I would put a greyhound down before handing it over to some random to do God knows what.

Um people who breed show bred greyhounds are already doing that. Racing greyhounds around a fenced in track after an artifical lure is a modern day event. Been happening less than a 100 years and the breed is many, many hundreds of years older then that. Sure my dogs wouldn't win a race but they haven't been bred to do that. They are hunting dogs, not race dogs. Does everyone who shows their dogs hunt with their dogs as well? There's a reason why many breeds have split into show and working categories. For most ANKC show dogs, there is no test of working ability. Same for greyhounds, very few dogs are actually allowed to hunt legally. eta some of the race track failures could have been very good hunters. Racedogs need to be fast enough to win a race, doesn't mean they would make a good hunter.

Brilliant, was it easy to find? I find the VCA website quite hard to navigate. eta maybe I should make some copies and put in the return address envelopes of the people who obviously can't be bothered to do it correctly. Unfortunately, this still doesn't say about cutting the forms to the correct size! I was lucky, because at my first show the catalogue said "entry forms must be trimmed to correct size" and I texted a more experienced showie going "what do I have to do!??" well if I decide to do it again next year I will have that and more in the schedule: entry forms must be filled in correctly and trimmed to the correct size and maybe the link to the sample. Though the same ones will continue to do as they please. Wonder what they will do if clubs stop holding shows cause they can't find a person stupid enough to be the show secretary.

yes there will always be greyhounds even if they are a rare breed in the showring. Absolutley, and look at the quality in Europe :) fifi hey we have excellent quality here too :D

they are, I had one.

oh and in answer to your question - I have had 2 GSD's with HD and neither presented like yours did. From what you write your dog has sustained an injury.
-
I can 2nd David for any chiro issue but doubt he could tell if a dog had HD by touch. He is one of the most gentle people I have ever had work on my dogs, GSD and greyhounds. He did have to crunch my bitch last time and she did squeal a little but that was more my fault for not taking her a bit more regularly. I'd get your dog there and sorted out, and out of pain, before worrying about finding someone else. You can look for a bowen therapist once she is out of pain.

I needed to ring someone re their entries, it was obvious they were new, I gave them a quick guide on how to enter a show. Yes the template on the VCA site should be the correct size. And yes, would be handy if the VCA sent out a 5 minute guide to entering a show or trial when they send out membership cards to the new people. I was lucky when I started showing that I knew how to fill the entry forms in thanks to doing agility/obedience for so many years and was shown how to do so correctly by the obedience club I was a member of way back then. Thanks people of Warringal.

Snail mail entries close next week, ozentries the week after.

why not try an approach while the dog is in a sit stay? They are often more solid in that before a stand. Just a simple walk by, then a chuckle under the chin maybe, then a run of the hands down the back, then onto a stand with you standing beside him etc. If the instructor is good this shouldn't take long at all. eta spelling

I disagree, no need to be snotty to anyone, popular breed or not.
-
decent breeders do offer life time support etc and they have usually raised quite a few puppies to adulthood themselves so yes have lots of knowledge to pass on and help out their puppy people. If they don't know, they can direct you to someone who does.

this was covered in another of her blogs, she has a list at the bottom of each page.

I've forgotten to sign a cheque as well, once, when I was very new , and a bit anxious trying to get it all right. Everybody makes mistakes but these are experienced people who just can't be bothered and are too lazy to do things correctly. Some don't even put the full breed name in. If they can't be bothered to do that they are not going to bother putting what day or club they would like to show at. This lot is much worse then last years.

Weather is looking good.

well one doesn't even have any entry forms, just a return envelope and the money. Tracked them down via the phone book and 2nd message just left. That one is going back next week. The message for another one is ring me back or your dog will not be entered. That will be going back as well unless I hear from them prior.

there is also the warning that it's safe use has not been proven on stud dogs or words to that effect.

I am so over the incorrect entries received from people who should know better. One entry form for two different shows, oversize entry forms, tiny little envelopes, incorrect monies, no class entered, no breed on the entry form, etc and these are all from people who should know so much better including people who are show sectretaries themselves. And the ones who don't return the phone calls made when I try to fix up their mistakes :mad And people wonder why show secretaries can get crabby!!!! I don't have a beef with the newbies, go out of my way to help them, but these others, I am over it!

It isn't just my opinion. There is no evidence available that it works. Many conditions will heal on their own, and that may be attributed to homoeopathy. But in controlled double-blind trials, homoeopathy has shown to be totally ineffective. If people strongly disagree they need to provide the evidence to show they are right. We have been waiting years and no reliable evidence has ever been produced. The advocates of homeopathy are the ones that need to be careful in what they say. In my opinion homoeopathy is just a legal scam. People can disagree, but without evidence they are wasting their time arguing about it. My proof is in the dogs and how they react to a course of treatment. Some have worked some have not, same as other types of treatments. I know it has worked cause I have seen it do so. Don't need any more proof then that. I only used it once for a physical illness, it was to counteract the ill effects of a vaccination. No idea if that worked or not. But the symptoms settled, treatment or time, who knows. But I do know in some of the behavioural issues homeopathics worked when nothing else did, except for travel sickness, never found one that worked there. I used a vet formally trained in homeopathics, same as I used a vet formally trained in chiropractic and acupuncture.

It might not have worked for you but it has worked for me in the past, not for worming or fleas, but for some behavioural problems it's done it's job. I've never had a huge flea problem here, the occasional dog has had the occasional flea on them, which they are treated for, but neither they or the enviroment became flea infested by not treating regularly for fleas. Same with worms, my dogs are wormed 2 or 3 times a year when I think about it. Treating every month for things that don't exist is money down the drain. It's useless.
