  1. you do know there are several health tests you need to do before breeding from your boy, you do know if you refuse to do such health tests and he sires a pup that is affected then you are liable and can be sued. You must know these things because you are awesome.
  2. At least you acknowledge the person who was bitten is the victim, though like the others, I'm not sure why you blame the victim for being bitten. It makes me wonder if you also blame victims of crimes for being victims. it makes me wonder if mace owns a dog who bites and blames it on other people who accidently stay within it's trigger zone.
  3. don't be so quick to blame yourself for your dogs issues. Puppies are not born perfect any more then people. Even the best bred, best reared pups/dogs can have issues and sometimes it doesn't matter what you do the pup/dog is still what it is. A living breathing creature with imperfections.
  4. Are you for real! I'm sorry that my friend didn't have the capacity in a split instance to calcualte the angle and extension of a dogs lead, taking into consideration the length of the owners arm and elasticity of the lead. That's what I do and have had my fair share of dogs lunge at me over the years in that type of situation. The point I am making is that you can't trust people will handle their dogs accordingly and take the initiative myself. It's too late to argue who is right or wrong if perhaps you had a child with you and half his/her face missing? wow, where on earth do you walk that you have been lunged at multiple times while just trying to walk past on lead dogs without a dog yourself. Certainly sounds like a dangerous neighbourhood and one to be avoided at all costs. Nice one, put all the blame on the victim, who did try and avoid the dogs
  5. what she should have stepped out into the road maybe and got hit by a car instead  Not her fault at all but most certainly the fault of the dog and it's owners
  6. it says nothing about previous winners except that their owners might be a tad sensitive
  7. at how many are squeezed inside  I counted about 10 but might have missed one or two.
  8. hopefully it's all over for you now, that's your 3!
  9. gee you really are an inviting type aren't you.
  10. what about an older dog first, to help ease you into dog ownership?
  11. well thank you but there is no need to get narky, I've already changed the appointment once to follow what was in Vic Dog, now I will change it again. If you knew there was a typo why not correct it when the schedule first came out instead of waiting till the last week? I have passed the info on to the other Grp 4 people I know coming who are still under the impression Grp 4 is 2nd on, on the Friday.
  12. sorry to be a pain but is it definitely group 4 on first on the Friday, ie different to what it says in the Vic Dog? I am double checking as I have a physio appointment at 8.40 that morning, booked in that early cause group 4 was going to be 2nd on. I need to change my appointment if group 4 is on first.
  13. I'd like to know where group 4 will be please as it is not clear on the schedule, don't think group 4 is even mentioned for the Saturday. Was hoping there would be something with the numbers but there wasn't. Thanks :)
  14. agree you bad person you, fancy wanting a bit of time out to yourself, maybe you should do that at home if you can't cope with the stranger in your face
  15. that's great Dyzney. Let me know the details and I'll send off a donation.
  16. it is against the COE to allow pups to go before 8 weeks.
  17. as if a shed's not hot, what a load of crap. Plenty of people have multiple dogs in the hosue with no issue's with ot without children. As for leaving a four week old pup alone in the yard with big dogs, you would have to have rocks in your head!
  18. what are the breeding plans for the resulting offspring? I think you also need to look at what happens with the next generation. What your options are etc.
  19. no surprise here either, congratulations :D
  20. Yay for Alvin, glad he is home safe and sound
  21. Canberrans will soon be able to walk pet greyhounds muzzle-free, following an announcement that training courses to provide muzzle exemption will start this weekend. After undertaking a five-week socialisation course, keepers will be allowed to walk their greyhound in a public place without a muzzle, as approved by Domestic Animal Services. David Bullivant, a level two obedience instructor with DogTech, will run the course. He said it was mainly about teaching the animal how to behave in different situations. ''One of the things that people often worry about is small, fluffy dogs around ex-racing greyhounds, but our course will ensure no dog will be recommended for muzzle exemption without passing every aspect of the training,'' he said. ''Really, we are training owners to train their dogs - they still can't have the greyhound off a lead, so it's more about calming the dog in certain situations.'' Mr Bullivant said any animal that showed a sign of aggression throughout the training course would be denied a registration for muzzle exemption. However, registrar with Domestic Animal Services, Peter Dinan, who formally approves the ''recommended'' greyhounds, said the animal was not only given a second chance - but unlimited chances at the training course. ''They [the owner and their greyhound] will be allowed to return, yes,'' he said. Mr Dinan is confident the muzzle exemption is a step in the right direction for the ACT, especially since NSW and Queensland have introduced similar courses in recent years. ''There's no evidence that there have been any issues with un-muzzled greyhounds, and I think it will lessen the stigma surrounding these dogs,'' he said. Ruth Osgood, of Richardson, owns three-year-old greyhound Lola, and said she often feared for the safety of her dog - when it was wearing a muzzle. ''Sometimes I panic because unmuzzled dogs can run at Lola, and there is no way she can protect herself. They really are very placid animals.'' With rangers patrolling areas of Canberra, Mr Dinan was certain greyhound owners who have not completed the muzzle exemption course would be caught. Mr Dinan said the maximum penalty for an owner who was walking a greyhound without a muzzle and who had not undertaken the course was $550. The course is available for $145.
