  1. do you cue it stonecutter? eta no sitting for this game, need him to stand to attention :D
  2. I would like to teach my nearly 8 month old greyhound to catch treats. He is a very soft boy and the only training I have heard of, years ago, was if they missed it you had to move quickly to stop them getting the fallen treat. I reckon this would put my dog off for life  I want to use it when free stacking him for the ring. Warrior is coming along nicely in the ring but has the potential to be a bit of a plodder. I thought treat catching could keep his interest high. The other problem is he is not very interested in food in the ring but I was hoping if he got super excited at home some of that might carry through. :)
  3. urban dictionary:NAFF British slang, describes something that is stupid, lame or unpalatable I hope I never think my dogs wins or using them in my dogs profile is naff, how very sad.
  4. why? Were you ashamed of her wins? Did you think you looked boastful? What's naff? I don't get it, I really don't. Showing is a hobby but you are trying to win so why not be proud when it happens, why be made to feel it's something to be ashamed of?
  5. Maybe she was just seeing who was at the door? I adopted a rescue mini schnauzer at 3 years old, she used to be a breeding bitch at a puppy farm. She ALWAYS goes to the door or gate when someone walks past, she certainly isn't looking for her previous owner. no, there was a difference, there was a look in her eye, you had to see it. I also saw when she went to the door just to see who it was. She was in great shape when in the pound, her previous owners wouldn't pay to get her out, now that takes some understanding.
  6. nothing here from Vic but I did get my NSW one today
  7. good luck, I'm not going but friend are.
  8. Hi, So agree........and they dont just post on fb MBIS or MBIG etc.......you see it on the breeds profile lists here on DOL....all the time I'm sorry but I don't see what is wrong with this. Please someone enlighten me. By gawd if I ever got a BIS you bet it would be on the dogs profile for ever and a day, ditto with BIG, what is so wrong with listing your dogs wins You must all hate my greyhound wins thread
  9. My parents adopted an elderly GSD bitch from the pound years ago. She was at least 8, possibly older. While Cindy did settle in quickly she also looked for her old family for at least 6 months or so. Every time someone came to the door she looked to see if it was them, you could tell by the look in her eye. But as time went on she accpeted her new family totally and was fully my parents dog within 12 months. So they can and do adapt. And there is a big difference between always wanted to work overseas to having it actually happen. Lots of people want to do things that never happen. In this case it has happened.
  10. the babies are all looking beautiful, such a nice thread to visit
  11. ok, must be something they just do. Sweetie looks well.
  12. can I ask why the dressing? Curious cause none of my dog or cat spays have ever had a dressing on their wound.
  13. I am stoked with how the litter is going plus the older greys are getting their fair share as well. Greyhounds are having a little purple patch at the moment and we are loving it
  14. Alice takes out her 4th Minor in Group on the weekend in SA! 7 and 1/2 months old. Judge Mr S Kimura
  15. 3 weeks and the animals were fine, well looked after by my daughter
  16. if your class is at night there is no way I would not give a puppy breakfast. He's a Berner, that's what they are, laid back dogs for the most part.
  17. Peebles the dogs aren't being shown.
  18. What is the point of an "acceptable weight"if its still not acceptable when they are in within that range ?? Maybe they look overweight because they need a haircut ? because each dog is different, some are bigger, some are smaller, their weight should reflect their actual size. You said they need to lose a kilo or two each. On a dog under 8 kilos that is a lot of excess weight they are carrying. I would get antsy if any of my dogs were overweight even if it was only a kilo and they are much, much bigger. Excess weight can make it harder to get a bitch pregnant or to whelp easily. You have bred dogs before, surely you must know this, it's very basic animal husbandry. A fit, lean animal beats a fat pudgy one hands down in all sorts of ways.
  19. within the acceptable weight range does not mean it is the right weight for them. As a vet nurse surely you know being overweight is not good for them?
  20. You can't judge conformation by just a photo, especially one that has a dog sitting down. FWIW I too think they are overweight. Your bitch would be much better off a bit trimmer before getting in whelp. I also think you put the photo's up just to get a rise from people. If you seriously wanted an opinion you would have put up much better photo's.
  21. I just put extra covers on my bed and the couch, easy enough to wash a couple more polar fleece throws. ETA And I would never use them for toilet training.
  22. Hi Sway, I was wondering what state your form's are for? do different states have different forms? I just send my forms off to NSW with out any problems and I have never noticed anything different to the ones sent from NSW people
