and accepted. I really take note of my dogs likes and dislikes. I trust my now-pack's judgement
  20. This could have been posted before, but a friend from the USA sent this.......Move your mouse after the dog has finished speaking and the eyes follow the arrow, cute. There are three little clips per breed, just click right bottom corner of breed window...FUN http://www.petcentric.com/Find-A-Pet/Dog/Breed-Selector.aspx?breed=Newfoundland.3&DCMP=ILC-PETC-PETC-FF&HQS=Share
